AIBU to feel it’s inappropriate to have “Dynamite”, who is a skimpily-dressed gladiator on a kids’ show?

She appears on segments of the new series, IMO flirting with the handsome twin Black doctors, Raph and Dan, calling them “boys”. It just seemed sexualised to me.

I’ve attached a picture of her, this is how she dresses on the show.

Can you tell me what vital and relevant information would have been lost had you posted exactly that with the omission of the word ‘black’?

Zombie

Not appropriate for children’s tv. I wish female athletes weren’t pressured to dress like this, I have always been annoyed at how male sports costumes are more dignified

You obviously haven't seen her Instagram. She wears the tiniest bikinis you've ever seen. She probably feels overdressed in this outfit 😄

YehaaYessir · 30/08/2025 16:14

Her outfit is fine, not too revealing. You've got a point about the flirting though, she seems to fancy a bit of the docs.

Whoonearthareyou · 04/03/2025 09:38

The outfits are clearly meant to be a little bit glamourous and sexy, both for the male and female gladiators, but they're not explicit or inappropriate. I think there are far more things to worry about at the BBC than this.

fartfacenotfatface · 04/03/2025 08:57

That's not half-naked. I was expecting to hear of someone with their arse / foof / tits on display.
She's an athletic woman wearing wholly appropriate attire for her role.

PorkHollywood · 04/03/2025 07:58

Hahaha 🤣

I hate the sexualisation of female athletes, but if you look at the photo upthread the male gladiators are wearing equivalent tight outfits with loads of chest and leg on display. So actually gladiators isn't that bad.

I am becoming increasingly prudish as I get older. There's every chance I'm turning into my mother. But I think having a strong, fit and dedicated athlete on shows like this is absolutely fantastic. In fact, I have more of an issue with the objectification of the doctors on this thread. People doing their jobs deserve professional respect, whether they're doctors or athletes.

CalmTheFuckDownMargaret · 03/03/2025 23:06

This really is prudish to a silly level. There’s no boob, camel toe or arse on show. It’s properly made sports-wear. If anything, it’s good and inspirational for a strong body like hers to be on tv!

NewMarmiteJar · 03/03/2025 22:35

I think it's your problem if you think she is sexualised. Ridiculous.

Do you have a child or do you just watch for the doctors?
I wouldn’t worry, me and my friends were 7 when we watched Grease and all the sexual references went straight over our heads. You aren’t watching it with the innocence of a child.

The difference is there are no sexual references here. The fact OP is sexualising this young athletes is extremely misogynistic.

Lambington · 03/03/2025 21:52

You keep referring to the male doctors on this kids show as "sexy". That sounds a lot less appropriate than showing a professional athlete in her work clothes.

TheWickerHare · 03/03/2025 21:50

Will your children be allowed to watch the Olympics?

TheWickerHare · 03/03/2025 21:49

With all due respect, get in the bin.

CrazyOldMe · 03/03/2025 21:46

Why do you mention the skin colour of the doctors?!? Confused

SlaveToAGoldenRetriever · 03/03/2025 21:46

You must live an awfully sheltered life OP. Quite depressing really if you really think that there’s anything sexual about a photo of a fully clothed athlete. YABVU.

I miss the days of DD watching Operation Ouch. Dr Chris & Dr Xand are both rather easy on the eye! 😜

TheseCalmSeas · 03/03/2025 21:43

She looks amazing. Strong and determined.

It’s sad you have tried to sexualise her and even looped off her head!

Gotthemoozles · 03/03/2025 21:27

I am a massive prude and not ashamed to admit it, and I see absolutely nothing sexual about that image.
