Would you judge this in someone’s house?

I’m currently re-decorating parts of my house. I’ve come across a website that sells prints for the walls and I’ve found some I really like;

This house is full of love, laughter, and a little bit of what the fuck.

Pardon the mess, I decided not to give a shit today.

If you’re happy and you know it, it’s your meds!

As you can probably tell, our house is already a little bit eccentric with its decor… but would you judge someone for having prints like that on the wall with children living in the house or am I just overthinking it? 😅

I would judge, sorry. Especially the swear words on the wall with children in the house. And I don't think those quotes give off an eccentric vibe anyway - more "I'm mad, me!". They're no different from "live laugh love" or "you don't have to be crazy to work here, but it helps!".

BeaAndBen · 28/02/2025 11:20

You’d look a bit of a dick, I think. Very “I’m mad, me!” vibes.

It’s your house and if that’s what you like, fair enough. If you’re worried about visitors judging you, I’d stick to a comedy mug if I were you.

I would think it is very chavvy and really meh. But i dont have to live there it s your house.
but yeah i would judge you

Op
If they're judgy it's best they don't come around again ,
Your house , your choices :)

MxFlibble · 28/02/2025 11:19

TBH, I'd file it with the live/laugh/love stuff, and assume you'd been given it as a gift by a much loved relative, a bit like some of the stuff I have on display that the kids have made or friends have given me, which aren't to my taste, but I treasure the memory more than the item.

So I'd judge you to be kind-hearted.

Personally I'm also a bit of a prude, and wouldn't put sweary things up in the house, especially with kids in it.

LadyTable · 28/02/2025 11:18

Far too try hard.

Far too 'I'm so funny and crazy, me".

But most of all, embarrassing for your kids if you have any.

mybelovedghostandme · 28/02/2025 11:18

@Talipesmum the Film Idea one has cracked me
Up 😂😂

Darkclothes · 28/02/2025 11:18

They were tacky and naff when you'd start seeing similar 20yrs ago! When we were recently looking to move house and I saw the standard ones without swearing, I do wonder what would posses someone to buy something like that?

If you really want such tat, have a look in charity shops where they will be very cheap!

Limer · 28/02/2025 11:18

I'd judge. Massively.

OldChairMan · 28/02/2025 11:16

Not remotely eccentric, just naff and a bit sad around children.

hydriotaphia · 28/02/2025 11:16

There are two issues. One, the tackiness. I do find that sort of thing tacky, but it's your house so I wouldn't judge as such for that. Two, the swearing around kids. Yes I think this is inappropriate, and would judge.

AgnesX · 28/02/2025 11:16

God yes. Along with laugh, love etc. That stuff makes my teeth itch. On the other hand I wouldn't let it put me off offering if the house was right.

Sorry, re-read, thought you were decorating to sell.

Whatisthisbs · 28/02/2025 11:16

Ouch! I have the top one !

Idontjetwashthefucker · 28/02/2025 11:15

Not eccentric in the slightest, just tacky, unfunny and lacking in taste. Certainly not appropriate around kids either

Redburnett · 28/02/2025 11:15

Sayings like those are amusing for about 30 seconds maximum.....

pearbottomjeans · 28/02/2025 11:15

They’re all of the ‘I’m mad, me!’ / ‘You don’t have to be mad to work here, but it helps!’ ilk IMO. If judging = perceiving then yes I’d perceive you as a bit naff basically.

SharpLeader · 28/02/2025 11:14

I personally wouldn't comment, unless your personally known to me.
I personally don't like finger marks, any marks actually on walls drives me insane 😱lol.
My child has marks on one wall and I'm constantly cleaning it off 🙄😘

Talipesmum · 28/02/2025 11:14

If you like that sort of thing, I saw these in a cafe place in King’s Cross, thought they were fun and along similar lines but perhaps a bit less naff. I may have been influenced by the fun lettering and expensive cafe surroundings though! I just google imaged and they’re by Babek Ganjei.

TheMorels · 28/02/2025 11:13

Yes, I’d judge them to be twats.

OriginalUsername2 · 28/02/2025 11:13

I’d judge. Honest opinion? It comes across as trying too hard to be quirky.

I’m sorry!

Completelyjo · 28/02/2025 11:12

I would roll my eyes to be honest, it’s pretty cringe and reminds me of the early internet memes 20 years ago. But it’s not my house.

Verite1 · 28/02/2025 11:10

Awful and tacky and totally inappropriate round young kids.

XWKD · 28/02/2025 11:09

They wouldn't be for me, but if that's what you like...

MrsSkylerWhite · 28/02/2025 11:09

Trying too hard to be “edgy”. Pictorial equivalent of dad dancing.

Acc0untant · 28/02/2025 11:09

I just think they sound tacky and not at all funny which is what I suppose they're going for.
