Mad neighbour..

At the back of my house, not attached to but in a little block, there are 11 garages, 6 on one side, and 5 on the other.

On the side of 6, i have the use (because i rent the pair) of 2 garages, next to each other. One of the garages has no garage opposite it. Between the 2 sets of garages, there is space for a car to be parked outside (perpendicular to the garage) on either side, and for a car to drive between.
I have fiat 500, ( tiny car) that I park right up to my garage. The garage opposite has had the garage door blocked up and the family access it as storage from their garden, the ones next to me are owned by my neighbour who uses them for storage and doesn't need access. Essentially, me parking there blocks no one.
Man along the road recently got a van from work, he has started parking outside his garage ( this blocks the garage to the side of him but is not impacting me, no issue)
I have parked my car, and am away for the half term.
This morning I get a call from my neighbour to tell me that van man is looking for me as I have blocked him in.
Only, I haven't.

His mate from work has left his van in front of the neighbours van, outside someone else's garage and gone somewhere on a training course. And taken the key to the van with him.
This means that as he has parked badly, neighbour now cant get his van out.
He wants my number from neighbour, or neighbour to pass on the message to me that I have to come home to move my car so he can get out.

As his mate is at work, he cant? / wont be able to move it till some later point.

Apparently I (according to the rant he gave my neighbour) 'stupid fuckin women drivers, she cant fucking park' have caused him to lose a days pay...

Ive had a look at the footage from my dash as I was a bit confused...My car was parked there Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, neighbour comes and goes merrily. He comes home Thursday, his mate turns up later, and then the neighbour realises this morning that he is stuck...

How the hell does he think this is my issue????
Im not back till Sunday. Neighbour technically 'could' go in and get my spare key. AIBU to think, fuck it, this stupid woman driver will let you figure it out yourself?

Thanks for the diagram. 100% not your issue. I wouldnt be in a rush to move it on Sunday either.

Hi friendly neighbour
I can see from my camera footage that van driver has gone in & out every day until the other van parked up.
I suggest he deals with the person actually causing the problem - the other van driver.

Then you've made it clear you have footage, which may be important to protect your car, & that you know he's trying to bully you because he's not thought about the consequences of his mate parking up there.

If he comes round when you get home, if you decide to speak to him, open the door with your phone in uour hand and record everything.

toomuchfaff · 21/02/2025 17:36

No absofuckinlutely not.

If and when I decide to move my car, will have absolutely no bearing on his rant. ranting neighbour will be told in no uncertain terms his issues were nothing to do with me and the next time he speaks to me (even via an intermediary) he better be polite or to expect no response (same as this time).

Tosspot misogynistic twit.

If anything tell the neighbour, "nothing to do with me, your issue needs to be taken up with your mate who doesnt seem to know how to park".

BetterWithPockets · 21/02/2025 17:33

I think I’d suggest your neighbour (the one who messaged you) explains to van man that your car has been there all week with no problem, and you’ve reviewed dash footage of him coming and going previously with no issue. That way he also knows you have a dash cam, so won’t be tempted to do anything rash…

As you asked..
Proportions are off...but you get the gist

Nowt to do with you, enjoy the rest of your holiday!

MalteserGeezee · 21/02/2025 17:12

Obviously as this is a parking thread, we need a diagram 😉

But I can't see why this is your problem to solve, so I'd just merrily ignore until you're back from your holiday as planned

Nondintense · 21/02/2025 17:12

You would be unreasonable to go sort this out for him. Not your problem! Assume your camera footage is stored and won't be deleted after a certain period etc? In case anything happened to the car while you're not there.
