Just read an article about the Supreme Court judgement today. It repeatedly refers to Cis women. I get so unbelievably annoyed by that term.

I am not a ‘Cis’ woman. I just hate the term. If you want to be a trans woman, fine. That’s what you are. Don’t make me the other side of your imaginary coin. Don’t make me call myself something I’m not. Don’t make me part of your ‘We’re all just at various points on the woman spectrum’ nonsense.

There are women. And there are trans women. Two entirely different things.

I think if trans women called themselves women there would be bigger backlash.

Have you been asleep for the last ten years? They have called themselves women, some have even declared themselves female, and there has been backlash. Yesterday the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom came out with its landmark ruling as a result of some of that backlash. Over in the US Trump has found it very advantageous to criticise gender ideology and that is one of the reasons people voted for him. The utter failure of most left of centre politicians to look critically at what's been happening has been really dispiriting for those of us who would normally vote for them.

TrainedByCats · 17/04/2025 08:48

I hate the term, thankfully in real life I’ve rarely had it used about me. The Supreme Court judgement strengthens my ability to object to it

Helleofabore · 17/04/2025 08:47

Cis is a meaningless word to describe humans.

Iammatrix · 17/04/2025 08:46

I know many women who do not know the term and I am always happy to educate them on it and
tell them to do some research.

On learning that they are described as ‘CIS gender’ they are naturally horrified.

I can’t stand the terms If people want to use pronouns it’s up to them. It’s also up to to me if I want to use one for myself or anyone else.

Hopefully some sanity is about to be restored!

So by that logic humans who feel like cats are cats and schools should actually be providing litter trays 😬

Humans who feline cats ?

How can it be that it’s offensive to call a trans woman a man against his wishes it not offensive for someone to refer to a woman as cis against hers?

It's a conundrum, isn't it! Is it because what men want is the really important thing and silly little women should still their annoyingly shrill voices and stop annoying the men with their moaning and whining?

AlphaRadiationIsHeliumNuclei · 17/04/2025 08:43

You can assume they're talking about atom arrangement 😆

Pianoaholic · 17/04/2025 08:42

If someone uses this term.in relation to me I will pretend not to know what they're on about.

AlphaRadiationIsHeliumNuclei · 17/04/2025 08:41

Not the point of the thread, but this is where the terms come from.

I think then the would simply say that you were born a female and you are a woman because you feel that you are a woman. And probably only say this if that was offered up by yourself. It's more of a philosophical question of you being you. I think therefore I am.

You’ve led a very easy life if this is what bugs you.

You know that's a completely nonsensical thing to say (ever, on any thread or in any conversation), right? Anyone with a couple of brain cells to rub together is perfectly capable of being concerned about many things at once, ranging from the minor to the very serious, even if they have verymuch not had an 'easy life'. The fact that you don't understand this suggests there's not much rubbing together of brain cells... As does the daxt that you don't understand that what we call 52% of the population does actually matter.

It sounds like other people would call you a cis woman then. You don't have to use that term.

A bit like racial terms that people hate. Do you think it is ok to refer to people using those even when they have said they don’t like them? Do you tell them it is ok because ‘you don’t have to use them’ or would you consider that to be fairly insufferable behaviour?

I hate the term too, I have no issue with trans women calling themselves simply ‘women’ but I shouldn’t have to redefine myself.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 17/04/2025 08:36

And yes. Cis makes me want to rip my knitting. I won’t take anyone seriously who uses it and will judge them to fuck.

If transwomen call themselves simply 'women', you, as a biological woman, are already redefined. 🙄

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 17/04/2025 08:35

All the ‘you’ve had an easy life if that’s all you’ve got to worry about’ posters. People can be bothered about more than one thing, at the same time, whilst going through life. The end.

It is infuriating having a label imposed on you by other people. I think you have to have lived a charmed life not to realise why it might be issue.

Also detest it with all my might.

You’re either a man, a woman…or a man that wants to wear a dress and think he’s a woman.

Oh God I despair

Enough4me · 17/04/2025 08:20

I think it's important to put the person first and then the condition: "man with dysphoria".
Factually correct but, if easier, "man and dysphoria aka MAD man".

Your feeling is wrong. Although that would make more sense than the shitshow they’ve managed to push all these years. If your pro-trans sentiments are based on this assumption then its no wonder you think TERFs are unreasonable!

Transman or Trans Man is a female person who most likely has an unnecessary double mastectomy, short hair and stuffs her pants with a fake willy to give her that big dick energy. Extra points for taking testosterone so that her vagina atrophies and she ends up sterile and with irreversible damage to hair growth, voice etc.

Transwoman is a male person who has implanted or strap on boobs and enjoys the feeling of wearing women’s clothes and make up (beard optional) because it’s “affirming”. They usually also still have a penis, but apparently its softer, more fragrant and delicate than a regular penis. May or may not take oestrogen and very rarely may go on to have a neo-vagina constructed out of a piece of bowel. This is an absolutely pointless piece of anatomy fulfilling none of the function of an actual vagina (gateway to the uterus) but makes a handy extra hole, which i guess is the only important function of a vagina to some people.

I think then the would simply say that you were born a female and you are a woman because you feel that you are a woman. Also wrong. I was born female and am a woman because I’m an adult who was born female.

I think your classification seems more complex

Daffodilsarefading · 17/04/2025 08:02

There is no need for any clarification.
It’s simply woman or trans woman.
Man or trans man.
The end,
I won’t be engaging with anyone who can’t follow this.

SnowflakeSmasher86 · 17/04/2025 08:02

Bogginsthe3rd · 17/04/2025 00:28

Yes I can understand that. My feeling is that a man who was born male but now identifies as behind a woman is called a trans man rather than just a man or cis man, no?

Agree op.
Someone once tried referring to me as a cis woman. It didn’t go down well and that didn’t try and pull that bollocks again.
Can you imagine men being told they are cis men?
