AIBU to feel it’s inappropriate to have “Dynamite”, who is a skimpily-dressed gladiator on a kids’ show?

She appears on segments of the new series, IMO flirting with the handsome twin Black doctors, Raph and Dan, calling them “boys”. It just seemed sexualised to me.

I’ve attached a picture of her, this is how she dresses on the show.

I wondered that too @BitOutOfPractice 160kg, according to the bbc website. Insanely fit, good for her

Themagicclaw · 03/03/2025 15:33

She's an athlete. My 6yr old loves her, wants to be "strong and fast" like her and is happy to try out loads of sports. I'm perfectly happy that she's a role model for my wee girl

Pigcasso · 03/03/2025 15:30

if you are going to object to anyone's clothing, it should be this woman I saw on an ad on daytime TV, totally inappropriate with babs out for all to see, just nipples barely covered

the only thing I think about her body when I look at her is “I wonder how much she can deadlift”. She looks so strong and fit, I hope she appreciates how wonderful it feels to be young and fit. Can you tell I’ve just dragged my wobbly yet puny 57 yo body home from the gym?

do I see that as sexualised? Not in the tiny slightest.

Whoarethoseguys · 03/03/2025 15:29

She is not dressed any differently from women field Olympians. I don't see the issue. What do you expect athletes to wear?

OhCalmTheFuckDownMargaret · 03/03/2025 15:27

I just clutched my pearls so hard they broke. Now they are all over the place !

user1471538275 · 03/03/2025 15:25

Do you have objections to seeing human skin?

You are entitled to dislike certain clothes, but it is vital you understand that others have the right to wear what they like and you have no right to criticise them openly.

She is not half naked. She is appropriately dressed for the job she does.

There are many clothes I don't like and think look awful/ I have negative thoughts about why they are being worn - I zip my lips however because I recognise individual's rights to wear what they want.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 03/03/2025 15:22

Woman wears clothes on kids TV

What an absolute shocker!

SapphOhNo · 03/03/2025 15:22

Grow up OP

Are you the same poster who complained about women wearing gymwear to the gym in another thread recently?

I was trying to think of OP's previous thread and I think that's it.

MyUmberSeal · 03/03/2025 15:20

There is nothing sexual about that image. Nothing.

SeaSwim5 · 03/03/2025 15:19

Never watched this show but my DC we’re watching kids TV in the 2000s/2010s and I have to think what your view would be of the shows available then if you find this too sexualised!

Suite Life of Sack and Cody, Wizards of Waverly plate etc all contained overt flirtatious and borderline sexual references and no one died.

Beekeepingmum · 03/03/2025 15:18

This can't be serious....

biscuitsandbooks · 03/03/2025 15:15

What do you want her to wear instead? A shroud, maybe? 🙄

That’s not what half naked is OP.

toomuchfaff · 03/03/2025 15:12

Would you be up in arms of it were Usain Bolt (or another male athlete) in his athletics attire?

Or is it just that it's a woman athlete?

I think we all know the answer to this....

ItGhoul · 03/03/2025 15:13

IMO flirting with the handsome twin Black doctors, Raph and Dan

Someone sounds jealous.

Pigeonqueen · 03/03/2025 15:10

You’re being daft!

As others have said it’s the “uniform” from the family show Gladiators! Seen worse things on the beach!

snotathing · 03/03/2025 15:10

I don't see that as skimpy or inappropriate clothing.

Picklepower · 03/03/2025 15:04

She's a gladiator!! Have you never watched athletics? She's an athlete

All of the Gladiators dress in lycra. Wearing the costume is promoting the show and also helps give little kids the context they need to recognise her. I don't think Dynamite is doing anything wrong or sexual. Saying "boys" to the doctors - sorry, to the handsome Black doctors - would probably be scripted rather than flirting.

I think the Gladiators are great role models for kids - would far rather have my kids watch Dynamite than some of the awful YouTubers out there!

TooBigForMyBoots · 03/03/2025 15:02

You never seen Gladiators @FancyMauveDreamer?

Dishwater123 · 03/03/2025 15:02

Another voice saying YABU, she just looks like an athlete. Lot's of children like the show Gladiators.

Also not sure of the relevance of the ethnicity of the Dr's given you went on to identify them by name anyway.
