Competitive thread for those whose mother's day was shite like every other day. In my case because autistic DD in full meltdown mode before I'd even got out of bed, I have a horrendous chest infection but still had to go to work and toxic abusive ex gave me a mouthful of verbal abuse and now usual Sunday night shite of DD spiralling about school tomorrow. There's more but I'm too tired and ill to type. Come aboard and cheer me up by telling me how crap your day was. Pity party, all welcome.

Op one my teens has SEN (not both like yours) and we have had 5 years of school spiralling and walking on eggshells / meltdowns.. and my ex blames me for it all. It’s absolutely exhausting mentally and physically isn’t it? As you say… everything feels so much worse when you are feeling so rubbish.

No card or happy Mothers Day, here. Not four year old’s fault.
Was having a lovely day, plan was DH to cook a nice meal…

He had a toddler tantrum in the supermarket, and stormed off. Leaving me to buy the rest of it, then was a complete dickhead first the rest of the day. It’s all my fault, of course!

As @gamerchicksaid OP make some time for you when you can - doesn’t have to be today. Today just exacerbates it because of social media posts and crap. Lovely day as a mum as DS made a whistle stop visit from university overnight and went back today. Shit one as a daughter with a dementia mum. She’d been bloody horrible to me all day and ate the chocolate DS bought me! I would laugh but it would turn in to tears at the loss of such a strong and amazing woman.
so I had a long hot shower and read for ages in bed. A real treat for me.

Gamerchick I am glad you found some lovely photos to bring back some happy memories.

Sorry about your mum, that sounds hard. My best friend went through years of this with her mum who she lost in the new year to Alzheimer's. She found counselling helped and still does x

Sorry to hear yours has been shit. Mine was ok but only because it was so terrible with the lack of effort last year I told them (both teens) that I was really pissed off with them and that I work hard 365 days a year for them and it’s not on to make zero effort on Mother’s Day.so I did get a handmade card signed by both, and breakfast in bed. I also went out on a blossom walk with my friend which was the highlight of my day! Other than that it’s been cooking, cleaning, bed changing etc. Set your stall out now for next year OP and let them know it upset you this year. I also made it clear the last week or so. I don’t have a partner and my ex is shit so I had to!

I might seem forced but it taught them a lesson.. and I also think it’s teaching them about the importance of letting the people in their lives know that they are appreciated.

I hope you feel better soon

My kids are both young and both SEN and their (absent) fathers not a nice person these days so today is pretty much par for the course. TBF they did make me cards, breakfast etc but they can't help how incredibly hard work they are. Which is maybe easier to accept than a selfish teen. I think the day would have been ok if I wasn't do bloody ill.

No pity party here. I dug out the last MD card my daughter got me and spent the afternoon sorting through her clothes and shoes and handbags for charity.

Finding half my lost wardrobe in the process. Little bugger. Then found a pile of old photos in the same cupboard so had a few memories going through them. She was a mint kid Grin

Sorry yous have had a shit one though. I firmly believe in carving out some time just for yourself when you feel taken for granted. Something totally selfish for a bit. The world won't fall apart.

I can't think of what to say but I send you my best wishes xxx

The perils of social media. Keep telling myself that comparison is the thief of joy. Lots to be thankful and grateful for here but for some reason, this day makes me rage and feel emotional for no good reason! My husband is generally a helpful decent guy but today…. 🤬

I hope you feel better soon @ladygindivasounds like you have a lot going on ❤️

My ex gave my son some chocs and biscuits, wrapped up in cellophane, to give to me.

That he won in a raffle on Friday.

😂

That's lame 🤣

And looking around you and seeing everyone else being spoiled and having a lovely day etc makes it so much worse. Kind of why I started this thread, to feel less alone in my misery I guess 🤣

It's the lack of effort from those you love can be so hurtful. Your husband should have made more effort. Sorry you had a shit day. I hope you enjoy your holiday.

I’m sorry to hear this 😞 mine was shit but yours sounds worse (sorry).
My 13 year old hadn’t bothered getting a card or even saying Happy Mother’s Day. She is hard work at the moment generally. My husband hadn’t bothered to remind her or to help facilitate buying of a card or reminding her it was Mother’s Day. Spent the whole day cleaning and getting organised for going on holiday tomorrow while he lounged around and then went to the golf. Meanwhile on social media it felt like every other Mum was being spoiled and treated to lunch/dinner etc. I’m so pissed off tonight but trying to put it behind me. Same every year!
