I work with a group of women, I put a picture onto our whatsapp group (which is 3 of us), and no response not even am emogi. AIBU to be hurt. I would have been happy with a heart 💚

I'm not interested in my colleague's children, but I am interested in my colleagues and making our interactions smooth and pleasant - so I would 'like' a picture in these circumstances, especially if everyone else had ignored it.

Perhaps your work colleagues do not celebrate st patrick's day and do not want a cute picture of children reminging them that it is st patricks day.
Are you aware of their religous/cultural beliefs?

NestaArcheron · 18/03/2025 07:11

Are you particularly close? I wouldn’t respond to a colleagues photo of their kids, especially out of the blue. I’m sorry you’re so upset, but this is a massive non issue.

You’re going to have tp figure out a way of being less thin-skinned, OP.

Why would your work group be interested in a St Patrick's day photo of your kids? Unless they are Irish or heavily invested in them, what's the point?
Not being personal, but the children of work colleagues are of very little interest to their colleagues.

Yeah op, it’s just bad manners. An acknowledgment costs nothing. I’m sorry you feel rubbish and humiliated about it. Just try to rise above and see this as a lesson that they aren’t the friends they thought you were.

You'll get someone calling you seven ways to christmas for pointing that out. You're very brave!

Do your work mates celebrate St Patrick's Day OP? Could it be something to do with the occasion you are celebrating?
I don't know where you are based but in so many places St Patrick's Day has just become an excuse for a massive booze up, starting early in the morning. As such it's become a nuisance for a lot of people.

I'm sorry you are so upset.

Themaths · 18/03/2025 01:46

I really thought they were friends but they just work mates. It's hurtful for me, I know that's pathetic.

Do the others post photos of their kids?

They do. And that's why it hurt me.

Group chats are soul destroying. I dismantled the family one for this reason - a no response is like a whole crowd turning their back on you. Just horrible.

It was a picture of my kids for Saint Patrick's Day, and nothing, just two blue ticks.
