She ordered a Curry and hasn’t paid me

Friend came to my house

I was going to cook but she asked if I fancied a curry. I said that would be really nice actually

Her JustEat app wasn’t working so I said have a look on mine for places that are open. She picked Indian.

I put everything I wanted in and she added hers. Total came to £52ish. Over 65% of that cost was hers.

I said I could just check out and sort it later. I have messaged to ask if she had the money today as a gentle reminder, and she said she thought it was my treat?

I said oh, we must have got crossed wires then. She said ‘I did cover the shop’

She went to the corner shop for wine and snacks. I got a Grape Fanta!

Where do I go from here? Leave it? Was it reasonable for her to assume it was in fact my treat?

As I said …… obsessed! Why I disengaged from her, for her own benefit!

Talk about keep stirring up trouble.

I only came on here last night to find out if OP was getting her money back, to be bombarded with a full on lecture about eating habits and obesity🤣

OP did she get back to you yet?

Look back at your screechy posts last night.

Only person getting worked up was you🤣

You were hyperventilating and getting triggered at the thoughts of double carbs and were VERY serious about it too.

Personally I don't give a fiddlers fuck if folk want to eat whatever they want. You cane across very judgemental and lectury, which was why a lot of posts diffused it with humour.

You cane across like the slimming lady from Fat Friends😆

@Hollowvoice and @Rattai don't be getting them all worked up again. It must be rice and naan, anything else is ridiculous.

All of her excuses (app not working, doesn’t do online banking) are just the modern equivalent of the tight friend who always forgets their wallet!

Or that old chestnut, the cheque’s in the post.

Fwiw I always order curry with just naan

Hollowvoice · 25/03/2025 09:17

IlooklikeNigella · 24/03/2025 17:41

Well I'm sure somebody somewhere does.

waves yep that's me
I much prefer naan to rice so I pass on the rice and stuff more lovely naan into my face

MsBucket · 24/03/2025 23:47

@Crymeashowr That’s a really good point. Hopefully OP gets her money back though.

Crymeashowr · 24/03/2025 23:44

Did she say thank you for the meal when she left? As if she assumed it was a treat surely she’d have shown her gratitude before leaving and you could have repeated that you want half the cost returned. Her response was rude though and I wouldn’t invite her back regardless of what happens next.

Absolutely. I can’t be without a rice cooker anymore. If one packs up I immediately have to get another.

What with the slow cooker and rice cooker I just left them to do their thing. So easy.

Thank you for taking the time to answer. :)

Stupid question: don't mock. Is it worthwhile getting a rice cooker?

I am now going to have to Google a recipe. Mind you, I'm supposed to be cutting back on the carbs and concentrating on protein...

I actually forgot to put the potatoes in 😁 I have got cauliflower rice in the freezer but decided to have real rice. No naan as I can’t find a supermarket naan I like.

It is. Very easy to make as well. Did it in the slow cooker (and rice in the rice cooker).

Haha. I’ve actually just had homemade beef Massaman curry (no naan but I did have rice).

I know there’s been quite a bit of focus on the wrong thing, ie the naan or rice - I’m guessing is to do with too many carbs in one meal? (Otherwise I don’t know what the problem is) but massaman and gang garai gai curries both have potatoes in them and served with rice 🤷‍♀️

Oooooh! Sounds good!

I'm now questioning OP's character. OP has left us hanging, whilst watching a bun fight go on and on and on and on, on her thread.

I think CF was executing some revenge. Perhaps OP had annoyed CF with similar inconclusive behaviour in the past.

You can’t have a bun AND a fight - that’s just absolute greed and every single person in the whole wide world who isn’t a gluttonous lard bucket agrees.

Every restaurant that I’ve visited in my 499 years as a successful slimming coach asks if you want a bun OR a fight

The nans have already caused a clusterfuck!

Why order so much food?

When ordering from my local Indian we order one grain of rice, a crumb of naan and a teaspoon of curry each - and there's still enough for breakfast the next day as leftovers. And it costs us 30 pence including delivery

Glutton. Don't you realise there's a cost of living crisis?

If it has Lamb Dopiaza count me in

With yummy poppadoms rice and nan.

Mind as I'm in Belfast I might have to swim over which will kill all those extra calories

Edited

That’s DHs dish of choice, in a restaurant. I’ll get him to practise the Dopiaza!

I’ll bring a towel and hoodie for your swim, I myself am a cold water swimmer, so I know how you’ll feel.
