To make myself some brekkie

Did park run this morning then straight to do a food shop then home. Absolutely starving. Dd was baking some cookies for dh as a surprise so we told him to stay out of the kitchen for a bit. Made myself some brekkie, called through to dh to see if he wanted anything. Hit the roof cos l had already made my own. Told me l am rude. Said l am hungry after running and he said ffs it's all about you.

Hmm it really isn't!!

So made himself and sandwich and not spoken since!

Is he the dick or am l?!

Am off out tonight so don't give a flying one if he wants to ignore me!!

Could he actually go into the kitchen at this point?
I think it's a communication issue. What did he want for breakfast? What did you have?
I still think it's all a bit odd and I don't understand the timings either of him not being able to access the kitchen. Why did he not eat before DD was baking? It sounds like she started when you came home, or why didn't you let him grab something before she started when you got in? Surely a quick, I am having this for breakfast, him saying he didn't want that, so a reply of come get what you want then before DD is in the way in here would sort this.

Exactly - why didn't he eat before she was baking? He had had all morning!

10 mins we asked him to stay away and he had been home all morning beforehand

He’s being a demanding baby, he could have eaten breakfast while you were running or any point upto or after the 10 minutes. Tell him to get a grip

You didn't do anything wrong.

Thank you.
He's had a hard week at work so think he took it out on me but l'm not having that.
And my night out was planned ages ago so it wasn't a kneejerk right l'm going out situation.

Is the point he 'wasn't allowed in the kitchen' so couldn't make himself anything?
And would also depend on what op was offering....
A protein shake/spinach smoothie/ fried mackerel... no thanks! Basic toast would be preferred!

I'd never have considered stuffing my own face without asking if someone I was living with /married to/ or even if they were a friend round for a coffee if they wanted something If I was making it.

It's really bad manners to not offer.

I think I have a chip on my shoulder bc when my kids were little and I was running around like a maniac my pos husband would go to the deli and get himself a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich on a roll and eat it in his car. He didn’t think anything was wrong with that. It was big deal, he’s getting himself a big breakfast and not asking his family if we wanted any and we saw him eating it in the car. The big fat pig. I actually hates his guts now and so do my kids. What a se,fish piece of garbage. I’m sorry. I’m definitely acting biased and that’s not your fault. Oh, and we saw him eating. He’s a pig and will always be a pig. I’m sure you had oat nuts and that doesn’t count.

I forgot to say I’m sorry.

Well I made myself a bacon sandwich this morning and it never occurred to me to offer husband one ! What a pathetic reason to throw a strop YANBU.

That's pretty strange though surely. Nobody in my household would make themselves a bacon sandwich without offering one to everyone else.

I wouldn’t blame someone else for being hungry

Devianinc · 02/03/2025 01:51

Mayamemsaab1 · 02/03/2025 01:48

Not something worth hitting the roof over, not that big a deal. He’s not going to waste away and had all morning to make himself breakfast while she was out anyway

As long as it wasn’t you that was hungry

Mayamemsaab1 · 02/03/2025 01:48

Devianinc · 02/03/2025 01:17

Ok, so if you hungry and couldn’t go in the kitchen for whatever reason and then your wife comes in the said kitchen and makes herself breakfast without asking him and knows he can’t go in the kitchen but ask as a after thought. It sounds like already have problems anyway bc she’s out for the night and doesn’t care. I’ve been there too. But if you did care you would have asked

Seems like a petty reason to be hitting the roof over! I’m quite agreeable and easy to get along with though so not sure what most other people would think

but why is he making a fuss
she offered?
if he was that bothered he could have asked her

After she ate

Devianinc · 02/03/2025 01:05

And when I make bacon I make the whole package so family can munch when they like

I find this strange ~ if I was making a bacon sandwich I would offer anyone else in the house one ?

Do you act like he doesn’t exist.. I’m going to compare this with me going to get takeout and I got myself a filet mignon with a mushroom wine sauce and truffled fries with creamed spinach only for myself even though I knew you were home. I just didn’t think of you and and I’m eating this all by myself. I don’t get that. Your a family.

Everyone wants bacon

Devianinc · 02/03/2025 00:56

ilovesushi · 01/03/2025 17:18

It would never cross my mind to break breakfast for anyone else. We all get up and leave the house at slightly different times and everyone fends for themselves. Whoever makes the coffee, leaves enough for the others. My only exception is if I am making pancakes, I'll make them for whomever wants them.

Couldn't bear to be in a situation where people are getting arsey with me for not putting their cereal in a bowl.

I understand what you’re saying but I don’t think applies here. It sounds like a typical weekend thing. Getting out for work doesn’t count. Then it’s everybody on their own

You made a bacon sandwich and didn’t offer any one some. I’d have a mutiny. I wouldn’t dream of just making myself a bacon sandwich. Everyone loves bacon sandwiches.

Devianinc · 02/03/2025 00:44

You must have been starving
