Please can I have your recurring miscarriage success stories please? After going through my 12th now I am in absolute pieces and just never want to leave my bed. Can you please tell me what helped you get your miracle baby?

I just need hope.

I'm so sorry for your losses 12 is awful sending lots of love. A friend of mine had 8 miscarriages before she had a child.

DustyMaiden · 07/04/2025 22:00

So sorry for your losses. My lovely DS was baby no 14, I don’t have any answers. Just kept going.

Waitingformyrainbowx · 07/04/2025 21:54

So sorry guys, just been really struggling if I’m Honest. Thank you for all your comments. I don’t know what to do for the best to keep trying or not 😔

I had a missed miscarriage then a live birth, then 3 more consecutive misscarriages, all at 6 weeks, then a little boy, who is now 16! I was 36 when I had him and He was my last chance I don't think I could have gone through it again especially at that age xx

Sw1989 · 03/04/2025 07:41

OP I am so sorry to hear you've gone through this 12 times. My wife has had 2 miscarriages, one at 6 weeks and one at 12, which was bad enough so I can't imagine how you must feel having gone through it 12 times. She's beginning some follow up investigations after the last one, which was horrendous (major haemorrhaging, and hypothermic shock) as she wouldn't be here now if I hadn't got her into A&E. I have also had my sperm tested and all good on that front. We have stopped for now in terms of TTC as can't bear to go through the stress of this again and may look to adopt in future.

  • after the initial 12 embryos I did 2 further rounds of egg collections and testing and the results gradually improved. Initially I had 25% normal, then final round 50% normal.
mummytrex · 03/04/2025 02:48

Agree with @LittleDoveLove egg quality is key and so her recommendation of "it starts with an egg" by Rebecca Fett.

My background prior to having 2 successful pregnancies: loss at 5 months, ectopic (ruptured), miscarriage. Following the ectopic I was advised I needed to do ivf.

My last miscarriage was an ivf pregnancy using a "top grade" embryo. After that miscarriage we opted to test the viability of embryos going forward.

I was devastate to find that my stash of embryos (12) we're all abnormal and would have resulted in miscarriages, or the birth of babies that wouldn't have survived long.

I cannot say for certain that the book made a difference, but having followed the recommendations my egg quality definitely improved (went from 100% abnormal to 50%) despite me obviously getting older.

Progesterone, reflexology, acupuncture are all helpful (the latter for relaxation if nothing else) but will not improve egg quality.

Really wish you the best of luck. Infertility is awful.

I’m a midwife working in early pregnancy, I am so sorry for your losses. I would absolutely recommend contacting Tommy’s - several of my clients have welcomed rainbow babies after numerous losses with their input and guidance. Be kind to yourself x

Bestfadeplans · 03/04/2025 01:25

Not me. But my step mum had 21 miscarriages and then a little girl. And my friend from work had 5 and then twins, and then another 3 miscarriages then twins again 😊

Good luck to you

Rtmhwales · 03/04/2025 00:22

We had six total. Did IVF to get DD who was born in July and then randomly fell pregnant with another DD due this July 4 months after the first was born! Second future DD seems to be sticking around and perfectly healthy (24 weeks now), no rhyme or reason.

Littleray24 · 02/04/2025 22:24

Hi @Waitingformyrainbowx I’m so sorry for your losses. It’s so incredibly lonely and heartbreaking what you’re going through, I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I had 5 losses between my DC.

I was referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic but didn’t receive great care, as they just prescribed me everything but with no rationale - it didn’t work.

However, I cannot recommend Prof Siobhan Quenby at Tommy’s (Coventry) enough. Your GP can refer you to Tommy’s directly. I wouldn’t have my second DC if it hadn’t been for her knowledge and research.

I also did follow the book ‘It starts with an egg’ and had acupuncture.

Wishing you all the luck in the world x

Mummyratbag · 02/04/2025 20:59

@Waitingformyrainbowx I'm so sorry, it's exhausting and heartbreaking. It takes over everything and just eats away at you. I remember feeling the same about doing everything right. Only you know whether you can face keep trying.

I have known of people who were treated at St Mary's though that have had success - when I was looking into it 17 years ago they were the reknowned experts and leading edge in things like immune response etc. We had had genetic counselling, blood tests etc locally and were told to take a few months out and try again.. so that was our next step, as I said I was very lucky in the meantime. Wishing you all the luck in the world.

LittleDoveLove · 02/04/2025 20:57

Sorry to read this OP. I had 3. I did IVF after those which allowed me to get more eggs out at once (as they thought it was due to egg quality with my age). It worked on my second round - which was my 3rd embryo transfer. I did also follow the book ‘it starts with the egg’ and did fertility accupucture. Wishing you the best.

ThewrathofBethDutton · 02/04/2025 20:49

OP I did the whole reoccurring miscarriage clinic, tests galore, everything normal.
recommended and prescribed high dose folic acid, progesterone, baby aspirin, clexane and like you, still miscarried on all of that treatment.

