All crime docs are about men killing women!

I was trying to find somehing to watch on Netflix last night. Looked at crime documentaries. They're all about men killing women. Or men killing children.

I like a bit of true crime sometimes, but it's actually too much. What the hell have we been putting up with over decades and centuries! There was a guest on Steven Bartletts Diary of a CEO who said the most dangerous person to a woman is her husband! I believe it. We've taken this shit for too long.

Give it another 20 years and men will be talking about toxic femininity. They will be thinking- I cant compliment a woman as I'll be labeled a pervert, I cant ask for sex with my wife as I'll be labeled an abuser, I cant disagree with a woman or I'll be labeled manipulative. No matter how badly I'm treated in my relationships the minute I 'fight' back I'm labeled a domestic abuser.

Wow, you've shown your true colours here @Anchorage56

Yet somehow women manage to do all of the above and not harrass 🤔 Funny that

Because it all got a bit silly when I dared to ask what OP thought could be done about the violence against women and was instantly accused of being a man. Then it started getting even more silly when she started going on about men who earn more than women, men who watch porn, men who are lazy, and I just thought well sorry if your going down that route then I'm afraid there are plenty far worse women out there. It's just hatred for any human with a penis.

I would say it's more of an acknowledgment of the systemic disadvantage that women face and the culture of toxic masculinity. All of which are part of the problem.

Pointing out that there are bad women too is unnecessary and just sounds like you are minimising the issues being discussed.

@Anchorage56 So you rather defend the average man, who most likely wanks to porn at home, laughs at sexist jokes other men make and rates women by their looks.

Rather than defending the average woman whose bum gets randomly groped on public transport, who gets unsolicited dick pics sent or whose husband cheats on her and blames it on her because she let herself go after childbirth. Got it 👍

Why does the average man meed defending?

Why not dedend the average woman instead who suffers the abuse. Or do you always side with the one who has the upper hand?

It goes without saying that anyone who is the victim of a crime would need defending (and a whole lot more) but yes the average man needs defending against anyone (i.e YOU) who would label him as horrid for having done nothing except have a penis!

As you said yourself.

What point are you trying to make?

Defending and minimising killers and rapists by saying "but look how some women behave!" is an odd stance @Anchorage56

How do you even get up in the morning if these thoughts consume you? You should see a counselor or therapist.
Men are far more in need of therapy - they are the problem. Women have to get therapy to resolve these issues largely caused by men. I frequently hear men moaning they "can't afford therapy" which simply boils down to not prioritising it because they do not believe they are the problem. They can't accept on any level they might have the wrong ideas about things and refuse to pay to hear an alternative opinion that might mean they need to change and accept responsibility. Therapy is seen by men as an easy way to resolve issues but it is actually very very hard and requires a level of emotional intelligence that a growing amount of men simply don't seem to possess any more, or they wouldn't go around treating other people the way they do by killing, raping and using violence and coercive control. The idea that men get to spend their lives tearing down others, using and abusing them and the victims have to just get help then the men can carry on as normal is what is wrong and why this mysoginistic behaviour is increasing.

This morning I have watched a documentary about the 1999 nail bombings in London.

One about Jennifer San Marco and currently I'm watching, "the liquid bomb plot" so there are a few out there.

@Anchorage56

I'm a fairly average middle aged woman.

The first time I was sexually assaulted I was about 6, about 8 the second time, at about the same time as I was first beaten by a male.

How do you even get up in the morning if these thoughts consume you? You should see a counselor or therapist.

All women and girls over the age of about 9 or 10 feel this way. We get up in the morning because we have no choice but to run the gauntlet.

You claim 96% of men do not commit violent crimes but that doesn't take in to account the school buys giving girls a 'rating', teachers being inappropriate, the bus driver telling you to smile, the guy in the bar who pats your bum, the taxi driver asking if you live alone etc etc.

Even things that to a man are not creepy can be felt totally differently by a female.

Eg I picked up a new car, the salesman had put my address in the sat nav and labelled it 'home'.

He saw it as convenient, for me it was a red flag. If my car is stolen I don't want to thief to know where I live.

So do the right thing and fuck right off.

I'm sorry but no no no! You make being female sound like the most depressing thing. Its life for some women of course it is.

Well like I said no one disputes the fact that most violent or sexual crime is committed by men.

They why do you feel the need to talk about violent women in this context?

Why does the conversation always turn into how women react to male behavior rather than the male behavior itself?

Noticed this too and it's really depressing. More than a hint of almost victim blaming here in @Anchorage56 posts; Women "being sensitive" etc.

Is it not normal to be perterburbed by creepy behaviour from men?

Because it is not female behaviour that is the problem globally. It is male behaviour. And that's why we tak about it.

Yes and that's what the original post talked about and it then gets so diluted that every aspect of being a man gets brought up right down to oh he may watch porn or earn more than a woman. And I'm sorry but you cant put all men into this category that unless they live like a saint they may be on the spectrum of potentially being a rapist or murderer. That's what makes me inclined to remind people of female behaviour too.

No it's not all men, we know that. But it is men and it's not always easy to see which ones are the good ones.

Reminding us about female behaviour is just an attempt to minimise the issue of male violence against women and girls.

Yes it's not easy to tell who is good and who is bad.

Men kill other men more than they kill women.

Why are crime docs focusing on men killing women? Is this something people are more interested in than male on male violence so therefore higher audience figures?

More women than men consume true crime documentaries, so do the producers focus on men killing women as the target audience is more likely to empathise with a female victim than a male one?

Yes I'd say so

Anchorage56 · 17/03/2025 09:21

And there we go! I knew it. Classic enabler!

Its not Saintly to behave in a way that does not make anyone uncomfortable or afraid. Thats basic human manners.

If you dont expect the same from men, then you are a part of the problem.

Yet many of the live trials shown are about women killing men.
Always find that puzzling.

Because Dog Bites Man isn’t a news story while Man Bites Dog is.

They are newsworthy because they are vanishingly rare compared with men killing, well, everyone.
