My brother and his wife had a baby this morning and they have sent us no pictures. AM IBU to be a little sad/upset by this? My own 2 daughters have been waiting all day to see a picture of their new cousin but we've gotten nothing

You're being given reasons and explanations of what might be happening but you're not taking them on board or being open and flexible.

It's like you're trying to make it mean something more so you can be disappointed and left out, but it's just your brother being busy and distracted.

Who's looking after their other DC? Maybe he's tired, forgetful and thinks your mam has already sent you pics?

Just think "ah, typical DB, he's such a nob" and ask him again or ask your mam?

I'm actually slightly taken aback at the amount of posts saying I'm demanding. It says a lot about the state of the world today. I'm close with my family ( or thought I was), we live nearby and see each other numerous times during the week. My brother is my only sibling and I would have thought it was normal to share things like this. But obviously not. My husbands family are not as close as mine but he has always received pics of his new nieces or nephews. There are more of them in family but these things are always shared. Anyway based off here I should not expect anything from my family. I'll keep that in mind going forward. My very close friends have sent me pics of their kids not long after they were born but apparently I should not expect the same from my brother and I'm causing drama by asking. Wow wow wow!!

Fucking hell. The sheer demanding nature of this post. It’s staggering

Kinneddar · 15/03/2025 21:40

I'd actually have been gutted if my brother hadn't sent me photos when my nieces were born. I think its strange he hasn't when you specifically asked for one or told you to to get your mum to send one she got

Give him the benefit of the doubt today maybe he didn't realise the photo wasn't attached to the message he sent.

Regardless of that I totally get your disappointment and hope you get one soon

Perhaps they are on fb.

Why would they be on Facebook before they were sent to immediate family?

Tourmalines · 15/03/2025 21:16

No you are not bring unreasonable. He’s taken photos and sent some off already and you have asked him also . I think it’s weird . Hopefully you’ll get one soon .

0ohLarLar · 15/03/2025 21:12

Yeah this would be weird as fuck in my family. I couldn't wait to show both my gorgeous babies off. Even though one had an NG tube and quite a few wires so there was a pang that that was the first photo but i knew my family would be so delighted to see she was ok.

It is not about you.

Why do you want to make a drama of such a happy occasion?

They likely will share pictures in their own time and you will have the opportunity to meet the new baby.

I'm not making drama. I haven't said a word.

OP posts:
Twinkletwinklelil · 15/03/2025 21:06

I would just wait until they’re ready to share. It’s not up to you when the photos released nor should you feel entitled to see it so quickly. There may have been complications they didn’t expect and are dealing with that.

edited as I’ve read your responses, glad they’re ok. But you’ve got to let them send when they’re ready.
if you’re close with them you can ask but I wouldn’t be offended it’s their moment

mumda · 15/03/2025 21:06

There are a million reasons why they don't want to send a photo.

Some of them will be about you but most about them and their new baby.

I have had 2 kids so understand what it's like. All was normal today and everyone is fine. Thankfully. We are just disappointed we havent seen a photo, that's all. My own kids help out a lot with my nephew and have been excited about the arrival of their new cousin since they found out about it. No major expectations apart from that.

OP posts:
Teanbiscuits33 · 15/03/2025 21:04

Personally, I think you’re unreasonable to expect a photo by a certain time. They’re busy and they are enjoying their own new arrival. They will send a photo when they are ready and I’d think you were cheeky to ask if it were me. You don’t get to decide.

crumblingschools · 15/03/2025 21:03

I had complications after giving birth, took longer for that to be sorted than the birth took. Sending out photos was not our priority

MyLimeGuide · 15/03/2025 21:02

PrincessCalley · 15/03/2025 21:01

Of course I asked my brother to send us a pic!

Reckon he will send you one by tomorrow 😊

PrincessCalley · 15/03/2025 21:01

MyLimeGuide · 15/03/2025 21:00

Have you actually asked your brother to send you one though? As everyone else has said he is obviously busy atm and probably hoped 'MAM' would send them on to everyone.

Of course I asked my brother to send us a pic!

When my DS was born I hadn't slept for 48 hours, had a forceps delivery, a suspect 4th degree tear, spent two hours in surgery and hemorrhaged. It took me a little while to get round to updating everyone too. Don't take it personally
