I think that often, people who are in some sort of mental distress follow pre-existing cultural tropes in how they express that distress. People in one culture run around and rip their clothes. The Americans seem to shoot a gun into a crowd. And maybe in Germany it is this car thing.

These start for reasons of their own initially, but it becomes a kind of learned response to express some kind of inner problem.

Overall people seem more distressed now too. I don't think it's just stuff like CoL. But we've also lost a lot of the social supports that help people manage these things. I am not thinking of stuff like state welfare or even the medical system - though that's an issue too. But stuff like increasing isolation, neighbourhoods full of people you don't know, lack of charitable or religious or other civil organizations, or really, lack of people joining them.

I agree with your post.

Why is it acceptable to say it's a male problem but unacceptable to say it's an immigrant problem?

Because it was a German not an immigrant.

It's not discussed as a male problem, even though it clearly is, regardless of race. Though even if it were it'd be 'how can we help these poor sweet souls who feel compelled to violently attack others, as we could easily be in their shoes'?

You just doubled down with your sorry not sorry.

I wasn't saying sorry.

Do you blame every white person when a white person commits a heinous crime?

It hits the news because it fills the hateful narrative to poc.

Again the thoughts should be to the victims not hate filled, racist, angry mob mentality which breeds fear to innocent people.

Jeeekers · 03/03/2025 18:30

We all have the problem with these “attacks” happening.
wish there was a cure for violent crazy fluckers who can’t think logically. Being a crazy murdering psycho only makes things worse for your “cause” / community.

kattaduck · 03/03/2025 18:29

Well you do you. I am waiting for the facts to come out and in the meantime give my thoughts to victim but everyone has different priorities.

Dude is hasn't even been 7 hours and you are already starting with the politics.

Starting with the politics? I'm expressing my opinion which is in fact shared (and feared) my many others. The rise of the far right is happening, in seven European countries to be precise.

kattaduck · 03/03/2025 18:22

DBSFstupid · 03/03/2025 18:16

And why doesnt it get discussed much I wonder?
Why are these incidents consistently ignored/brushed over in the MSM?

(scratches head in puzzlement)

How is it brushed under the carpet?
It is widely discussed in every Media outlet, same after Munich.

kattaduck · 03/03/2025 18:20

ginasevern · 03/03/2025 17:59

If it isn't an immigrant it will be highly unusual. The attacks in Germany and France will, not surprisingly, strengten the rise of the far right.

It's not discussed much. Doesn't get the headlines., yet there are more and more of these incidents occurring

I saw it's a German man in his 40s. History of mental health issues and not an immigrant.

exactly this

People? Are we going to pretend that this isn't by and large a male thing?

It's not German males though is it? It's an immigrant problem.
I know it makes people uncomfortable, and there's a kneejerk tendency to just go "oh, racist", but denying what everyone can see is incredibly unhelpeful.

according to the Guardian a German citizen has been identified as the perpetrator, so on this occasion, bit too hasty.

meisafairy · 03/03/2025 18:02

ArtTheClown · 03/03/2025 17:47

If he's not an immigrant I stand corrected, however it would be the first of a long string of incidents where that has not been the case, to the point I didn't actually hesitate jumping to that conclusion.

You just doubled down with your sorry not sorry.
It is not always immigrants, but they are the cases you will hear about as it fits a narrative.
Anyway thoughts to all injured.

According to BBC news they are saying a 40 year old German man has been arrested and they do not think anyone else is involved in the incident.
May those poor souls who lost their lives rest in peace

I don't believe they gave stated who it was yet

Well it's a male violence thing, we don't know if this man was an immigrant or not, but even if he is, just because German men kill in a different way, doesn't make it any better.
Having said that though, I do agree that we need to be brave enough to name problems, and if these attacks are always carried out by immigrant men, then we need to be able to acknowledge that.

ArtTheClown · 03/03/2025 17:37

And maybe in Germany it is this car thing.

It's that or knives. They seem to vary it. The murdered toddler and man in Aschaffenburg was a knife, that one was an Afghani. Currently further plane loads of tens of thousands are arriving in Germany.

Lot’s of people jumping to conclusions and assuming this is terrorist related. Wait for the evidence.

Are they? Where? Not on here.
