What threads do you always hide?

If any!

If I scroll through and see anyone ask about accountancy help, HMRC advice, tax return, accounts etc I just hide them. I can't stand seeing 90% of the "advice" on those threads being absolute bollocks.

I used to hide the divorce ones when I was going through mine, I didn't want extra headspace going into it.

The Trans Obsessives appear to be turning this into a thread people want to hide 😂

Here we go again! It's not about 'trans'. It never has been. It's about men. But since you see everything is about trans, the 'trans obsessive' is you. I wonder if you dream about 'trans'.

You're the one talking about unfair advantages.

You're the one talking about unfair advantages.

Why do you suppose we have male sports and female sports, then? For fun? Why don't we have brick shithouse men smashing into women on the football field?

Laws or societal norms will not stop determined abusers and harassers. Abuse and harassment are already illegal.
I've not seen any evidence to suggest that trans women have an unfair advantage in sports.
People can and have changed sex, whether you like it or not, makes no difference.

So we give up, throw our hands up, say 'men will attack us anyway' and remove all safeguards and protections for women then? Or should we strengthen safeguards and give women and girls safe spaces - that our foremother feminists fought hard for? Why take a shit on their headstones?

Transwomen, as males, have enormous advantage over females. They are physically male and puberty gives them enormous advantage. Why do you think calling a post-pubertal male 'transwoman' means he loses the larger heart and lung size and capacity?

Um, no. You cannot change sex. You can change gender identity but you cannot change your DNA or chromosomes. That's not physically possible. Even transwomen themselves say they know they haven't actually changed sex. A de-nutted male dog is still a male dog. It's the same with humans.

Yeah those crazy feminists looking out for the rights of women & girls eh?! 🙄😆

Yep. Imagine being on a site for women, and then attacking feminists. Like, wtf are you doing on Mumsnet then if you hate women and feminists so much. Go post on a Mens Rights Activist site then.

Yes. We will have to share bathrooms with people that are men. Nice job, TERFS.

Ummm.... they're women.

HTH

DoddlesMcDoddle · 17/04/2025 03:12

menopausalfart · 16/04/2025 11:45

As for women's spaces, will fully transitioned trans men now have to share the bathroom with us?

Women don't get workable penises. They never 'fully transition'. And we know they're female.

Perhaps with the latest decision, people will 'detransition' if it's made harder for them. And then get psychological help. It can be a good thing to end this dangerous social contagion. One that is deeply homophobic, not just misogynistic. And women will realise they don't have to run away from womanhood, but accept it.

menopausalfart · 16/04/2025 11:43

@AllProperTeaIsTheft The reason I don't stop and read the comments is because of the hate that's directed towards me. Your arguments always fall flat.

No one directs 'hate' to you. Giving arguments in a discussion is not 'hate'. You're just after an excuse to side with the misogynists and run away from critical thinking and discourse.

DoddlesMcDoddle · 17/04/2025 03:07

KimberleyClark · 16/04/2025 11:09

But many don’t want even fully transitioned transwomen in female spaces. Or that not anti trans?

Because they are still male. And 97% from medical data of transwoman retain their penis and testicles for life. Almost none actually physically 'transition'. And how do you suppose we know who still has their genitals intact? How do we find out?

The problem is the male will still look male (have the male height, look, strength etc) and we'll know he's a male. He doesn't have the lived experience of being a girl into a woman. We won't feel comfortable fleeing there to escape a man when a male is there. We won't feel comfortable crying to our friend over a man. We won't feel comfortable rinsing out blood-stained underwear or mooncups at the sink. Adjust our clothes, bras. Or seek help from other women around if we're miscarrying.
See, we will know a male is there. Whether he has the dangly thing down there or not, we will know a male is there. And his lived experience as a male is not the same as ours as females. And we will not feel comfortable talking or being our female selves in front of him. He will make us feel uncomfortable and threatened and frightened, scared that he is there.

I don't hide them,I just don't bother looking at them. I never look at parking or driving ones, because as a non-driver,I find them boring. But I think I'm in the minority as many Mumsnetters seem to find them fascinating! 😂

I find the parking ones hilarious.

Derailment of the thread is impolite and unfair to the OP. The thread title states which threads do you hide so nothing about trans this that or the other.
Going back to the original OP I also hide threads that ask how much I earn or how much I have in savings, as I'm not telling the internet and I suspect a lot of replies would be bollocks anyway

Yup, and the posters doing that, are the reason so many of us hide the Feminism board.

Yes, the obsessive pregnancy testing is really unhealthy.

I went down that rabbit hole myself, so understand it, but it is not good for your mental health

TheKeatingFive · 16/04/2025 15:19

Back to the thread title, i don't hide them, but i get frustrated by the 'am i pregnant' threads. Randomers on the internet are not going to be able to tell you that.

I’d ask you what you mean by this curious, ideological statement but I don’t think the majority on this thread care to hear it.

Take it elsewhere.

Only you could decide that biological fact is 'ideology'

Quite the victory for biological reality isn't it?

Oh God yeah. The conspiracies on missing persons thread. Weird and distressing.😟

Edited

Very weird.

An offhand comment like ' bet the husband did it' I can understand even if it is terrible if a husband is innocent.

But when posters are so weird looking at maps of areas and tide times, amateur analysing body language of family members on the news and coming up with elaborate theories based on f-all other than the excitement of thinking they're almost a detective or a criminal psychologist - it gets increasingly bizarre.

And is increasingly common with the popularity of true-crime TV, YouTubers and podcasts.

Tandora · 16/04/2025 14:39

'Underage daughter having consensual sex with similar aged or slightly older BF' because it always leads to posters who have no idea about UK laws but watch a lot of American TV shows yelling 'it's statutory rape'.

Unpopular opinion threads- nearly always turn into a shit-show.

Anything with narcissist in the title because I can't bear the armchair psychology and ridiculous claims presented as fact.

Anything to do with recently missing persons. The Nicola Bulley and Jay Slater threads were appalling conspiracy theories and armchair detectives.

Anything to do with recently murdered people where a suspect hasn't been arrested yet. Because of the same reasons for missing persons threads.

The last two cause extreme distress for family members and friends in addition to being ridiculous.
