WIBU to stay in bed all day

For the last 5 years my DHs 20 year chronic condition has been one flare up after another. He is finally on biologics and is feeling better than he has in years.

Over those 5 years I've lost my DM, gone fully NC with my father, had extended family bereavements, DDs relationship dramas, DSs illnesses, my menopause and all the life/house chores and admin.

Today DH has gone out with one of his friends (still not well enough to drive, or walk too far, but wants to go see another of his friends in next town). This is literally the first time he's left the house in months.
And I don't want to get up. It's 1.25pm and I'm still in bed. He'll be back about 4. Obviously I'll get up and cook when he returns but I'm lying here feeling bad for being so lazy.
Aibu or am I justified in wanting a complete break from my life just for 1 day

Sounds like you need and deserve some down time, have the lie in and get up when you feel like it I say

Get back in that bed right now and stay there!😁

Well. Coming from such a respected actor is almost like doctors orders, yes?

Not at all, do it.

My husband went on biological for his autoimmune condition and within one week he was symptom free. I realised afterwards how draining it had been for him, and to some extent to the rest of us. I really hope he feels the benefits soon.

That's fantastic. DH started his mid jan and it hasn't taken too long to to get things under control. But we've been here before so I'm keeping everything crossed that THIS time he will carry on responding.
The injections he was on bottomed out after about 6 months. So baited breath time.

Go for it!!!

Lay around like you haven't lain around in years. This is a self care treat yourself well day because your body is telling you to take some time out.

My kids and I all feel it when the seasons are changing. A bit tired and not quite up to much, low energy, and a day of lassitude really helps.

I've just felt so drained for the last few weeks. It's like everything has caught up with me, all at once.
I fell asleep at 6pm on the sofa yesterday. For 2 hours I was out like a light. 11pm I was knackered again. Slept till 7am and dozed on and off till about 9.
I could probably sleep again if I put my mind to it, lol.
My best friend has texted me and told me off for wasting a beautiful day. It's not fucking beautiful. It's cold outside my duvet. I know this because I went to the loo. I haven't even had breakfast and I cba to go down to make lunch.

You are not unreasonable to do whatever you would enjoy the most if that's staying in bed do that!!

I'm glad the bio is working for DH and I hope this improves his quality of life and yours🤗

If you need to rest you need to rest. There's no shame in that.

Mydogisamassivetwat · 25/03/2025 13:29

God no. Enjoy a bit of peace to do as you please.
