My neighbour has been annoying me for months and months

I couldn’t take it any more today and snapped at her to just fuck off and leave us alone.

She moved in just over 2 years ago and was overly friendly from the start but I thought it was just her trying to be nice. About a year ago she seemed to be there every time either of us left the house.
She started asking could she add a few bits to our weekly grocery delivery and then didn’t pay us back so after 3 weeks I said sorry we won’t be doing that any more.
If dh goes in the garden she’s there asking for help with something, in spring and summer she wants him to cut her grass for her and when he said sorry he’s busy and doing ours then we have plans she text me to say I’m controlling not allowing him to help her ??

Knocking all the time asking to ‘borrow’ Dh for lifting something / fixing something / etc etc

Wanting to park on our drive often and when I say no she does it anyway ??

EVERY bloody weekday morning she’s there waiting by the car wanting a lift to school and sometimes dh drops me to work on the way and then there isn’t enough room for her and her dc and she will say that I should make my own way then storms off !

There’s more as well I can’t list it all but she’s suffocating and relentless and so so needy.

Today she has been texting asking can dh drop her to the out of hours as she hasn’t felt well. I said no we are busy she should get a taxi. She then came round to ask dh herself and when i said he was busy she said ‘you don’t own him !!’

I’ve told her to never contact us again that we find her exhausting and are considering moving . She told me she wouldn’t be so persistent if we were ‘better natured’ and ‘helped without pressure’ 😂😂 which was when I told her to FO and shut the door.

She text afterwards to tell me I’m very selfish and I don’t have a ‘village mindset’ !!

No one has EVER taken the piss out of me like that, I wish they would, I'd have sooo much fun with them😈

MrsSchrute · 01/03/2025 18:46

Why do you think she is like that op? Genuine question. Lonely? Unwell? ND?

Obviously she is BU, and you did the right thing, I just wonder why people behave like this.

@Neighbourissuedaily if she has a car, why does she want a lift to school?? why does she want to park on your drive?? I, personally, would currently spending time in prison if I was you. you have the patience of a saint to only be blocking her number now. how did she even get your number? I couldnt tell you any of my neighbours numbers!

Because dh was ‘going there anyway’ and she wanted to save her petrol !

Well I’d block her. Or call her bluff. Say you can help her move something or can drop her somewhere. If she asks why he can’t do it, just say he doesn’t want to as she makes him feel uncomfortable and feels she’s being sexist. Bet she’d stop asking soon enough!

GauntJudy · 01/03/2025 18:39

Well done telling her to fuck off. Block her number and keep ignoring her. Cheeky entitled cow!

When I was young my neighbour was a woman in her 60s who'd wait outside for me coming home from work then yak on for an hour before I could get in the door. She'd often phone and the same would happen. I'd cut my grass and she'd be straight out wanting to talk. Drove me insane, I felt I was losing entire evenings to her mindless chit-chat. She was clearly lonely and I was a soft touch back then - its taught me to not engage with neighbours beyond a polite smile and wave every now and then!

So I applaud your assertiveness

LateLessAbleToBeBothered · 01/03/2025 18:38

One of the few times I would say block her, just don’t take her calls or texts.

Dillydollydingdong · 01/03/2025 18:36

She's not quite right in the head. Tell her you want nothing to do with her. EVER!

outerspacepotato · 01/03/2025 18:36

You and your husband both need to block her on your phones.

Just say No to any of her requests and give her the dead stare. Start ignoring her more.

Mymanyellow · 01/03/2025 18:35

I can’t get over a sausage roll and six fried eggs.

Liverpool52 · 01/03/2025 18:34

I'd message back with "and what have you done for the village".

LongDarkTeatime · 01/03/2025 18:32

Do you know any of your other neighbours? Does she try this with them too?

Crazybaby123 · 01/03/2025 18:31

Only someone with some sort of mental issues would behave in this way. Would be wary. At least you have rmanaged to finally tell her whats what. Do any other neighbours have the same issues. I absolutely can not stand thosr people who are overly friendly, I really hate it as they usually want something from you. Keep well away from her as she will be trouble.

Poppymeldrum · 01/03/2025 18:31

This reminds me of a colleague at work

We became mates (going for a coffee type mates) and she wanted to re-paint her house but claimed to be skint (always has enough to buy weed/crap/buy new clothes from primark)

Anyway,we'd just finished decorating our house and I said she could have all our leftover paint-as long as she didn't mind blues, greys and greens-all decent brands

All good,I got dp to run the paint round and had put in a roller and a few other bits for her

A few weeks later,I got a text asking when I was planning on going round to paint her whole house!

I laughed-no way!she expected me to go round, clear hoarders level of crap, take it all to the tip, slap the paint on the walls, gloss all the woodwork and do all this over the one weekend I had off work! (with her untrained dog up my arse and by myself as she doesn't trust dp in her house)

She bitched about me to work-apparently I was being unreasonable

As far as I know, the paint is still in the tins

Yanbu. Does she ever ask for your help? Sounds like she fancies your dh (if he's anything like mine he's probably terrified 😂)

I can just imagine this CF creepy woman curtain twitching while op's dh cuts her lawn, 😂👀

GoodGollyMissDolly · 01/03/2025 18:28

It’s a miracle you haven’t killed her!!!

Redfred00 · 01/03/2025 18:23

She see you ad the barrier to her getting what she wants/ needs. I wonder if her damsel in distress act works in your husband. If he is more accommodating when you aren't around. The only way to nip this in the bud is with a united front. You need to agree no lifts EVER, no lending, no lifting, no carrying, no mowing, no car trouble help. NOTHING! If she can't do it herself then she needs to pay someone else to do it.

Mrsbloggz · 01/03/2025 18:22

She was testing the water & your response gave her the green light, I'd have said a flat 'no'.
Or maybe money up front and £10 for my trouble (also up front) or no dice😈

UnintentionalArcher · 01/03/2025 18:22

This sounds outrageous. Genuine question - could her behaviour qualify as harassment? Especially as she’s been nasty to you. I’d be tempted to look into reporting this if it didn’t stop.

Breadcat24 · 01/03/2025 18:18

I had a neighbour I barely knew come round and say they needed to borrow my car. I offered to drive them somewhere if they needed a lift. They said no that would not work because they were going to a wedding and wanted to pretend the car was theirs!
I was so gobsmacked I just muttered something about insurance and shut the door.

Bucksman · 01/03/2025 18:15

Sounds very wrong to me. I do hope your situation improves.

HollyBerryz · 01/03/2025 18:13

BMW6 · 01/03/2025 18:11

Well I'm old and have never heard of such blatant piss taking in all my many years!

When she was stood by your car expecting a lift the 1st time didn't you say WTF right then??

I feel sorry for her child having such an awful person as a parent. Either the child Will emulate his mum or Will cringe with embarrassment!

Apennyforapound · 01/03/2025 18:09

Neighbourissuedaily · 01/03/2025 17:59

No I haven’t seen that sounds similar though 😂 he said she really seemed to be asking was he a vegan as if it was the worst thing you could possibly be !

Haha, the lunch scene is definitely worth a watch than. They're different ages, but she has a creepy obsession with the "head-master."

Rainingalldayonmyhead · 01/03/2025 18:09

What a weirdo. No I agree with you except telling her to F off. That wasn’t necessary. I get the sentiment and reason why but it just isn’t ever appropriate.

Interesting to see if she backs off now….
