Weird thoughts other people must think...

Surely everyone has a fleeting thought of the bath falling through the ceiling whilst they're in it?

Does anyone else have this thought?

And other recurring little thoughts people have that other people must also think?

Another one is how I would secure the house in a zombie apocalypse 😅 watched a bit too much walking dead and played a bit too much the last of us, but I feel like I could survive…. Just not good at running 😂

I live by the sea, at the end of my road is a cliff with a slope down to the beach, when I’m walking the dog I often think what happens if there’s a tsunami… especially the last few days as the sea was calm as can be. Makes me feel a bit eerie… tbh I’m a chronic overthinker so even though I can’t think of them all I guarantee you I’ve over thought something like this about every situation I’m in 😂

When I'm in a lift , I always panic that I will get stuck and plan where I can pee

I do this too, my bladder starts getting twitchy as well.

I often wonder if how I see colour is the same as how other people do. Like my brain knows what blue looks like to me but does blue look the same through someone else's eyes. Does that make sense?

I had this exact conversation with my DD the other day, so this definitely makes sense to me!

I sometimes sit in the cinema and worry that the screen will fall down and crush everyone! I’ve since learnt that they are a screen rather than a giant TV, but I still worry about it.

If I’m in a shop with high ceilings where you can see the lights and pipes etc I worry they might fall off the ceiling and crush someone.

In a church I worry the beams and the lights on the ceiling might fall on my head.

Walking passed tall buildings I worry something will crumble off them and fall on my head.

Walking over bridges I worry until I’m across them that they might collapse.

Walking through parks I worry a big branch might fall off a tree and hit us on the head.

There is a common theme with mine!

Airplane toilet flush opens into the sky and it’s going to suck me out of the plane…

If I’m in the bath I’m really scared a shark is going to come bursting out of the plug hole.

It could happen you know

After watching Jaws when I was little, in the 70s, I was scared that a shark would come up through the toilet! It worried me for years.

I had one come true. I always wondered what I would do if being threatened by a man with a knife. Turns out I couldn’t scream or run - he was covered with blood and running towards me with a big blade. Luckily he ran straight past.

My grandad prepared me for that one: when I had a toy dagger with a retractable blade (children took these to school - unthinkable now!), he demonstrated using a dining chair as a shield. “You be the burglar, point that knife at me,” he said.

YourPinkLeader · 15/04/2025 23:03

Oh man I have the bath one every single day!! I swear my bath feels different under my feet than it used to and this has convinced me I’m going to go through the ceiling.

I haven't thought of that in the bath, but I did think of it while pounding the treadmills on the first floor in the gym!

Hermyknee · 15/04/2025 22:53

About how I would get out of a submerged car now you can’t wind windows down. Do you just wait for it to sink and fill up so you aren’t pushing against the water?

Crazybaby123 · 15/04/2025 22:52

Don't have the bath one.
But probbaly twice a week I look in the cupboards and work out mentally, if we had to leave and drive north immediately and not stop, like if there was a zombie attack, what food and other items would we take in the car. I mentally tot it all up in my head, would I take the pepper? would gold be of any value in the apocolypse, should I take my jewelry or will it become useless?, or should I take all the spices and use them to barter?

KhakiOrca · 15/04/2025 22:49

Multi storey carparks. I always park on the top level an I have a fear of being crushed underneath.
Also when I'm sitting in traffic over a motorway I worry it will collapse.

scalt · 15/04/2025 22:49

For those who worry about furniture crashing through ceiling: here are two funny things I remember from childhood.

The book “no jumping on the bed”, in which a boy in a high rise flat jumps on his bed which crashes through the floor, into the dining room of a elderly lady below, who says “I was not expecting company for my dinner!”, and they all fall through every floor in the building, taking a growing party of people with them.

There was an advert for a breakfast cereal in which greedy squirrels hear the family crunching, and they saw through the floor from below, so that the dining table crashes through the floor into the basement, and the squirrels get to eat the cereal.🥣 🐿️

My head has an absolute field day when it comes to weird thoughts! I just assumed that it is because I have an over-active internal voice, and because I spend a lot of time working on my own!

Sometimes the weird thoughts are hilarious (to me) and I have a terrible time of trying to keep a straight face in front of other people.

Everytime I go to the loo in the middle of the night without turning on any lights i imagine a rat jumping up and biting my bum...

BlueEyedBogWitch · 15/04/2025 22:35

Since I was a child I’ve had the recurring thought on opening a public loo door that I’m going to find a body in there.

No idea why.

Also yes to the bath through the ceiling scenario.

And I’ve often expected to find a rat in my toilet bowl after reading they can make their way up the pipes and bite you on the bum.

MagpiePi · 15/04/2025 22:32

When it is really windy at night I worry that the chimney is going to fall and come crashing through the bedroom ceiling.

And, how do you find anything if you are blind and you drop something. It is bad enough sometimes when you can see but the thing has bounced off in a random direction.

CalliopePlantain · 15/04/2025 22:29

I worry that my reflection will stay in the mirror after I’ve walked away

Chelsea26 · 15/04/2025 22:28

My mum and dad have a waste disposal and my mum and I were cleaning the kitchen once and I said “I don’t know what it is but whenever it goes I think about putting a big my hand down it - I never would but I think about it” and my mum said “oh my god Me too!”

PonkyPonky · 15/04/2025 22:27

Almost every time I hold a kitchen knife I think what if I sneeze or trip and the knife goes right into my eyeball.
