Not farting in front of DH

Not really an AIBU but I love hearing what others think!

Have been with my DH for 18 years and have never intentionally farted in front of him. I mean I know it’s impossible to hold every fart in but he’s never actually heard one! If I need to I would go in another room or be discreet. My mum and sister are the same and a couple of friends. Also my DH is the same and won’t in front of me unless he does by mistake!

I know it’s natural and everyone does it but I’d never want to endure someone’s else’s fart nor make them endure mine! It hardly makes you attractive does it! That being said I wouldn’t fart in front of anyone… I mean maybe the dog!

what do you think?!

Another one who doesn't burp, fart or use the toilet in front of dh. I also have issues and can't do a number 2 if dh is in the house Confused

Lou205 · 16/02/2025 21:05

Apologies for being crude but I've had his cock in my mouth. He needs to be able to put up with the odd fart.

Netcam · 16/02/2025 21:05

Lemsipper · 16/02/2025 20:36

Same! I still pretend I dont poo!

That's funny.

We don't fart, I think I decided I wanted a fart free relationship this time. My exH used to fart without inhibitions and also poo when I was in the bath, much to my disgust.

DH and I talk about pooing, but just do it in private, as we do with farting. I tell him I like to maintain the mystery.

Yellowrosessmellpetaly · 16/02/2025 21:04

Titasaducksarse · 16/02/2025 20:42

Nope. I once read that the smell contains small particles of faecal matter.....gross

I'd always thought that was obvious, it's hardly going to contain particles of roses is it!

FartfulCodger · 16/02/2025 21:04

RosesAndHellebores · 16/02/2025 20:29

Different strokes for different folks. Obviously I wouldn't in company but in the privacy of our bedroom and vice versa. He watched me give birth - a trump isn't a game changer.

Interesting that you think it's such a vulgar habit yet use the vulgar word for it.

We both thought it was hilarious that when ds was a baby he used to lift his leg and smile. Just like daddy. It was innate.

Is fart a vulgar word???

ZZGirl · 16/02/2025 21:03

He's definitely heard you fart in your sleep. Just saying.

Incakewetrust · 16/02/2025 21:03

We're a fart family and I wouldn't have it any other way.
Life's too short to be uncomfortable.

Is this to the tune of 'Lord of the Dance said he'?

No, it’s more of a poem. I use it at work to put people at ease if they’re embarrassed about letting rip in front of me.

Lemsipper · 16/02/2025 21:01

mumzof4x · 16/02/2025 20:38

@Lemsipper me too !
If I think he's in war shot I can't go ! Music on and loo paper in first 🤣
God I'm such a princess and be honestly couldn't give a hoot I'm sure.

Omg, YES to the paper in first for anti-splash protection 🤣 I recently discovered a product called VIP POO by airwick which you spray into the bowl before pooing and it gets rid of any smell! It’s actually really good 😄

Hitchinkitchen · 16/02/2025 21:01

I actually blow off more than my husband. We refer to it as parping and have different grades. There’s a micro-parp, mini-parp, full-parp, and even maxi and mega parps. We’re both in our 50s!! 🤣🤣

TheLaughOfRustyLee · 16/02/2025 21:00

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 16/02/2025 20:46

Whoever you are and wherever you may be, always let your wind blow free, church or chapel let it rattle, because holding it in was the death of me.

we live by these words in our house. No one holds a fart. I can’t understand why anyone would. It’s only natural after all.

Is this to the tune of 'Lord of the Dance said he'?

I have full control of my sphincter so have never done it either. My rule of thumb is - if you wouldn't do it on the first date, you shouldn't do it in front of your long-term lover.

Thank Christ I got it out the way on the first date then.

I farted, he farted, we decided to spend our lives together farting freely.

OverthinkingOlive · 16/02/2025 20:58

I've only ever farted in front of partners I wasn't really into

whynotwhatknot · 16/02/2025 20:58

i o fart obviously -but i never found it funny my husband is loud with his it just gross

Andoutcomethewolves · 16/02/2025 20:58

My mum recently told me that she first farted in front of my dad when my older brother was about 6 - at that point they'd been together 14 years, through three pregnancies and births and spent a large amount of that time all living in campers/caravans or single rooms in shared houses, so without even a proper separate private space! By the time I came along a year later she'd fully embraced 'free farting' 😅 so I can't imagine her being so shy/demure/ladylike!

I've farted in front of DH since the start pretty much, and same for him. Can't imagine not!

TheLaughOfRustyLee · 16/02/2025 20:58

bum physio

What on earth? 😆

Rattai · 16/02/2025 20:57

I have never farted in front of any boyfriend... My ex husband and I never farted in each others company and it's the same in my relationship now. I sometimes hear him from a distance... But he'd never intentionally do it in my presence.
I really like that

Middlepiepush · 16/02/2025 20:56

PepsiPepsiPepsi · 16/02/2025 20:50

Same here I don't fart in front of anyone it's gross to just sit there farting

Me neither. It is gross.

ParsnipPuree · 16/02/2025 20:54

ArtTheClown · 16/02/2025 20:27

I let rip, but so does he. I'm puerile and find it hilarious.
On Valentine's morning I wanted coffee in bed so I farted loudly to wake him. up. When he only stirred, I farted again and that got him properly awake, and I got my coffee.

Love that.

Bumble2016 · 16/02/2025 20:54

If we have dodgy tums and know the fart is likely to be lethal, we avoid each other. Otherwise, loud, airy farts are fair game but they're certainly not constant!

Craftycorvid · 16/02/2025 20:53

Reminds me of the old joke…’how dare you fart before my wife!’ ‘Very sorry, I wasn’t aware it was her turn.’

OKNerd · 16/02/2025 20:53

CheekyHobson · 16/02/2025 20:46

What’s that got to do with it? Sex is an activity both participants enjoy, whereas my ex knew perfectly well neither I or our kids enjoyed being subjected to his farts.

Edited

If he expects you to treat each other like he treats a client, then why isn’t he having sex with his clients?

Hoenstly how do some of you lot cope in life when I little fart is triggering

Nodlikeyouwerelistening · 16/02/2025 20:52

Being in an intimate relationship means taking the good and the bad parts of being human, surely! I can’t imagine not feeling comfortable enough with the person whose children I’ve birthed to not fart in front of them (worse happened in pregnancy and labour, let’s put it that way!). There’s a time and place for all things, but at home with only immediate family members, who cares?! I’m sure one day we’ll be changing each other’s incontinence pads. It’s part of the deal. You just can’t be bashful about these things.

Ohhelpicantthinkofaname · 16/02/2025 20:52

DiscoBeat · 16/02/2025 20:49

It really is just the most basic of manners!

It’s just a fart. It’s part of life. But then I guess I have a job where I regularly have to assess peoples ability to toilet themselves. So all the bodily functions are just that to me. It’s natural and not something to be coy about.

if I stay at my sisters we like to see which of us can fart the other awake. It’s hilarious 🤣.

OKNerd · 16/02/2025 20:52

BreezyScroller · 16/02/2025 20:45

surely you give MORE consideration to the person you have sex with, than with a random stranger?

Well no because his measure of how to treat a partner is how you’d treat a client. But they aren’t the same relationships and if a man said this to me I’d probably laugh in his face
