AIBU to be utterly horrified that the US has cut off military aid to Ukraine?

I was hoping that it was mostly just bluster from Trump. But we've woken up to the news that he has actually done it. He's literally swapped sides in the war and is now standing with the aggressor, Russia, and abandoning the victim, Ukraine.

It might have escaped your notice but previously to being President he was a very successful HIGHLY paid TV personality and entertainer so it's certainly not beyond the realms of possibility that he might have 'expensive' holiday homes in countries other than the Ukraine? 🙄Maybe do a little research and apply some actual common sense before you start slinging mud around about a man with more responsibility, worry, doubt and heartache for his fellow countrymen atm that none of us would want to swap places with? FFS!! 😡

That's Russia.

Although the Russian invaders have also murdered journalists in Ukraine. IIRC, in addition to carpet bombing and flattening eg the theatre with children sheltering in the basement, the Russians had lists of people to target personally as they rolled in, and journalists were high on those lists.

I’m sorry I don’t blame trump for stopping funds to Ukraine and wish stamer would stop also, our country’s went to absolute shit the amount of people struggling to feed themselves and their kids aswell as heat and house themselves but yeah let’s throw BILLIONS of pounds at a fucking war we’re not even fighting. That money could be spent on wage rises, the nhs, better education in schools amongst other things but no most of you are happy were funding this. Also where’s all the news coverage it pisses me off that when this all kicked off it was thrown in our faces morning noon and night but now we hear nothing about it except Zelensky needs more money. Away tae fuck he wants to fight let him fight it without our country’s money our country has suffered enough without funding this nonsense

Hard to know what’s going on behind the scenes but simply taking Trump at face value isn’t inconsistent with what he’s done.

  1. He says he wants to end the war.
  2. He says he thinks continuing fighting is a waste of money and won’t achieve anything while risking nuclear escalation.
  3. He wants to pry Russia away from partnering with China.
  4. He wants to exploit Arctic oil and gas reserves and needs Russia’s agreement.
  5. He doesn’t much care about the means - just the ends.
Personally I don’t think what he’s done makes him a Russian asset and for 40 mins last Friday Trump was all about the minerals deal, which he sees as a smart way of dissuading Russian aggression without formally committing to a defense agreement which he knows is beyond Putin’s red line. He might be wrong to trust Putin and he might be turning the US into an Oligarchy, but I think the above is a better read on what’s going on than him being a Russian asset.

Trump is a complete fucking moron and should never have been elected. Calling Zelensky a dictator when in fact he is one and not to mention the bullshit he came out with in regards to gaza.