I was by then in my 40’s so made the very difficult decision to stop trying.
I was told 2 things by the reoccurring miscarriage experts:

  1. They do not know the reason for miscarriage in over 89% of all losses. There is no investment in research.
  2. Likely to be poor egg quality due to my age, therefore the likelihood of a healthy baby very low due to this.

So, I got the pill and waited for the 1st day of my period.

It never arrived.

Assuming I had retained products from the last horrific miscarriage because I felt so unwell, I had a scan looking for those retained products.

Not only was there a 7 week baby there, there was also a very clear heart beat. I had never seen one of those in any of my miscarriages.

I had my baby. Healthy and beautiful.

Still cannot believe my luck, my lottery win, my joy and my astonishment. I cannot tell you why lightning struck that time. I just have no explanation for it.

Waitingformyrainbowx · 02/04/2025 20:35

Thanks everybody I will try and answer everyone’s questions on one post,

I have tried progesterone and aspirin and unfortunately no luck with these, I have had the full blood count, thyroid, diabetes the usual kind of NHS Stuff still waiting on the scan of my womb they said they would do that but haven’t had that yet. My support is my husband really he is amazing but works away a lot so feeling very lonely feel like everywhere I turn there is people having babies being pregnant newborn babies. I have always been a happy outgoing person and this has turned me into someone who just goes to work and hides at home in my grief. I recently got a promotion but my head isn’t in it as all I can think about is having my dream which is a baby. So thinking of quitting. I just feel like I do everything I’m meant to do and not anything I’m not meant to do and it still happens 😭 xxxx

I’m so sorry OP. I know there are some threads on here for women with recurrent miscarriage which might be helpful from a medical perspective in terms of investigations. I’m sure I recall that you are able to self-refer to specialist recurrent miscarriage clinics such as those consultants mentioned above, rather than having to rely on your local hospital who may not be so good in terms of treatment.

Wibblywobblybobbly · 02/04/2025 20:28

I'm so sorry. I'd suggest reading up on Dr Shehata as a starting point. His private treatment includes a lot which isn't available on the NHS. I know lots of women who have children thanks to him after many miscarriages.

TiredmumwithMS · 02/04/2025 20:27

5 miscarriages here and one was a missed miscarriage. If you haven’t already ask for genetic testing as we had these after 4 and found out I had a genetic disorder. Sending you lots of love. I completely empathise xx

Ocularpatdown · 02/04/2025 20:25

So sorry for your loss. I had 5 losses, then my first dd followed by another 2 and a second dd. Never found out any cause for the losses despite lots of tests so can't offer any practical advice, but just wanted to let you know there is still hope xx

Crunchymum · 02/04/2025 20:23

Oh gosh, I'm so sorry to read this OP.

I've had 6 but I've also had DC in-between.

What investigations have you and your partner had? Is there any option to move to another clinic or even to go private?

Have you been advised to take baby aspirin or been prescribed progesterone?

I hope one day you get your longed for baby, life must feel so unfair right now ❤

Mummyratbag · 02/04/2025 20:21

I'm really sorry for all you are going through.

My story for what it's worth .. full term neo natal death of my daughter, missed miscarriage, another miscarriage at 7 weeks, lots of feint postives followed by period a few days later. Did everything acupuncture, vitamin supplements, fertility spell (yes really), started on aspirin 75mg (when agreed by GP) was just about to be referred to recurrent miscarriage clinic at Paddington, when I fell pregnant again..he's just about to do his GCSEs! He was followed by another boy a few years later 😍

I hope this gives you hope, I remember the absolute hopelessness and despair I really do.

dellymair · 02/04/2025 20:18

I'm so sorry you are going through this. It's a heartbreaking experience. I was very lucky to have success after 7 losses via IVF. Another recommendation for The Worse Girl Gang ever for advice. Also look into Doctor Shehata at Epsom clinic. You can see him via NHS referral or go privately. He has very high success rates and performs more tests that many recurrent loss clinics.

DaisyChainsForever · 02/04/2025 20:16

On my, 12 is awful OP. I've had 4, 2 of which I had a D&C for and also gone on to have 2 children. Let yourself grieve as much as you need to. Do you have anyone in real life that offers support?

soarklyknobs · 02/04/2025 20:12

Some of the latest research is indicating that sperm quality can have a big impact on miscarriage rates, so is your husband eating healthily, not consuming much alcohol, not smoking or vaping, exercising regularly etc?

Has your partner considered having their sperm quality tested?

Having a viable pregnancy really is a two person job, so make sure your partner’s sperm is tip-top to give yourself the best possible outcome and good luck to you both.

Peanutbutterjelly123 · 02/04/2025 20:07

So sorry for your losses OP!

I found them after my stillbirth but the worst
girl gang ever have some really good things on their online platform for fertility and about where to start with private testing. There podcast is great too. One of the ladies who started it had around 12 miscarriages too. Hopefully it will help you
