To find so many police bullies?

Is it just me who finds so many police just utter bullies?

I unfortunately had to call them today and the officer was just so arrogant at knowing it all (while knowing nothing and just completely ignorant) and then as I stood holding my door open for him to leave he grabbed hold of my knocker and yanked the door taking my arm with it hurting me and has broken my knocker.

I'm just so sick of it. I phoned the police to report his assault of me and apparently you can't report a crime a police officer has committed- I have to make a complaint. And no, they won't send a different officer round to take a statement from me (about what I originally phoned the police for.) - they will send him around to potentially assault me again - thanks for the understanding!

I'm told I have to make a complaint for inappropriate force - I mean what exactly do they consider appropriate force against a member of the public politely holding the door open for them? The mind boggles. There's no point in making a complaint as I tried it last time and 4 months later there's been no response! Noone can tell me when I may or may not get a response. They are literally a law unto themselves!

I have not had need to use the police but I do know many police officers personally, and more commonly their wives , and almost with no exception the police I have encountered are all bullying bastards (and often cheating bastards and or violently abusive husbands) but I appreciate that is anecdotal

Is there a common denominator in this at all do you think?

The police themselves perhaps? Or are you trying to suggest the OP?

The culture of the police and their internal processes are set up in a way where poor service is consistent.

I reported a crime, gave all the details then to my surprise the officer wrote a false report that led to my crime report being closed. I complained. The officer called me angrily, shouted & accused me of lying about giving him the correct information.

Later on he admitted to 1. Initially writing the correct information and then false information later, and then confronting me over his incompetence when I had in fact given the right information. His sergeant attributed this to them being understaffed and him being inexperienced and forgetful. He literally said to me that under the circumstances, the service given was shit but “acceptable”. The bar is extremely low.

I hate the police too. They probably hate me too - I have placed formal complaints about officers and escalated it all the way after being fobbed off. Certain police officers think they are above the law.

I guess you’d get the odd one but in my experience the majority a doing a difficult and dangerous job these days. There is little respect both from the general public and not much concern for their welfare from their managers. It’s not a job I would like to do.

Two interactions with police in as many months and both have resulted in complaints. Maybe they're not the problem 🤔

I've had various interactions with officers both in a work capacity and personally and have always found them helpful and professional.

But no doubt this will turn into a police bashing thread

I imagine most police officers are so used to dealing with abusive /inconsiderate /uncooperative members of the public that they have to create a certain attitude themselves coz you come across so many that have no patience and talk to you so unprofessionally , not all but many don’t seem to care about people anymore .

But working with the public does that to you . I worked in retail for 10 years til recently and the last few years I’ve struggled with patience dealing with people . Because the public have become arseholes . Selfish , impatient and rude so I can imagine working with people who are breaking the law they are coming across even worse behaviour from people .

They are only human at the end of the day and that uniform doesn’t make them any less so .

This is very strange I work with police day in day out and haven't witnessed or experienced this, and when I've had to call them about personal matters, intruders and supporting a friend report domestic abuse and sexual assault they were fantastic. Yet you've had grounds for two formal complaints in a few months.
Why would an officer deliberately damage your door? Were they trying to close it not realising your were holding it? You've not really given any detail as to what constitutes your complaints or what they've done to make you perceived them as a know it all, so it's difficult to comment on your situation.
