I remember Anthea Turner punting flakes at her wedding. Carol Vorderman was always quick to front a financial product. Just seen Carole Malone on my timeline oiling on about weight loss jabs.

Any others spring to mind?

Good Law Project/Jolyon Maugham. They have about 40 staff and very expensive offices in Covent Garden but all they seem to do is write complaint letters and lose court cases.
Do the soft touches who pay for it all by monthly direct debit think they're funding some brave resistance movement?

Absolutely this creepy grifter.

ThejoyofNC · 20/02/2025 18:23

Zelensky without a doubt

ElsaLion · 20/02/2025 18:22

@Kiwi83 She has been divorced twice - look up her marriage annulment from Joseph Giuliano.

They've won quite a few court cases, which you seem to have conveniently forgotten.

Giovanna Fletcher and her Nepo Baby.

Michelle Mone, top grifter for me. Lying and greedy scumbag of a woman.
Had loads of money in the first place, yup, she worked for it at first.
Then greed took over during the covid pandemic along with her morals.
How much more bloody money does she need for gods sake?
There’s so many people in need in this country, but she knew how to work the system and topped up her bank accounts.

I'd say she she's not too far out of step with the current Royal Family TBH!

My grifter nomination is anyone who fakes/faked cancer in order to make fraudulent money. Awful, just awful.

QueenOfHiraeth · 20/02/2025 18:18

I'll add Davina McCall to the list.

Looks for a bandwagon approaching and jumps on it,. Exercise video anyone? Ooh new fad, let's have a different diet and exercise book. Keto catching on? Let's produce a "Sugar free" book and ignore the fact I replace sugar with honey or maple syrup so totally pointless. What's that? Menopause? Me, me, me! I can do that and will trademark the word "menopausing" for good measure.
You would never want to stand between her and an opportunity to make a few quid Grin

CryingAtTheDiscotheque · 20/02/2025 18:16

Farage!

ExercicenformedeZ · 20/02/2025 18:16

Trump. The Kardashians. BoJo. Farridge. The BBC. Owen Jones.

ToBlithelyGo · 20/02/2025 18:15

The entire royal family and all the hangers on.
Farage.

I'm not sure some of these are grifters... think of a grifter as someone who makes money by identifying a demographic and selling/telling them what they want to hear. Like the guru/"life coach" types. They don't actually believe what they're saying, they just know that people will pay to hear it. I guess cult leaders would be an extreme example.

basically like the tv show hustle

Pokadotspink · 20/02/2025 18:14

the general public, they want cheap products but then complain when shops on the high street go bankrupt while they are buying from ebay, amazon etc

Some people on this thread seem to be confused about what a grifter is. It's not just someone who has made money from doing very little.

Dictionary definition: person who engaged in petty or small scale swindling.

I would say Captian Tom's daughter's swindling was not small scale!

Those baggy tiktokers, absolute grifters!

Thank you for the definition, I wasn’t really sure what the true meaning of it was!
I’ll have a think and come back with a contribution once I’ve had time to think but I also agree that Tom moores daughter was such a scammy cow.

Donald J Trump.

AssassinsBlade · 20/02/2025 18:07

Some good candidates mentioned so far. I’m going to throw Tommy Robinsons name into the ring too.

labtest57 · 20/02/2025 18:07

Jack Munroe, and Jessica Taylor. Both grifters and pathological liars.

Spidey66 · 20/02/2025 18:06

I was going to say my dad. But then I realised the word was grafter, not grafter.

Crazybaby123 · 20/02/2025 18:04

Agree with the royal family. The Queen has got to be the ultimate one that ever lived!

Iloveyoubut · 20/02/2025 18:04

whatonearthisgoingonnow · 20/02/2025 17:38

I think Boris Johnson is actually incredibly smart. I don't like him, and he's certainly the master of free handouts, but he certainly isn't a man of little intelligence.

Edited

I agree. I’m not a fan, but he’s far from lacking in intelligence.

ThDanielDay · 20/02/2025 18:04

Trump has to be the best at it. I'm not even sure it's a gift when your acolytes are fucking delighted to be ripped off by you, so success wise he's got to be top. Trump NFTs, Trump dollars, Trump crypto. Magnificent

For sheer panache and absolute thick necked smuggery is hard to top the princess of Wimbledon

Probably Meghan Markle, considering how much she seemingly conned the RF and public. Honestly, a £32 million wedding for a twice divorced actress! Personally I didn't have a good feeling about her from the start, and have since been validated.

She's been divorced once.
