Would you judge this in someone’s house?

I’m currently re-decorating parts of my house. I’ve come across a website that sells prints for the walls and I’ve found some I really like;

This house is full of love, laughter, and a little bit of what the fuck.

Pardon the mess, I decided not to give a shit today.

If you’re happy and you know it, it’s your meds!

As you can probably tell, our house is already a little bit eccentric with its decor… but would you judge someone for having prints like that on the wall with children living in the house or am I just overthinking it? 😅

Yes I would judge. It's incredibly tacky and not appropriate with children either.

Also, eccentric is not a word to describe decor like this!

Fundays12 · 28/02/2025 11:35

I would think it's tacky and chavy.

Coldwatergloves · 28/02/2025 11:34

I don't care about the swearing, but I think as a general vibe those kind of signs are very cringe.

TheodoraCrumpet · 28/02/2025 11:34

Why are you even asking? If you like them, have them. If you have doubts, and maybe you do, then don't have them.
Personally, I'd say they're not to my taste. However I'm more inclined to be judgy about people who keep a minimalist household. Where's your stuff? How do you cope with all the bland? It looks so sterile. It would do my head in. I'd rather see a bit of naffness than actually naff all.

LongDarkTeatime · 28/02/2025 11:33

I would think that if you have to comment on the situation you are highlighting it for a reason and aren’t really comfortable with it. Or that you’re judging others who live differently .
If you are comfortable with a situation you usually don’t feel the need to draw explicit attention to it.

AllyCart · 28/02/2025 11:32

"Live, Laugh, Love" is cringeworthy enough but those you've posted are taking it to a whole new level of awful, OP.

I'd judge the fuck out of you if I visited your home and you had those.

arcticpandas · 28/02/2025 11:32

I would be very embarrassed for you if you're older than 16...

AgathaX · 28/02/2025 11:31

Don't do it. Naff and boring.

Iwishiwasapolarbear · 28/02/2025 11:29

I would think it’s a bit cringe and trying to be funny

NormasArse · 28/02/2025 11:28

SharpLeader · 28/02/2025 11:14

I personally wouldn't comment, unless your personally known to me.
I personally don't like finger marks, any marks actually on walls drives me insane 😱lol.
My child has marks on one wall and I'm constantly cleaning it off 🙄😘

I can’t decide whether you’re trying to be funny, or you didn’t read the OP.

Crazycatlady79 · 28/02/2025 11:27

I would judge someone for having neither class nor taste if I saw these in their home.

As you can probably tell, our house is already a little bit eccentric with its decor...

I cannot attest to the eccentricity - or lack thereof - within your home's decor, but there is a cloying air of try-hard (in this instance, trying too hard to be cool and irreverent).

Duckswaddle · 28/02/2025 11:27

That’s not eccentric, it’s tacky and shit.

Adviceneededpleasehelpme · 28/02/2025 11:26

Erm sorry, yes I would judge.. I'm actually doing it right now and wondering if you have a crushed velvet sofa?

Annettecurtaintwitcher · 28/02/2025 11:26

Wouldn’t bother me re: kids but think slogans on walls are cringy and naff not quirky and original.

If you’re happy and you know it, it’s your meds!

Sorry but in all honesty I really despise this. It trivialises mental illness / ND. I'd feel like you were the sort of person who calls anti-depressants "fun pills" or something equally annoying, and might have a problem with me taking mood-stabilisers or think it was a Top Bantz thing to rip the piss out of me for. Also I think it's not sending a great message to your kids. What if they need "meds" in the future?

It all seems very "you don't have to be mad to work here but it helps 🤪" vibes and incredibly cringe

Yes, that one about the meds is really crass.

27Maisie27 · 28/02/2025 11:25

There's nothing eccentric about sticking shop bought posters on your wall, it's trying too hard to be zany and quirky, and missing by a mile. I also think swearwords have no place in a home with children. I would suggest visiting your nearest recycling/charity shop and getting some genuine art. I've bought some beautiful oil paintings, cross stitch art and water colours, all original, all extremely cheap, and nothing to make any visitor cringe with second hand embarrassment.

CharityShopMensGlasses · 28/02/2025 11:25

Yeah no sorry, they are not it.
They do make me laugh when I see them pop up on Pinterest.
They feel kind of there for the gram if you know What I mean.
Id find funny captioned photos of you as a family less cringe.

House rules/ live laugh love are worse though

Echobelly · 28/02/2025 11:25

I'd find it quite funny and I wouldn't judge but anything with swearing I might keep to a bedroom or study rather than more shared space with young kids around.

MiraculousLadybug · 28/02/2025 11:25

Yes I'd judge, it's too "we're so crazy, sometimes we FORGET to turn the DISHWASHER ON at night!!!!! OMG whatamilike???"

It's like those people who think someone's bipolar because they had sugar in their tea yesterday but not today.

Also the swearing on the wall... just why? Your kids have to live there too, and when you come to sell the house it's going to be an embarrassment.

Apspokeq · 28/02/2025 11:25

Also I don't think it's nice having the sweary ones on the walls; again it's very try-hard, "how do you do, fellow kids" stuff.

Motomum23 · 28/02/2025 11:24

I would possibly put them in an adults only room (like the imaginary sewing room in my imaginary mansion) but not on my walls - kids take in so much is that really the message you want to give them - they can only be happy with meds. You don't give a shit... I mean it's fine to not give a shot about mess but do you want that message ingrained in their psyche.??

Apspokeq · 28/02/2025 11:23

DappledThings · 28/02/2025 11:22

Eccentric isn't the vibe those give off at all. Just tacky and cringy.

Togglebullets · 28/02/2025 11:22

I wouldn't judge but I think they're a bit cringe really. I'd probably assume we have very different senses of humour.

I actually like the shipwreck one mentioned up thread though

ServantsGonnaServe · 28/02/2025 11:22

Tastewise, I think they're basic and embarrassing and attention seeking (because the messaging is "I'm so quirky and chaotic but it's OK because I'm happy and fun!"

but I wouldn't judge in the sense of thinking it's inappropriate for you to have them up if you like them. There's a reason everyone's houses look different because we all like different things.
