I remember Anthea Turner punting flakes at her wedding. Carol Vorderman was always quick to front a financial product. Just seen Carole Malone on my timeline oiling on about weight loss jabs.

Any others spring to mind?

She's a popular TV presenter. What are you for?

fairness and getting rid of money, mostly

@CurlewKate didn't say it did. was a valid and truthful statement

Probably Meghan Markle, considering how much she seemingly conned the RF and public. Honestly, a £32 million wedding for a twice divorced actress! Personally I didn't have a good feeling about her from the start, and have since been validated.

Twice divorced?.

CurlewKate · 12/03/2025 23:51

@chaosmaker "I don't know what allison hammond is for"
You do know this doesn't make you look clever, don't you?

Smiling here at the suggestion of Captain Tom himself. He was never in the Regular Army, being conscripted in 194 becoming an officer, which did happen, and receiving what they called battlefield promotions.
i do not believe he had the right to keep his rank for the next

Not this tedious old chestnut again. The media campaign against this woman is like nothing I've witnessed in my lifetime. You can be Putin, Trump, Lucy Letby or Ian Brady and receive less of a relentless, years-long media excoriation than Markle has.

And for what? She is small fry. Of no consequence. The barage against her is disproportionate to anything she's apparently done: and face it, idle gossip about someone else's private family squabbles is very much 'small stuff'. Who gives a rat's arse? 💤

The insidious 'Good Law' project that loses every case, but is funded generously by donations through riding on the back of a prevailing social wind, and the Chartered Psychologist who takes horrendous liberties with confidential client data, spreads dangerous misinformation under the mantle of 'expertise' and conveniently avoids the rigour of peer-reviewers (and circumvents strict ethics processes) by professing to publish 'open access' (which you can still do via a peer-reviewed process, incidentally) - now that's grifting.

Dangerous grifting involving vulnerable participants, at that.

Edited

The question was about the biggest grifter I’ve seen. She’s it.

CurlewKate · 12/03/2025 10:33

@CoffeeCantata I love a royal wedding too-they make me feel at least I'm getting my money's worth for once m-although I'd be happy never to see another one if the zrF were abolished.

No comment on the other royal grifters I mentioned?

Meghan Markle. Hands down.

Don Trumpleone and his whole family for stealing a whole country from right ùnder the noses of a population shouting "More, give us more". Quite an achievement.

If Meghan Markle is a grifter for having an expensive royal wedding, then surely so are Diana Spencer, Sarah Fergusson, Catherine Middleton, Sophie Whatever her name was, Mark Phillips, Tim Whatever his name is...

If I was going to call any members of the RF grifters it would be Zara Phillips and her husband. Still both doing very well out of connections and long ago sporting achievements.

I love royal weddings. I'm happy to give my fiver a year, or whatever it is, to fund a fantastic spectacle of music and pageantry like these.

I think Meghan is fairly criticised because she was a very demanding bridezilla (pushed for more/better things than she was generously offered) and because she notoriously rubbished the whole thing to a global audience, implying that it was just a meaningless spectacle for the peasantry. Silly cow! What a PR own-goal.

I did enjoy Meghan's wedding until I learned more about her...

Some say there was a marriage annulled before she married Trevor Engelson in 2011 @chambawamba

If it’s true it’s still just once divorced

Both vile!

I remember an interviewer ages ago questioning Louise Redknapp on something she had done-can't remember what. She smiled, shrugged and said "Smile and bank it!"
I admire that attitude-many well known people only have a very short time in the public eye.

But I think many of the people on here aren't grifters. They are criminals and exploiters. Calling Paula Vennells a "grifter" is to utterly minimise her behaviour, for example.

CoffeeCantata · 12/03/2025 06:41

Bubbles456 · 20/02/2025 17:44

Stacey Solomon. Quite how she's gone from an X Factor finalist all those years ago to now presenting multiple primetime TV shows, flogging everything from cleaning products to deodorant, and her multiple homeware ranges etc. is beyond me!

She's positioned as an interiors and home organisation guru but to me she comes across as fake, phony and just not very intelligent.

Definitely!

But I think TV is rife with people like this nowadays. I guess it's some executive's idea of making it less elitist 🙄and creating more 'relatablility', or something mad.

There's a reason why it used to be elite people on the telly! They generally had expertise and knew what they were doing/talking about. You might learn something by watching them. I want David Attenborough-standard people if I'm going to pay a license fee, thank you.

I'm old, but honestly! When I see one more thick celebrity bumbling through some banal experience for our benefit, or some mediocre twit who's been picked up the media folk as someone we can all relate to, I switch off.

I have revised my choice to Elon Musk, pillaging the usa in exchange for his contracts worth 1 billion dollars within the last month of trumps dictatorship. All the while raiding medicaid medicare social security, etc etc etc....A super grift if you like.

I'm quoting myself here to add this, which supports my vote for musk based on his current activities...the more I discover about him the more I realise he is someone to be genuinely scared of. 😱 I definitely won't be going to usa now.

The Environmental Law Foundation is a charity with an income of approx 120k last year. The Good Law Project is set up as a company limited by guarantee that, nevertheless, gets its 4million+ income mainly from donations.

So not that similar.

Thanks for that bit of juice ! They certainly like to imply that they're a charity

Vitriolinsanity · 02/03/2025 20:35

@JandamiHash oh come on, whilst she was in it you cannot possibly say with a straight face that Victoria can sing.

I love her for many reasons, but singing is not one of them.

2Pudding · 02/03/2025 19:20

Thank Foy19, maybe if DancingFeet doesn't believe I am not intelligent, they could respond with an well thought out intelligent response rather than labelling

Cakeface19 · 02/03/2025 17:52

All those bastards that are responsible for the Post Office scandal. Paula Vennels et al. They’ve got blood on their hands. They’re the top grifting class. Fraudsters. They jailed innocent people. Poor souls took their lives because of their disgraceful actions and behaviours.
And the majority of those affected still are fighting for compensation whilst the tossers from Fujitsu and the Post Office still work or draw bloody massive pensions.
