My brother and his wife had a baby this morning and they have sent us no pictures. AM IBU to be a little sad/upset by this? My own 2 daughters have been waiting all day to see a picture of their new cousin but we've gotten nothing

In your details you do sound a bit like you hate him - or at least you’re keeping a log of every favour he asks. Maybe you’re not as close as you think

Love the notion that the STATE OF THE WORLD is summarised by your brother not sending a photo less than 12 hours after his child is born. This is embarrassing

100% this. ^

IveGotAnUnusuallyLargePelvisISwear · 15/03/2025 22:23

I’m sure you’ll see a photo soon. As you know yourself from having your own babies, the first few hours after the birth fly by: there’s checks on mum and baby, feeding, a shower (if you’re up to it) tea and toast and of course, the marvelling over every tiny detail of your new baby. That’s without sending messages and phone calls.

Fuck me OP, you're taking a lovely thing that's happened today and making it all about you and 'the terrible state of the world'. Maybe your brother hates you and this is the first you're hearing, maybe they're joined a religion that doesn't believe in photography and maybe - call me crazy - they just forgot to hit send because they've been a tiny bit busy what with having had a baby today. Wow wow wow.

👏

Jeez, heaven forbid someone who just gave birth doesn’t prioritise sending you a photo. Just ask for one if you’re so desperate or maybe wait 24 hours. They probably just forgot to send to you having just GIVEN BIRTH.

100% this! ^

A taker? 😆 WTF? 😂

Sounds like he has his priorities right. Looking after his wife and child on the day the child is born. Not pandering to the silly whims of his sister who is butthurt that he is not returning every tiny teeny 'favour' she does for him. 🙄

That was in response to the post about her brother getting her kids to help him out all the time, not the baby photo timeline issue.

I'm actually slightly taken aback at the amount of posts saying I'm demanding. It says a lot about the state of the world today. I'm close with my family ( or thought I was), we live nearby and see each other numerous times during the week. My brother is my only sibling and I would have thought it was normal to share things like this. But obviously not. My husbands family are not as close as mine but he has always received pics of his new nieces or nephews. There are more of them in family but these things are always shared. Anyway based off here I should not expect anything from my family. I'll keep that in mind going forward. My very close friends have sent me pics of their kids not long after they were born but apparently I should not expect the same from my brother and I'm causing drama by asking. Wow wow wow!!

All going well I'm sure she'll be home tomorrow or on Monday at the latest so we'll see her then. No biggie. But I guess I'm just feeling a bit down about it. I know her sisters will have gotten a photo as will her brothers. They are a close family too. Just saddened we didn't get the same. That's all. Thankfully all went well, baby is healthy and well, mother is healthy and well. And I'm sure well get cuddles and all tomorrow or Monday.

@PrincessCalley start matching his energy then, he can't expect lots of help from you and not treat you fairly.

Are you maybe feeling displaced because your brother clearly doesn't feel the same strength of a only sibling bond as you do?
Seems like he has different priorities.

Maybe.

I’ve never sent pictures of my babies to family. I rang them to tell them the baby was born. Then they came to see them.

Why would I send a photo and miss the moments when they meet and see each other for the first time? I’d think that was odd! Nobody has sent a picture to me as a birth announcement before, unless acquaintances and it’s a generalised sm post.

I wouldn’t be sending out any pictures!

You're being given reasons and explanations of what might be happening but you're not taking them on board or being open and flexible.

It's like you're trying to make it mean something more so you can be disappointed and left out, but it's just your brother being busy and distracted.

Who's looking after their other DC? Maybe he's tired, forgetful and thinks your mam has already sent you pics?

Just think "ah, typical DB, he's such a nob" and ask him again or ask your mam?

Oh i do totally think that. Believe me my brother would be the first one to ring looking for my daughters to help out with his older son if and when it suits him. We got a text this morning somewhat similar except it was to help my mam. And they did go and do it after they completed their Saturday activities. So I'm just a little hurt that he couldn't find 10 seconds to send us a pic. That's all. I know they are busy and have a lot going on but it takes literally 2 seconds to send a text.

We sent photos to our mums on the day they were born and just assumed they would share around. I’m not sure I even told anyone else, definitely didn’t put anything on Facebook for like a week. I just kinda assumed word and photos would spread.

That said, as someone who spends a lot of time in hospital, the hospital wifi is pretty dodgy. It’s entirely possible he sent a photo and it’s literally still loading, loading, loading to send. I’ve had plenty of messages I thought sent that didn’t when I checked back hours later. Maybe he thought he sent something and it hasn’t gone through and he’s just a bit overwhelmed and hasn’t noticed.

Dude, the baby was born TODAY. Cut them some slack.
