Mad neighbour..

At the back of my house, not attached to but in a little block, there are 11 garages, 6 on one side, and 5 on the other.

On the side of 6, i have the use (because i rent the pair) of 2 garages, next to each other. One of the garages has no garage opposite it. Between the 2 sets of garages, there is space for a car to be parked outside (perpendicular to the garage) on either side, and for a car to drive between.
I have fiat 500, ( tiny car) that I park right up to my garage. The garage opposite has had the garage door blocked up and the family access it as storage from their garden, the ones next to me are owned by my neighbour who uses them for storage and doesn't need access. Essentially, me parking there blocks no one.
Man along the road recently got a van from work, he has started parking outside his garage ( this blocks the garage to the side of him but is not impacting me, no issue)
I have parked my car, and am away for the half term.
This morning I get a call from my neighbour to tell me that van man is looking for me as I have blocked him in.
Only, I haven't.

His mate from work has left his van in front of the neighbours van, outside someone else's garage and gone somewhere on a training course. And taken the key to the van with him.
This means that as he has parked badly, neighbour now cant get his van out.
He wants my number from neighbour, or neighbour to pass on the message to me that I have to come home to move my car so he can get out.

As his mate is at work, he cant? / wont be able to move it till some later point.

Apparently I (according to the rant he gave my neighbour) 'stupid fuckin women drivers, she cant fucking park' have caused him to lose a days pay...

Ive had a look at the footage from my dash as I was a bit confused...My car was parked there Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday, neighbour comes and goes merrily. He comes home Thursday, his mate turns up later, and then the neighbour realises this morning that he is stuck...

How the hell does he think this is my issue????
Im not back till Sunday. Neighbour technically 'could' go in and get my spare key. AIBU to think, fuck it, this stupid woman driver will let you figure it out yourself?

He knocked last night, said I had blocked him in and made him lose a day's pay.
I went to the block with him so he could show me.
I pretended to be confused as his work van was right there at thr front...then I noticed the 2nd van behind and questioned how he got it in there...he then had to admit the infront van was a colleague, I asked why he couldn't move it. Apparently he isn't on a course, he's left it there to go on holiday.
I said I wasn't able to move mine as I'd been drinking, he offered to move it for me. I declined, insurance issues, and said that I wasn't parked badly, the other van was.
He did try to pressure me into it, but I'm not easily moved. I told him my car would move at some point today.
I also suggested he called his boss / company / owner etc to ask for the spare key to be delivered.

He got a bit mardy, and after the few vinos, so did I.
He then told me I was being one of those pathetic women..so I laughed and said that it was a shock that a man who can't get to work because of his own stupidly thinks I'm the pathetic one.
The car is still there.

Incredible 😂
I’m just mainly sad for your neighbour who wasn’t able to witness this first hand 🤣

Why do none of you actually park inside your garages instead of outside them?

The garages are tiny. My car fits in it, but as it's a 3 door the doors are heavy and long so getting in and out is hard. Anything bigger isn't fitting

I’d suggest that the owners of the garage being blocked by missing van man get it towed if it’s obstructing the road.

LittleRedYarny · 24/02/2025 12:54

Any update OP?

@Gingerkittykat if it’s like the garage I have in a bloc, they were built in the 70s for 70s sized cars - modern cars are just too big for them.

I used to rent one just like that, bloody hell they are small. A Ford Focus would fit no problem but a Ford Focus estate? No chance, too bloody long. And a normal SUV is too tall also. These garages were built low and slim.

FormidableMizzP · 24/02/2025 11:21

Abso- bloody- lutely, not your problem at all! Well done.
Van man is a total and utter mysogynistic pr*ck.
Can't wait for an update next week, where you tell van man his van mate is "the stupid fkg woman that doesn't even know how to park" 😂😂😂
Love the way these men with arrested development direct their ire at the wrong person!

welshmercury · 24/02/2025 00:49

i would call the company on the van as if it’s not parked outside his own garage then he’s blocking access for other people.

CatamaranViper · 23/02/2025 21:05

No matter what time of day it is, you've had far too much to drink to move your car.

"Sorry I had a chocolate liqueur/beef with red wine jue/cough syrup and cannot possibly move my car now. Such a shame vantwat from twatsRus parked like a twat eh? Let's call them to complain"

Noshowlomo · 23/02/2025 20:55

Be prepared for more knocks from the dick head tomorrow. Hit him with “we both know it’s not my car thats blocking you in”

MikeRafone · 23/02/2025 20:48

Next thing you know, van man will be telling you not to park where you do 😂😂😂

Notsomarryfloppins · 23/02/2025 20:40

I got back around 7, took nice neighbour a wee gift for feeding the cat. He said van man was seen knocking my door a few times. He's an older man who was, in his words, 'tickled pink ' at how annoyed van man was.

Annoying van is still there.

Silly little me opened a bottle wine to have with my take away so I am now unable to move my car.
Happily I don't need to go out in my car in the morning as the kids have an inset day. So car roll remain in place.

Van man is blocking the garage next to his, not sure if he was agreed it with the owners

Does anyone resolve anything without swearing. There's no need for him to refer to you that way. It dosent get you anyway and straight away ot tells you what type of person your dealing with?

SatsumaDog · 23/02/2025 19:43

He’s an arsehole. I would find another way to get around for the next week or so, just so I didn’t move the car and let him out. Prat.

TonTonMacoute · 23/02/2025 19:20

He's a complete twat. He's not man enough to address the real problem! What a loser.

The fact that he had called me a stupid fuckin woman driver would give me an extra frisson of enjoyment that he's pissed off. I would certainly not be making any effort to help him out.

IDoWhateverItTakes · 23/02/2025 18:53

I would make arrangements to NOT have to move my car for another week.

Misogynistic idiots.

Scammersarescum · 23/02/2025 18:30

A white van driver is horribly sexist and blames women for everything.

Colour me shocked.

But never mind I'm sure he is a valuable member of society who, for example pays all of his taxes 🤔

Helen1625 · 23/02/2025 18:25

It's abundantly clear from your diagram that van man's mate and his stupid parking is the problem here. How long is his mate gone for?

I'd have to make some sarky comment the next time I saw him, I wouldn't let him get away with those comments!

ScreamingBeans · 23/02/2025 18:24

This is a wonderful example of the cowardice of bullying men.

He's too afraid to even raise the issue with van man, but he's not afraid of trying to bully a woman.

Some men are wankers.

Nowvoyager99 · 23/02/2025 18:22

Excellent.

Any chance you can leave your car there for a bit longer?

JustMyView13 · 23/02/2025 18:21

Firstly, great diagram, and even better neighbour. Shout out to the legend that is.
Can legendary neighbour 1 get other neighbour to complain to 101 that their garage is blocked for access perhaps?

Bonbon249 · 23/02/2025 18:19

His mate has parked his bloody great transit van badly and your dinky little Fiat 500 is the problem? I don't think so laddie boy! Your other neighbour sounds great - buy him a pint when you get back. Bonus points if he's got a vehicle that he can block van man in with too.

dawngreen · 23/02/2025 18:17

The only reason he called you is because you are a women. And some men think women are easily bullied into taking the blame. His mate will be upset if he rings him lol.
