To be exasperated by Vinted sellers

I think you have to keep an open mind - you can sometimes have disappointment with Vinted purchases. I never bother haggling - I either want to buy something at the price offered or I don't. And I always make sure that I press the button to say received and give feedback promptly.

I've had a few duds, but given the amount of things I've bought, that's to be expected. I've had some amazing clothes - things I couldn't possibly aspire to buying new. I've also found 99.9% of sellers genuine and lovely. Fashion is my hobby and I love vintage accessories - Vinted has been a treasure trove for me.

It's the "brand new without tag" that annoys me. It usually means they wore it once or twice. At least be honest about it.

I am not using Vinted to haggle though. People are free to do it, but I can't be bothered.

If you make a ridiculously low offer, I'll decline. Then it's likely you will up the offer by a few pennies/ pounds, then again I'll decline, then you'll make another offer. I honestly can't be bothered.

I accept reasonable offers usually, especially if I have to drop things at the post office anyway. Half the time people don't come back to buy, which is fine, but I am not playing a haggling game on top of that.

Yes I’ve seen this. I’ve made it clear to the seller it’s the same price retail so they are not going to get a sale.
I tried to sell a coat which which brand new and I advertised it at half the price of what it was retail but people were offering me £5!

I share your frustration, but ultimately it's up to them as it's their loss. I offered £20 for a £25 summer dress that was listed 6 months ago, it got declined and I just thought oh well, I don't really need it! I thought I wasn't being cheeky but the seller clearly did...

Got to admit I get annoyed with the amount of people selling things 'brand new, with tags' when the item only has the removeable brand tag attached not the price tag.
Like we can't tell the difference!

I tend to save my good quality/brand stuff for vinted, as I don't find it worth storing and packing unless you can make £10-£20 minimum for an item. Mostly they sell, but if they don't I'm usually happy to keep them or just take them next time I go to the charity shop.

I imagine there are other sellers like me - not desperate to sell, and know what their floor price is. So wild offers are ignored

I don't really get the logic of blocking someone who's interested in buying your stuff? You're actively blocking someone who wants to give you money and has hinted they're interested with an opening offer.

Surely if you want a much higher price just offer them a higher counter offer? They might accept. That's what haggling is

fair enough, but I don't have time or will to deal with this. If someone offers me a ridiculously low price, I just block them, it's quicker than dealing with future silly offers!

I'm also surprised pp seem to take this so personally. I haggle over everything - I usually offer the lowest price the app will accept as an opening bid, then increase if they won't take it.

I've got some great bargains and all the stuff I've had so far has been good quality. I also haggle with people when I'm selling stuff.

I enjoy Vinted - I think I enjoy it more than normal shopping

It does frustrate me how often I see a dress on 'only worn once, pristine condition' for £50, then on the same places website it's on sale for £40! I've offered £25 and they say 'no way I paid £80 and only wore it once' and seem to think me being able to get it new from the shop for £40 is irrelevant.

If it was £160 used and you offered £95, I’d block you too. You’re a time waster rather than a serious buyer.

If they are anything like me, sometimes I'd rather not sale than sale at a ridiculously low price.

You have no way of knowing what the seller has in mind, but sometimes it's just about selling everything fast for very little, but other times there's no rush

Yeah I had this. I bid £95 for a £160 designer bag that was used. The bag is still for sale weeks later. I went to offer a higher bid but they had blocked me. I didn't think my bid was that bad tbh

I didn't say that there's anything wrong with being interested/invested in clothes, for yourself, for your kids, for necessity, for fun, and so on, just that I'm not bothered enough to spend time seeking stuff out.

@Thirteenblackcat ah thank you, this was sent with EVRI. I looked at her feedback today and it seems she makes a habit of never picking items up. Weird.

I don't sell a huge amount but I do it to raise money for a charity very close to my heart, so I'll check buyers feedback from now on as well as sellers. Thank you ☺️

There's definitely some absolutely tat on there but if you select carefully,you can avoid it all. I have some beautiful items, brand new with tags for a bargain price. I know what brand and size I want, new with tags and I check the sellers feedback .

Must just ask any Vinted selling experts please, if a buyer doesn't pick an item up from the locker/shop, what happens to it? My name and address aren't on the parcel, so it won't find its way back to me.

It's designed for Vinted to earn money, it's not an ethical charity. It took them a while to make a profit, but it's a good model.
Yes, they have a good ethos and hopefully a positive impact.

Vinted is there for whatever you want use it for.

Of course some people use it as "fast fashion", buy then sell back.

Re: customer protection... Vinted has some form of that as well. Besides, Vinted is mostly used for accessories, clothes, books, toys etc. Not generally products that have much of a warranty if you buy new anyway. When have you last tried to return a dress that shrunk in the wash? Or a book that you decided not to read after all? Or a board game that's missing a piece? It's not so easy, even if you are within your rights.

Anyway, if I put "very good" or "as new" as a seller, I mean it. Buyers can decide to trust me, or not. If they don't want to trust me, then yes, they should probably buy new, but I'm not going to sell it dirt cheap just because. And if you're going to take significantly less pleasure in a new purchase just because it is slightly creased, then you probably shouldn't buy secondhand either.

I generally use Vinted to resell (and buy) popular brands of clothes and toys that really retain their value, so have never run into this issue. Sometimes I do get cheeky offers from buyers, but that's usually just people who haven't done their research. Yeah, you're lucky to get even a pound for Primark jeans, but that's not the case for all brands.

With Vinted, it all boils down to how much you’re willing to pay. I like to shop secondhand as its better for the planet as well as my purse, but it’s not always feasible as people ask laughable amounts of money for some items.
