Interested to read some opinions on this. Someone we know has found out that a teacher at their child's school is a swinger. This person is aghast about this and wants to report the teacher (not sure what for) and is refusing to let them teach their child. My attitude is that as long as it doesn't affect their work (whichbit clearly isnt) then what the teacher chooses to do in their private time is their business and their business only. ATBU?

Why would it be? There are other things people do that they look forward to. Would you have an issue with their mind being on a nice weekend away for their wedding anniversary? Or can teachers not do anything they enjoy out of school in case their mind isn't on the teaching?

At this point, I think you are just being silly for giggles.

I can't do anything about it, but I do not condone promiscuity (or drug taking) amongst professional people who educate and examine others, and while my taxes are paying Doctors, Teachers, Dentists, etc; etc; I will have my say, end of !

I would care more about the teaching being a great teacher.
All those who would object, I hope you were married to the father/mother of your child long before they were born. I also assume you were a virgin on your wedding night, otherwise check your own morals before commenting on the morals of others.

Having said that, a few months ago I did come across a news article where a teacher was indeed a swinger and had posted photos online too. Apparently a parent saw her on a swinging website and sent information to the school she worked at and she was struck off I’ve not read the whole thread so it could have previously been linked - if not, here is the article -

I suspect it was the working as an escort and posting pictures that was the issue, rather than the swinging itself.

Teachers have every weekend and bank holiday free, that's more than I get !.........yes, in retrospect maybe I should have trained as a Teacher, all those holidays are a carrot, though in my day there was still corporal punishment, liberally applied, a boy in my class being whacked hard with a worn-out plimsoll in front of everyone is a memory that has remained with me, I wouldn't have liked to have to do it personally.

I have worked 2 hours today and need to do approximately 3 hours tomorrow. Bank holidays are great for catching up with marking and planning.

You are dillusional if you think teachers are sitting around doing nothing all weekend!

Corporal punishment was always a choice so that's absurd.
