Would you judge a 26 year old (mum of 2) who casually sleeps with someone who is 18?

Yes, grim.

SophiaBrown · 10/03/2025 09:23

Absolutely

A school that has uniform for yr13 students? Is it private?

Most Scottish state schools expect students to wear uniform. Even in sixth year.

Is the age of consent now for those over 20?

A Teenager is just someone who has an age with the number ending in 'teen'. What does that mean in actual fact?

Is someone who is 20 suddenly very very different to someone who is 19?

He's an adult, 2 years over the age of consent, as long as she hasnt been his teacher or lecturer or something then its for them to decide.

Just because something is "legal" doesn't always make it right.

Casual sex, unfortunately, doesn't really exist. There is always the risk of pregnancy in heterosexual sex and the risk of STIs in all sex. If the woman gets pregnant and decides to carry the pregnancy through to term then the 18 year old boy and her and her existing children will be forced into a relationship forever. Is that something either of them want or are ready for. My children have been taught that sex produces babies. Yes it's fun and exciting and lovely, but ultimately if your having PIV sex then there is a risk of pregnancy. So before you do it think about whether you want to co-parent with this person for the rest of your life. It's not romantic and it's not exciting but it's true.

heroinechic · 10/03/2025 08:50

@Nevertrustacop most 18 year old lads are not so desperate for sex that they are grateful for the opportunity with a 26 year old mother of two

Have you met an 18 year old lad lately? They absolutely are desperate for sex and an older woman is top bragging rights amongst their friends 😂

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 10/03/2025 08:37

@BIossomtoes Would you still find it so lolz if your son was the eighteen year old involved? Then hypothetically switch genders, your eighteen year old daughter and a twenty six year old man. Still a side splitter then?

BIossomtoes · 09/03/2025 21:36

I bet he had a whale of a time and would disagree with all of you. 😂

Would you be having a laugh about an 18 year old girl having a whale of a time with 26 year old dad of two?

Gross

Why on earth is it gross that an 18 year old would enjoy having sex with a 26 year old?

Summerbay23 · 10/03/2025 07:56

Yes, I’d judge.

JMSA · 10/03/2025 07:48

You'd better believe that I'd judge!

SemperIdem · 10/03/2025 07:39

I’d judge insofar as I personally wouldn’t have slept with an 18 year old at 26.

I however, was in a relationship with someone 20 years older than me, at 19. So horses for courses.

I find all all the “their brain isn’t developed” rhetoric so ridiculously infantilising. We’re talking about young adults, not small children.

It sounds like a friends with benefits situation rather than a relationship, most likely they’ve either met through work (retail/hospitality) or down the pub. Odds on him meeting the children and becoming stepdad very slim.

bettydavieseyes · 10/03/2025 07:34

No. I had a 26 year old boyfriend when I was 19 and nobody thought that was odd. He had been married and divorced already.

1975wasthebest · 10/03/2025 07:30

Nope. And to some people living sheltered lives who posted earlier, it’s very possible that a 26 year old can move in the sane circles as an 18 year old. I’m 49 and have friends in my 20s - shock horror!

Bossyboo · 10/03/2025 07:30

Yes massively

SparklyGlitterballs · 10/03/2025 07:28

Yes I'd definitely judge. I'd also be very concerned if it was my son who was the 18 year old, in case he ended up as father to the woman's third child.

Ilovetowander · 10/03/2025 07:28

No, both adults and if it was the other way around I would not judge either.

If it was my child or relative I would only be concerned about the relationship if I was worried about the character/personality of either

Yes. Even if you haven't mentioned the sex of the 18 year old, which I think everyone is assuming to be male.
Same if roles were reversed, but somehow, women preying on younger men/women is more disgusting.

soupyspoon · 10/03/2025 07:20

BlondiePortz · 10/03/2025 04:05

If it was a 26yo male and and 18yo female it would be called creepy and a power imbalance because she would not know her own mind

Not by me it wouldnt

The 'brain not developed' thing is constantly misrepresented on here, it doesnt mean his brain is not fully developed.

Brains are more adaptable, elastic and flexible in the young, which is as it should be because its an evolutionary strategy for humans which allows for those who are the most physically capable (the young) to take more risk taking actions, more thinking outside the box, be more changeable, make faster decisions.
You wouldnt know it from this site.

Cathandkin · 09/03/2025 23:12

Yes, I wondered. Do you have uniforms right up until the 6th year in Scotland?

Same uniform as rest of the high school where I am in Scotland.

Or an 80 year old with someone, who’s 47, which is just yuk. But nice to know by that calculation I can date my dd’s mates some time in the distant future. 😱

I was with much older men at 16-19. Looking back it was grim. The age gap between these two is big. But the life experience is even bigger so it’s just too much.

I remember years and years ago watching a documentary about a woman dating her ds’s 16 yo mate. He had moved in. She had no issue with it at all. Even then, years before I had kids so I didn’t really understand the difference in dynamic between having children and not having children, it seemed so wrong. I have a natural desire to want to care for and protect my dd’s friends. I couldn’t see how that could translate into having sex with them.

Women tend to go for relationships rather than sex plus the fertility window, which I think it is why the other way round is less common. I mean what does she have in common with him?

Sex. That's what she has in common with him. They may not need to have anything else in common.

Can't judge a relationship on age when they're both adults. You can quietly pass judgement on a number of factors if you know the people involved but it's still usually none of your business.

This works really well doesn't it 👀. 60 ÷ 2 = 30 + 7 = 37. I'd have preferred to be shagging a 26 year old at 18, rather than shagging a 60 year old at 37. No offence to anyone, that's just my personal opinion.

No. If they had fun all good.

GretchenWienersHair · 10/03/2025 06:01

Yes.

ForPoliteHam · 10/03/2025 05:55

Yep. I'd be absolutely disgusted in her.
