I get a bag from my child. Who then asks to share them. No. Absolutely no. AIBU for a bit more thought? I don't like that I'm expected to share, they've gone off in a huff and my OH is also in a huff.

Bloody hell! I’ve never ever opened a gift of chocolates and NOT offered to share them. You’ve spoilt your DC’s treat now, not surprised they’re all upset. Selfish.

It’s not her DC’s treat though? What an odd comment 😂

Riaanna · 30/03/2025 10:20

If you hate mini eggs and your child knows you hate them I can see a bit of disappointment.

If you like them YABU.

My 8 year old got me a fudge. We both love fudge. I gave him the fudge because I love him.

Changeeman · 30/03/2025 10:20

I got a wispa gold one year 🤣😋

Ellopal · 30/03/2025 10:20

I know this is a bit OTT what I’m about to say but all I can think about reading your posts is mothers whose children aren’t here, or ill in hospital. Or the women who are longing for a child. All of them would love the opportunity to share a bit of chocolate with their children.

There’s bigger fish to fry, OP. Count your blessings. I just could never imagine resenting my six year old for wanting a bit of my chocolate.

Tricho · 30/03/2025 10:20

You have (what I assume is) a happy healthy child.

A happy healthy child who has, in their own very juvenile way, shown their love.

And all you can do is bitch and moan and be a martyr over something I very much hope is a joke.

Give your head a wobble, count your fucking blessings and go and be with your child.

There are dozens of women on this board who would give their right arm to have what you have.

Happy Mothers Day

Pressed You are not being unreasonable by accident

hockityponktas · 30/03/2025 10:16

Hmmmm I’d just say I’m not opening them yet and eat them myself when they’re not around!

Well I'd probably offer one.

But I wouldn't open them until I wanted to.

Why is OH in a huff?

Did he want one too?

Maybe he should have bought them a bag to share if so!

6 years old. I'm just miffed that it's a gift I have to share. Yes it's mother's day but I'm having to share my gift. It would be nice to receive something that is just mine.

That's parenting! Seriously open them up and share, the child is 6! Get another seperate bag for when they are in bed. Lighten up about it, you are mum and your baby is watching and taking all of this in

Bloody hell, I can't imagine not wanting to share a little treat with my kids who at that age would've been very excited at having done a nice thing for me.

Mini Eggs are a lovely present, but they're not precious and must be shared!

Yep, we loved our breakfast in bed followed by a few celebrations. Not my favourite chocolates but wouldn't cross my mind to be annoyed - especially annoyed enough for my 6 year old to notice!

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 30/03/2025 10:18

Jesus fucking Christ. And I say this as someone who bloody loves mini eggs, and absolutely would not want to share, but you’re being a dick.

My boys bought me some chocolate for Mother’s Day and they had one before I did!

Dracarys1 · 30/03/2025 10:18

My 8 year old DD opened my presents and cards from her and her brother and I will definitely be sharing the chocolates with both my children later. When you're a parent not much is truly yours anymore but the beauty should be that you don't care. I hope you apologised to your child.

Perculiar · 30/03/2025 10:18

I’ve got a box of Maltesers. I’ll share them.

I don’t think it needs to be a big deal op

iseenyouwithkefir · 30/03/2025 10:18

You don't "have" to share, just say no. But then don't expect your child to share when they are given a gift.

... they've gone off in a huff and my OH is also in a huff. This would bother me more; why's everyone huffing?

farmlife2 · 30/03/2025 10:17

Aw, it was something they thought you'd like. It doesn't matter what it is if they gave it in love. She's only 6. And yes, I'd have shared. I always offer.

Newmummy343 · 30/03/2025 10:17

Honestly get a grip. Your poor child and DH.

Sugargliderwombat · 30/03/2025 10:17

You wouldn't share? She's the six year old!!! YABVU.

Oddsocksanduglyshoes · 30/03/2025 10:16

PinkiOcelot · 30/03/2025 10:10

God how old are you? You’ve ruined the day by being ridiculous.

I wouldn’t care if this was me. I’d open and share and wouldn’t be bothered if I’d only got a couple.

This 100% the joy would be in sharing the happiness with my child and the fun of a chocolate breakfast not hoarding them on my own

hockityponktas · 30/03/2025 10:16

Gemmawemma9 · 30/03/2025 10:16

You should have got the mini eggs (to share) plus another gift that’s JUST for you.
A bag of mini eggs alone is a shit pressie for Mother’s Day. Your partner has a cheek being in a mood with you.

Vaxtable · 30/03/2025 10:15

Wow just wow. You are a mother your child has given you a present and you are miffed because they want a chocolate

and they are 6

dont beso bloody childish and give them a chocolate

Nothinglikeagoodbook · 30/03/2025 10:15

Good lord, how ridiculous.

If your DC was 16 you might possibly have a point.

As your DC is 6, you don’t.

TheWonderhorse · 30/03/2025 10:15

I think your DD would have been proud of giving you your gift, and been excited about your happiness with it. What you have done is really sad, and I hope she isn't too upset.

I was really hoping you were joking…. Give the kid some chocolate ffs

Offtobuttonmoontovisitmrspoon · 30/03/2025 10:14

Assume that this is tongue in cheek and that you aren’t really being such an ungrateful baby?
