I blow my nose on the washing before it goes in the machine... rather than find a tissue!

If it was disgusting in my eyes, I wouldn't do it.

But people at the place I used to work at before having the kids gave me grief for not washing my hands after a wazz (i wash them after a poo obviously)

That's grose my daughter has ASD and OCD. She has a routine after washing her hands she lifts the lid on the toilet and insists on flushing it again. I make her wash her hands again. I've had family asking why I'm telling her to wash her hands again. Especially if we're about to have something to eat.

There are just as many germs on the taps and the door handle. So when you come out of the stall, you turn on the tap, which leaves some germs and picks up some too. You wash the germs off your hands, then turn off the tap, getting more germs on your hands. Then you open the door, getting more germs on the handle, and picking some up as well. Then you go to the kitchen and turn on the tap to fill the kettle.

We're surrounded by germs. Good hygiene can reduce risk, but it can't stop you coming in contact with germs. And in shared loos, there's nothing you can do to avoid them, short of a hazmat suit.

Edited

You take a fresh paper towel after you've dried and washed your hands, open door with said paper towel, prop door open with foot and put paper towel in bin without touching bin lid (it was a swing lid). This was in the office loos not quite so easy when you are in the loos at the service station on the motorway. There you open the door with toilet paper and drop into the toilet. Outside you just have to do your best and antibac gel when you get back to the car

Sometimes I dust the bedside table, bathroom shelves etc with clothes im about to put in the wash. Socks, leggings etc

I do that on a regular basis! It’s going in the wash anyway, I’ve already got it in my hand, it’s just efficiency in my book. 😄 (not knickers btw)

Chronic fatigue has a way of bringing a whole new perspective to all manner of household chores, to be fair...

I have occasionally dried the rim of mugs that have been draining on the draining board, so mostly dry other than a bit of damp around the rim, on my boobs (covered in bra and t-shirt) - they're just the right shape and you can do two mugs at a time before putting them back in the cupboard...Anyone fancy a brew? ☕😁

🤣🤣 I do this

Feelinglikeacrapmam · 25/03/2025 18:47

I used to do this and I'd forgotten about it, haven't done it in years! Off to go enjoy it again....lol

😄😄 yes, live your best life, why not

Brilliant!

I used to do this when I was little, we had 3 flights of stairs and I’d race to the top doing it😂
Might start doing it again!

😭😭 it certainly makes you feel youthful 🤭

MyKingdomForACat · 25/03/2025 19:03

Blowing dust from in between the spindles of the bannisters instead of hoovering or using a duster.
Wipe dust off the big mirror with whatever is in the wash basket next to it. Grate the hard skin on my feet over the bedroom floor and kick the bits that come off under the bed. Put the cat’s bowls and plates in to soak with coffee mugs.

Hwi · 25/03/2025 19:03

May I please answer on behalf of several posters who made me literally gag when I was reading a thread yesterday - adults taking baths together with their babies and young children and normalising it! So basically, despite much research into what bathwater contains (faecal matter present between buttocks, urine, sweat, viruses, fungi) they happily do it. Gross (and vulgar too).

So 🤷‍♀️ everyone in my household has been inside me in one way or another so I doubt my spit would bother them

I won’t even share a glass of water with my lot. In or out of me 🤣

Who’s ‘we’? I don’t give a damn if a man’s touched his cock before I shake hands with him. His dick’s almost certainly far more clean than anything else we all touch every day.

I guarantee you that there are more bacteria on every door handle, keyboard and phone screen you touch - and indeed on your own hands - than there are on the shaft of a man who showers daily.

Sorry, I should not have spoken for all.

But really you don't mind shaking a penis hand? What about if a woman had just wiped then shook your hand? Fanny Hand?

He’s not showering with Domestos. And I don’t want to shake hands with this:

The penile microbiota may also contain anaerobic bacteria, such as Clostridiales, Porphyromonas, and Prevotella, some of which are associated with bacterial vaginosis (BV).

🤮

You already have those bacteria on your own body.

Differentstarts · 25/03/2025 19:01

kungfoofighting · 25/03/2025 18:58

Mmm but then there’s toothpaste and spit on the towel?

That's gross. And why we don't like shaking hands with men.

Omg thank god I'm not the only one🤭😂

I can't get up the any other way - overweight and the knees won't take it otherwise

OldChairMan · 25/03/2025 18:58

samarrange · 25/03/2025 18:34

I sort of understand this. You get up in the morning, have a shower, all clean, pop the old chap in your y-fronts, nothing bad can get in there with it. And urine isn't all that germ-laden anyway. (But don't kid yourself: There is a cloud of very fine droplets all around the stream. Plus the accumulated post-pee drips. 😱)

But "you touched your willy" is not the only reason why you should wash you hands after having a pee. You should wash your hands because washing your hands regularly is a good thing to do, because everywhere else is filthy.

Without getting too obsessive about it, remind yourself, every surface I touch is covered with germs and crud, and that's now all over my hands. In fact there's a case to be made for washing your hands before you use them to pop the old chap out of your y-fronts.

🤮

Jabberwok · 25/03/2025 18:58

Wow there are some cringe makers on here.

Ok I was a professional gardener and if the customer wasn't in and I was desperate I would dig a hole to poo (only in gardens where I knew they couldn't work in otherwise I had a bucket and plastic bag). I clearly filled it back in. I always carried wet wipes. Only when I was really desperate. Ok, one time I was sick in one with a huge hangover

Not me but I caught my toddler wiping her noonoo on the bathroom hand towel after a wee… she had probably been doing it for a while before I noticed!

Your daughter and my friends son must be soulmates 🤣

Differentstarts · 25/03/2025 18:57

LeaderBee · 25/03/2025 16:40

Wipe my mouth with the bathroom towel if i still have a load of toothpaste around it in a morning.

Why is this disgusting i thought this was normal 🫣

MistletoeHolly · 25/03/2025 18:57

I put my fingers down the front of my pants to scratch and have a sniff of my fingers afterwards. I have a very deep belly button hole and it gets really smelly in there after the gym so I have a good dig and sniff

shellyleppard · 25/03/2025 18:57

@Bologneselove my dad still does this....and he's 80!!! 😳😳

I sometimes climb the stairs on all 4s when dd isn't home 🤭

I love doing that but do it no mattwr who is home. Why hide it 🤷‍♀️

Hyperbowl · 25/03/2025 18:24

You must be incredibly flexible. I must admit, I’m slightly jealous. 😂

I've done it since I was a child so I think it's actually the reason for my flexibility in that area 😂😂
