Not farting in front of DH

Not really an AIBU but I love hearing what others think!

Have been with my DH for 18 years and have never intentionally farted in front of him. I mean I know it’s impossible to hold every fart in but he’s never actually heard one! If I need to I would go in another room or be discreet. My mum and sister are the same and a couple of friends. Also my DH is the same and won’t in front of me unless he does by mistake!

I know it’s natural and everyone does it but I’d never want to endure someone’s else’s fart nor make them endure mine! It hardly makes you attractive does it! That being said I wouldn’t fart in front of anyone… I mean maybe the dog!

IBS is exacerbated by stress. If ppl dont want to hear the consequences of stressing me out, dont stress me out in the first place

I have IBS, if I'm having a flare then I'd genuinely have to be up and down every 4 or 5 minutes, can't be doing with that.

IBS is exacerbated by stress. If ppl dont want to hear the consequences of stressing me out, dont stress me out in the first place

I had an ex who never let rip, at least in company.

On two occasions I woke up in the morning with her in agony due to her not letting it out

I didn't fart in front of mine for 13 years. Then tore into my bum having our son, pooed myself in front of him multiple times in the following days and was unable to hold a fart for about 8 months. So I've more than made up for it! Thankfully I have had bum physio and can hold it now, so I'm back to being coy and going in the other room.

We still find each other attractive because we don't burp, fart, or go to the loo in front of each other.

we live by these words in our house. No one holds a fart. I can’t understand why anyone would. It’s only natural after all.

What’s that got to do with it? Sex is an activity both participants enjoy, whereas my ex knew perfectly well neither I or our kids enjoyed being subjected to his farts.

Nope, it's a bathroom thing! Obviously over 20 years there are the occasional slips but I'm mortified if it happens! DH v rarely too but he just says 'sorry'. Manners don't have to disappear when you get together with someone!

If you wouldn't do something on a first date, then I think that's your clue.

Obviously some people wouldn't have sex on a first date, some of us sometimes do, so it's a non-issue 😂

@Dancingatthepinkponyclub my dh and I never do that in front of each other. I personally think people should hold it in and leave the room. married 46 years.

Twenty five years and past peri and still don’t fart in front of eachother. Wasn’t my choice, DH says he won’t fart in front of me, so I won’t do it (on purpose) in front of him. I actually really like it, feels quite respectful.

I'm with you OP.

We've been together for 15 years and I have never intentionally farted in front of him. I've done it in my sleep a good few times and he's heard and told me gleefully the next morning 🙄

I just think it's bad manners, that's all. He hardly ever lets rip in front of me either, thank god.

My first husband had IBS and it was like living in the Bog of Eternal Stench. Nope!

Just a thought. I gave up wheat a couple of years ago. I simply don't need to clench any more. It has been transformative. The eczema disappeared, the bloating disappeared, the aches and pains disappeared - all along with the flatulence.
