She ordered a Curry and hasn’t paid me

Friend came to my house

I was going to cook but she asked if I fancied a curry. I said that would be really nice actually

Her JustEat app wasn’t working so I said have a look on mine for places that are open. She picked Indian.

I put everything I wanted in and she added hers. Total came to £52ish. Over 65% of that cost was hers.

I said I could just check out and sort it later. I have messaged to ask if she had the money today as a gentle reminder, and she said she thought it was my treat?

I said oh, we must have got crossed wires then. She said ‘I did cover the shop’

She went to the corner shop for wine and snacks. I got a Grape Fanta!

Where do I go from here? Leave it? Was it reasonable for her to assume it was in fact my treat?

A whole teaspoon? Why?

BRILLIANT! I actually spat filtered water all over my screen when I read that. Is this the kind of high end material you'll be lobbing out on Thursday night? What a scream for all the other diners.

I'm sure you can order every dish on the menu! Sure if it's only occasionally like once an evening it's actually proven to be very good for you.

I have it for breakfast brunch lunch and dinner.

Sometimes a little snack before bedtime

That's why I'm a teeny tiny size 4

Why order so much food?

When ordering from my local Indian we order one grain of rice, a crumb of naan and a teaspoon of curry each - and there's still enough for breakfast the next day as leftovers. And it costs us 30 pence including delivery

If it has Lamb Dopiaza count me in

With yummy poppadoms rice and nan.

Mind as I'm in Belfast I might have to swim over which will kill all those extra calories

@JohnWayneswife FYI, I didn’t ever describe it as a “big” banquet night!

But you are of course welcome, but it is just a banquet night we have in the UK Indian restaurant.

Now THAT is what I call funny.

So cute how well you two are getting on. You might even get an invitation to her Big Banquet Night this Thursday 😘

Oh I do hope so!

Me too

But I had to try🤯🤯🤯

It's like wading through fucking treacle.

Is treacle high in calories? Hope it doesn't trigger our Nigella too much🤯

Do you think one person ordering a rice and TWO naans for herself is not a massive meal? My DH and I order one rice and one naan between us. I've recently been on Wegovy so I eat much smaller meals than I used to, but even when I was eating much more than was good for me, we still ordered one rice and one naan between us. At a push we might have ordered a second rice if DH was feeling especially hungry or wanted some to use with leftover curry the next day, but who on earth orders TWO naans plus a rice just for themselves?

If you don't think that's alarming then there is something wrong with you.

Seems a bit extreme!

Haha. I’ve actually just had homemade beef Massaman curry (no naan but I did have rice).

I know there’s been quite a bit of focus on the wrong thing, ie the naan or rice - I’m guessing is to do with too many carbs in one meal? (Otherwise I don’t know what the problem is) but massaman and gang garai gai curries both have potatoes in them and served with rice 🤷‍♀️

My DH has just made lamb shanks in a madras curry, OMG! Delicious!

We are going to have it tomorrow, because recipe said it’s best next day.

Obs with rice and naan!

I also am not going for a devil may care attitude @jenrobin It's an anonymous forum, maybe other posters really get concerned with how they are received. If that's you then please don't project the same viewpoint into me.

Fair! 😂

I really want a curry with rice, naan bread and a poppadom now.

I’m now going to disengage, because you’re becoming obsessive!

Hope you can deal with your obsession with food, it’s obviously a massive trigger for you.

Oh NOW you're going to disengage... Because when I ignored you for the previous 24 hours I couldn't shake you. That's cool though, bye.

IlooklikeNigella · 24/03/2025 20:29

I'm still waiting for you to explain what constitutes a successful weightloss programme. It shouldn't be a difficult question given you don't believe I'm running one.

For someone who doesn’t care, you’ve spent a long time going on about it! And still continue, I don’t care BUT (insert another lecture)!

Boring!

Are you fat shaming me or Nigella? I do enjoy my food!

I'm not fat shaming anyone. Nigella is gorgeous. Lucky you if you do look like her.

ThatHazelGuide · 24/03/2025 20:25

Could we draw a line under this now and leave some room for OP to return and give us the conclusion many of us are still here for?

Although, I'm almost done waiting to be honest

Edited for typo's

I haven't a clue what you eat and I doubt you and I will ever be sharing a meal in the same company so.... Why do you think I'm having a go at your eating habits?

jenrobin · 24/03/2025 20:17

I'm saying this kindly, because I'm totally willing to believe you don't care what people eat, if you say so....
But. Dozens of posts saying you don't care what people eat (followed by mentions of blinkers, what is "normal" and frequent mentions of obesity) doesn't have the devil may care effect you're probably going for. If you're trying to give the impression that you don't care... Less is usually more.

I don't have any judgemental feelings about what people eat. Most people think they are doing the right thing. Definitely most people are trying to do the right thing by themselves.

I work with obese people everyday who are struggling so much with their own self esteem, physical restrictions etc.

I feel strongly about how society's new norms are making it harder and harder for most people to avoid ending up obese.

jenrobin · 24/03/2025 20:17

IlooklikeNigella · 24/03/2025 20:14

No answer then, cool.

Here listen, why don't you take another trawl through my old posts on other threads, see can you find anymore where I mentioned traumatic old life events and stick some more laughing emojis on them.

But please understand I could not give a damn what you or any other posters eat. Once everyone is happy with themselves that's all that counts. But please don't be idiotic enough to not realise that massive portions are contributing to the huge increase in obesity levels.
