Get paid on Monday evening, not much until then. I need to get dinners for tomorrow until Monday-two adults, one young Dc
Any ideas of cheap but yummy, as find it a bit depressing eating boring pasta on a Friday/Saturday night

Depends whatvyour budget is and what you have already in cupboards.
If you have some basic ingredients you may be able to make some soup.

Noodles/stock/any meat - ham bits etc
Leek/potato/stock
Sweetcorn/1 potato/stock - add cooked chicken or noodles/pasta
Tim tomatoes/chickpeas/stock

Jacket potatoes
Big batch of bolognese- with pasta one day, add some chilli powder and have on jacket potatoes another.
Pancakes are cheap and easy milk/eggs/flour. Can make and add a savoury filling if want to.

I don't understand what is depressing or boring about pasta, it's a great food with loads of options.

It’s just always my go to option when lacking money, open to any ideas to make it tastier though

Oh ok

So will only really have staples in after tomorrow…milk, butter, bread, eggs, some fruit, few potatoes
Will have €40

Cross posted. Ooo will have a think. There's plenty you can add to what you have without spending too much. What country are you in? As cost of living...€40 could go alot further in some places than others!

Loveduppenguin · 20/02/2025 11:42

List out everything you have and pop it in chat gpt and it’ll give you suggestions

Yes I have cash, nothing really in house after today, aside from normal things…bread, milk, butter, eggs
I just need four main meal ideas

"Normal" is entirely subjective.
What veg u got, seasonings, meat / other protein?
I'm vegan so it isnt usual for me to have eggs in the house (although do at the moment for dc).
Suppose you could make French toast with the eggs and bread?

Loveduppenguin · 20/02/2025 11:41

How much do you want to spend?

Becauseisaidsookay · 20/02/2025 11:41

I guess they mean for posting in AIBU when there wasn't an AIBU?
As for your actual post, more info needed. What you've got in, how much you can spend before payday etc

Yesterday i did an inventory of what I had in and am just going through the list. If you can buy cheese and tomatos that will give you cheese toasties and tomato soup and / or cheese and tomato omelette. Tins of sardines are 47 pence at Aldi right now and I had that this morning on toast. Beans and jackets and cheese. How much cash do you have?

ForZanyAquaViewer · 20/02/2025 11:40

Buy lots of veg and some eggs. Different vegetable curries and rice, different soups and bread. Shakshuka.

JC03745 · 20/02/2025 11:40

Do you have any clubcard vouchers/points you could use?

This is a bit vague @Becauseisaidsookay.
What do you have in?
Do you have any cash?
Access to a community fridge or Olio?

You can get quite a few meals out of a chicken if you use every scrap of meat. Roast, curry, pasta bake, salad.

What food have you already got in the house?
Whole chicken goes along way- roast, then sandwiches, or sweetcorn soup or noodle soup
