Bumcheeks fully on show at family attraction

Today I was at a local attraction aimed at young families. It's an outdoor attraction with a zoo, a few tame rides, a soft play, that sort of thing. Aimed at kids under 10.

There were two teenage girls there, probably about 16, didn't appear to be with anyone else, who were wondering around looking at the animals. One of them had on the shortest "skirt" imaginable. When I say bum cheeks were on show, I don't just mean a peek or a little glimpse. I mean the "skirt" ended almost at the top of her arse. It's truly was like a belt. Not only that but she was wearing a thong and fishnet tights. You could see her entire bum, and things were only just decent around the front.
She and her friend must have noticed quite a few shocked glances and maybe whispered comments because her friend said loudly "well that's THEIR problem isn't it"

Is it? AIBU to think its entirely inappropriate?

To be honest, I haven't seen any of those in and around the town I live in!

Summers coming..
and at that price they're pretty affordable..

Although postage is nearly as much as the skirt which may put a few off of purchasing.

The OP has already posted a picture showing just how short the "skirt" was.

Ah didn't see it.

Maybe it wasn't a mini skirt...

Micro skirts are worn today.

I suspect the pps mentioning minis and micro-minis haven't seen the type of porno-wear 'clothing' the OP is talking about.

This style is not in any way a skirt, or shorts. It's purely designed to expose the arse-cheeks right up to the anus and to draw attention to this area.

When minis and micro-minis were in fashion in the 60s they caused a stir, yes. But they were made possible from a fashion viewpoint by the advent of panty-hose. I don't think anyone would have worn them then with stockings and suspenders and certainly not with bare buttocks and a thong!. Also, even when tights weren't worn, women wore actual pants with very short skirts and hot-pants - it certainly wasn't the norm to wear such items with a G-string. G-strings or thongs were more for dresses where a VPL might show.

These were 60s "mini" skirts. With placards defending their right to wear them, in case anyone is in doubt that these were actual 60s mini skirts. They show legs, that's all. They are not even tight fitting.

This is not comparable to a completely bare arse. As you quite rightly say, proper underwear was worn.

The OP has even said that just a decent pair of knickers would be enough

My point was, in an ideal world it wouldn’t be a problem because there wouldn’t be leery people perving over kids. But it’s far from an ideal world. Obviously.

It's not just a matter of perving. What about those of us who don't want to see, or be forced to contemplate, the arse cheeks of anyone at all? Bottoms might induce sexual thoughts in some but to me they bring to mind sitting on the loo, doing a poo and wiping your bottom. I'd rather this whole side of things was kept private, thanks.

If you choose to dress like that and someone says 'You look horrible - you're backside is putting me off my ice-cream!' you'd better be able to take it.

I certainly wouldn’t choose to dress like that 🤣 Neither would our adult kids.

No, quite the opposite! It attracts predatory people and is a big no-no.

You don’t have to be a pervert to notice a bare arse. And, given that a bare arse is at the back of the body, a man who finds it a turn-on is not necessarily going to know that it belongs to a young teenager.

Which is why a responsible parent would tell a child dressed as such to go and put some bloody clothes on.

You're OK with a child's naked bum being on public show? It's not "just a bum", as you well know. It's a private part. So if people walked down the street with their penises out, would you be all "It's just a penis"? And what about breasts? You're being incredibly disingenuous. Just a bum indeed.

queenofthesuburbs · 19/04/2025 11:16

And I definitely would not allow my 16 year old to wear one!

queenofthesuburbs · 19/04/2025 11:15

Yes I get that they were shocking for the time, just as knees were shocking in the 1920s so I do get the point

And it therefore is evidence that those girls do want people to look at them!

MrsSunshine2b · 19/04/2025 11:08

queenofthesuburbs · 19/04/2025 10:52

And for those quoting mini skirts that they wore in the 1960s, when you see actual footage of that era, they weren’t that short. In fact many of them came quite far down the thigh.

The point was, they were shocking for the time period. There'll be something else in 2045. Frothing at the mouth won't stop teenagers making strange fashion choices.

toastandegg · 19/04/2025 10:58

Mini skirts weren’t but micro minis were, anyway I gave my opinion and stand by it, teens always try and shock the older generations as I said before

Totally agree about the cognitive dissonance.

And where are the boys wearing skimpier and skimpier outfits? Why is the fashion for boys nothing like this? I’d like those who claim this is all fine and dandy to explain that to me.

totally - this is another perceptive point.

There's a huge mis-match - cognitive dissonance in fact- shown in some replies on here, Nowadays we fuss to the nth degree about safeguarding of children - it's become super-protective over the last decade or so, and rightly in many ways. I guess everyone on this forum would agree with that?

And yet here we get some parents expressing the view that once (particularly girls) get to puberty, somehow they're OK with them displaying sexually-charged areas of their body to any old perv because a) it's 'the fashion' and b) no-one should be looking.

Yeah, right. Exposing yourself in this way is disrespectful to yourself and to those around you.

If you disagree with this, you'd also have to be OK with, say, a very elderly man or woman wearing the same kit. If that would bother you, then your argument collapses. If a wrinkly elderly man went to the park or zoo with his arse-cheeks on display the very same people who are OK with the girls' look would be frothing at the mouth!

CoffeeCantata · 19/04/2025 07:26

Well the teens don't agree with this comment. I mention to my 15 year old her shorts are to short she replies well men shouldn't be looking usually followed by women and girls can wear what they want and what they feel comfortable in should i wear a burka the literal response.

And teens are totally wise and aware of the way the world works, aren't they?

If your teen really thinks like this, maybe you should challenge her. She (and you) are being very naive. 'Men shouldn't be looking'. I ask again: what planet is she on? Has she never been out in the real world? Are you really OK with that level of naivety about sexuality? If she is actually OK exposing her arse cheeks to the world, please ask her why, exactly? I would be fascinated to hear!

Some pps on here refer to short skirts/short shorts. It's clear from the OP that we are not talking about these things. This get-up is of a whole different order and couldn't be called a skirt or shorts. I've seen such, and they are basically attention-begging porno-wear.

And as for the argument 'people should wear what they feel comfortable in' - what about making everyone else around you mighty uncomfortable? I suspect that's the whole point of outfits like the one OP is describing.

Give me anything but the faux-naive stuff, please!

Yes, this really ought to be the default answer but it isn’t, is it.

Unfortunately, predatory people will still see such clothing as an invitation. Wrong, obviously, but that’s just the way it is.

icant believe my cousin sent me a pic of her daughter off out today to a gig with one of those skirts on.
I suggested your thread and threw my hands up in the air in despair!

The micro mini or micro skirt was first popular in the late 1960’s

And it covered our backsides!
