Everyone’s raving about it

I don’t even have a Netflix account atm

I watched it all. It was ok. But it didn’t live up to the hype for me. The one shot side of things made it slow. And i didnt enjoy the camera just following people walking as much as it did.
when i put episode 3 on i was so confused i went back to see if id fallen asleep at the end of episode 2. I found it disjointed. A lot of the acting was quite wooden-the main police office character was terrible. Very flat. Stephen Graham as a tortured soul again.
it was an interesting concept and has got us all talking about something important but it could have done much more with it. And I personally disagree that the victim was lost in it. Male on female
violence is so often about the perpetrator in any news and this was another example of that.
Id say watch it and see what you think!

I also don’t know why the discussions have all been around boys and misogyny. The girl was openly bullying him.

None of the messages or topics were new or surprising - why do people need to have their social issues served up as drama in order to engage with them? We already knew about youth knife crime, Andrew Tate, misogyny, bullying and teenage boys killing teenage girls. So why are people behaving as if this is some revolutionary new topic?

I didn't know what all those emojis meant. Do most adults?

I thought it was disturbing and educational, and I feel that some of the posters on this thread are missing the point.

And the acting was utterly brilliant.

I think it’s really good from an acting and technical point of view - the camera work, dialogue and so on.

The plot not so much, it’s all a bit vague.

AuntieBsBramble · 27/03/2025 07:36

It's really good technically - I found the one shot thing really drags you in. But it isn't story telling in the conventional sense, it's more of an experience and a conversation starter than a drama. I understand why some people are irritated by it and want it to do other things (take a clearer line, have a story arc that ends with resolution, show other points of view. Doesn't do any of those things).

I really enjoyed episodes 1 and 3 - found 2 irritating but ok - fast forwarded a lot of 4

I enjoyed the first episode, but found the rest increasingly annoying. And I found most of the acting irritating (the boy was v good). Stephen Graham only seems to have one acting mode. Overall I was very disappointed. Lots of storylines were set up only to be instantly dropped, and the drama couldn't make its mind up whether the problem was the boy's misogyny or the girl's bullying or both.

Edited

i think this was partly the point. The discussion on what the problem truly is, is subjective and always debated.

DustyLee123 · 27/03/2025 07:35

No, don’t waste your life. Stephen Graham plays Stephen Graham, and all boys are misogynists, that about sums it up.

Nope found it boring

Bodonka · 27/03/2025 07:31

I’m firmly of the belief that everyone who comes into any contact with teenagers/all society really should watch it. It’s good, but also extremely eye opening.
