DH not happy

I have just entertained DMIL DFIL and all the family for a roast dinner. We had a bottle of bubbles when they arrived. I cooked and served a full roast. Then we went for a walk, we have 4 under 5.
When we got back I did teas and coffees for everyone. Cleared, unloaded and reloaded the dishwasher etc. As well as breastfeeding a baby.
Had a quick dance party to tire kids out.
during which DH commented I was drunk and should stop dancing.
We have now put the kids to bed.
Have poured a glass of wine out of what was left from DMIL and DFiL bottle they left with us. Fully thought I earned it but maybe not. Am I wrong.

Perhaps you need more self control then?

Or you could unclench occasionally.

Sorry, quoted you not @BatchCookBabe apologies

But you’re not, and I have tagged you twice in a post doing the maths that you didn’t do, using the guidance you quoted, to show you you’re not right, plus highlighting the guidance you also quoted saying that social drinking (as described by the OP) doesn’t stop you breastfeeding as normal. I wonder if you’ll ignore this post as well?

Likely.

I do when I'm right yeah. (Like I am on this thread.)

He sounds like a party pooper and you sound like super mum!

Or 3. 😂

Likely.

Yes of course, the dh should have assisted. Maybe he did, we obviously only have the ops side of the story.

When someone says someone is drunk there is usually an issue.

Now OP is a liar too. Of course.

No there isn't. Especially if that person is an arsehole.

Ineffable23 · 16/02/2025 20:42

Completelyjo · 16/02/2025 20:37

Once again, at a minimum the bottle of wine was split into 4 glasses. A minimum because we don’t know what the in-laws drank while they sat on their arse while OP cooked and cleaned up around them.
Which makes each glass of wine 12.5ml over a standard medium measure. ML! More spills running down the bottle for god sake.
And unless OP served her Prosecco in a mug it was likely the typical size which gets 6 from a bottle because there isn’t even much space to over pour in a fizz glass.
But keep suggesting the OP sat there with 1 bottle and 1 straw.

Yes, I definitely get 6 glasses out of a bottle of fizz, 7 in fact at new year - I remember because I was expecting to need 2 for midnight but I didn't, one did 7 of us fine, and without being at all mean in terms of filling the glasses up.

Then I have some old cut crystal glasses, which means I tend to serve wine at about 150ml a glass, unless I don't give it any room at all to breathe.

Obviously if I had glasses that were the enormous goblets you sometimes get now, that might be easier to over pour, but it's definitely not a certainty that wine will get fewer than 5 glasses to a bottle.

Gloriia · 16/02/2025 20:41

SouthLondonMum22 · 16/02/2025 20:40

You know what else gets someone very angry and defensive?

When they do absolutely everything, the other person sits and watches and then dares to comment about a few drinks of wine when they didn't even lift a finger.

She's had the in laws there all day, cooked, cleaned, four kids, and a husband who seemingly is doing fuck all all day. I'd have a drink after all that, too.

Edited

Or 3. 😂

Wow the breastfeeding and drinking haters with no scientific proof are out in force today. Fml. I guess u can join my husband in the bin

Just for the haters. It's not the amount that f alcohol in your system that poses a risk to the baby, only minuscule amounts are found. The issue is being intoxicated and feeding a baby, the same applies if you are bottle feeding. I doubt very much due the the period time the alcohol has been consumed over that OP is drunk x

Yes he should have helped out, has the OP clarified why he did not? Even so, doing all of that, should not mean that she 'needed the drink at the end of the day'.

People who drink too much always get very angry and defensive when family members mention it.

If you had 3 small glasses over 8hrs fine as a one off but I'd guess it was more, hence his comment.

Could he be worried about you breastfeeding?

Why? Surely she’d be able to hold a baby after 3 glasses of wine?

TagSplashMaverick · 16/02/2025 20:38

TicklishReader · 16/02/2025 20:36

Here's a fun fact! A whole bottle of wine can be one glass if you pop a straw in it.

I was about to share my technique for strawpedoing a bottle of fizz. You get completely wasted and will do the most painful burp of your life, but what a party trick.

You aren't right.

You are still ignoring that the link you posted even backed it up by saying a baby would be mildly drowsy if mum has around 15 drinks. 3 drinks is nowhere near 15 drinks.

Not long till Daily Fail picks this one up.

Perhaps he should have helped her out with all the hosting and cleaning up after his family visiting, or taken care of his children, and she wouldn't have needed the drink at the end of the day.

SpareBoxRoomForEmergencies · 16/02/2025 20:26

She's having three.

She had 1 at lunchtime, worked bloody hard cleaning up, went for a long walk, had a 2nd at teatime, and has just poured a 3rd. She didn’t neck an entire bottle in an hour.

there was 1 bottle of fizz between 4 adults, and possibly a bottle of wine between 4 adults, or it might have been the leftovers of the bottle of fizz. Either way, that’s not a lot, not over an entire afternoon and most of the evening.
