To go to Qatar alone as a single woman?

I am desperate to go to the formula one in Qatar. I've had a look and flights and hotels are nowhere near as expensive as I expected them to be.

The actual country looks beautiful and the excursions look cheaper than I expected. I'm very close to just taking the plunge and booking, but am I being unreasonable to go? My family are torn, I've discussed my plans with them and my mum in particular has some pretty strong opinions on the country and me going - she thinks I'd be treated like a second class citizen

I've never been anywhere, where I've felt so safe as Qatar. I did go with DH but sometimes we did things separately and I was always treated with respect. I feel more nervous walking through my UK city on a Saturday night.

I’ve been to Qatar alone as a single woman, just for 3 days, and it was fine. No problems getting Ubers or how I was treated at all.

I’ve also gone to a couple of F1 races/weekends alone (Melbourne and Singapore) and that was also fine. I can’t imagine Qatar will be any different as long as your make sure you’ve covered the logistics i.e. how you’re getting to the track and back given the crowds/high demand.

I couldn't do it and wouldn't want to go with DH either. I remember visiting somewhere more liberal in the area and speaking to someone at the airport about luggage issues and them saying their answers back to DH only even though he was trying to read something.

Also, westerners in my experience are treated more like royalty than second class citizens.

I went alone to visit a friend and felt very safe. My friend was working for a few of the days I was there so I went a few places out and about alone and took taxis and it was fine. It’s a weird place, but not at all unsafe. You’re safer there than you are walking through plenty of UK cities.
