She was out with a friend, left the cinema, then followed and attacked, phone broken, stamped/kicked in the head. Friend was also attacked.

Onlookers say it was sickening

What is going on ?

We also have teenagers stabbing each other.

This is really scary. I’ve always felt completely safe in the centre of Lancaster. Didn’t the witnesses intervene?

There no way any male could of stepped in and got involved he’d leave himself open to all sorts of allegations

Awful. But I hate the "what is going on these days". It's always been like this. I got punched in the face aged 11 in the centre of a Cotswold village for doing fuck all apart from not being local in 1984 by a group of girls.

I think now with social media and smart phones and increased reporting we are exposed to more stuff we would never have previously seen.

It stopped because people don't want to pay the taxes required to have a police presence on the streets.

And when the police actually do their job, and deal with an incident like this one, people will post the footage all over social media accusing them of being racist (wouldn't have done it if they were white), sexist (that officer told that women to calm down), or bullies in uniform (those officers just punched that guy who was trying to stab them).

We either need much tougher laws, with sufficient prison/rehabilitation places to make those laws effective, or we need four times the number of police officers we currently have.

But again, nobody wants the pay the necessary taxes to fund all of that, so round and round we go.

But don't forget, no matter what happens, blame the police. Your MP's job depends on you doing this.

More police on the streets is far too late.

Treating the symptoms not the cause. The question is why do we have increasing numbers (it appears I have not seen the data) of feral children.

Ablondiebutagoody · 06/03/2025 08:46

Because there are no consequences. Even if they find the perpetrators, nothing will happen to them. They will keep doing similar things with increasing levels of violence until one/some of them stab and kill somebody.

Really?! The police are full of racists and misogynists. I've worked alongside the police for years and some of them are truly terrible. Look at the terrible behaviour of so many Met officers. There have been reviews into this and all have concluded various forces are institutionally racist. To say it's down to taxes is rubbish and belittles the bad experience of 1000s of people at the hands of the police.

Lancaster is really not the sort of town where this sort of thing happens regularly so it is really shocking to hear. I hope they find this nasty gang and make an absolute example of them.

Sadly this has always happened. Nasty bullies have always existed, things like this happened back when I was young it's nothing new

@Chiseltip so very, very true. Well said!

Those poor girls. It must've been terrifying. It would be hard for anyone to intervene, too, given the numbers involved. We need a police presence on the street. I can't understand why that stopped.

This sort of social issue with teens going on everywhere unfortunately. There was an incident in Bristol last week, something in Durham and a serious incident in Nottingham just for starters.
