Conspiracy theories about the WEF are also generally anti-semitic as they spread the rumours that the WEF is controlled by Jews.

The people who keep banging on about farmers and inheritance tax and its detremintal impact on our food supply also tend to be ardent Brexiteers who never admit the hugely detrimental impact of Brexit on farming and our food supply.

Completely opposite - people who understand basics of economics and behavioral impact of taxation are really worried about this IHT. And because of this understanding of economics they mostly were staunch Remainers.

@TheNuthatch The PM didn't go to Davos. It was Reeves and Reynolds in 2024.

Doesn't really matter which members of the govt go: the PM, his cabinet ministers or any of our MPs. For example, when Starmer met with Bill Gates and Co at Downing Street, I would still expect that the public should be able to see at least some meeting minutes that would provide details of the meeting, its purpose, actions, agreements reached etc. In other words, transparency as we both seem to agree and information that would give the public a sense of the government's accountability to it.

Keeping these meetings entirely private behind the closed doors and then being surprised with all so called conspiracies circulating around them does not seem sensible.

Yes I fully agree. Although I doubt they would want us to know exactly what goes on behind the scenes!

That isn’t true.

I am a remainer who is very concerned about food security. That’s why the small farmer aspect of the IHT change worries me. I know other people equally concerned. All remainers.

Making this a Brexit punishment is silly.

Yes me too.
The government are hell bent on punishing those who don't vote labour, even if it risks food security.

I think this photo summarises the intentions of the WEF's Agenda 2030 perfectly.

The description of those goals

Porcuporpoise · 12/02/2025 13:27

Why would the food supply be disrupted? If it's good land it'll be bought by a more profitable (and likely better run) farmer or farming business. So the results just as likely to be more food as less.

How on earth have you reached the conclusion that any farms taxed out of existence will simply be bought by much better farmers?

So your post was a cutely disingenuous excuse to trot out your sgenda?

’I don’t understand. Someone please explain.’

’Well, politics and finance are intertwined.’

’Gosh! Are you saying that we are being governed by WEF as Starmer is in thrall to them but any politician wd have their agenda so we are not being governed for the good of the UK but for the global elite, hence the push to relinquish land through taxation so our food supply is disrupted? Imagine!’

MistressoftheDarkSide · 12/02/2025 13:00

So people are not calling the WEF a conspiracy theory any more? Hallelujah.

Since corporations were given the power to sue governments if they interfered with their profit making abilities the writing has been on the wall. People have sneered at the concept of a NWO for decades, but it's all coming into play and has been hiding in plain sight all along.

yakamoza · 12/02/2025 10:51

I wouldn't say it's inappropriate for them to attend altogether but feel that there has to be a lot more transparency for the public as to what is being discussed in these meetings, agreements reached, actions planned etc.

Starmer or others like him aren't visiting those forums for fun or on private business. The latter would have had nothing to do with us but given that he is the PM, I personally feel all his trips should be transparent and such meetings with corporate elites minuted.

There are some meetings that cannot be disclosed in full as they may be related to state security etc but this cannot possibly apply to all of them. I have never seen any minutes of PMs' meetings with the Davos crowd, anything documents detailing what came out of those, decisions made, policies implemented as a result etc, etc...

I agree that there should be more transparency with the deals they do, specifically what they promise in return.

Is it from this 2023 interview?

Sherbs12 · 12/02/2025 11:03

If this is from The News Agents quickfire question, then I think having his full response is important. When asked why he answered Davos to ‘Davos or Westminster?’, he replied:

’Because Westminster is too constrained, it’s closed…Once you get out of Westminister to Davos or anywhere else, you actually engage with people that you can see working with... Westminister is a tribal shouting place.’

This reads very much as a criticism of parliament and his frustrations with how theatrical, divisive, limited and inefficient it is, rather than him being ‘in thrall’ to Davos - and he’s not wrong in his assessment of parliament.

Radiatorvalves · 12/02/2025 10:20

I think it’s absolutely appropriate and right for our politicians to attend. Our economy is not in a great place and they need to be in the room with financial leaders/banks and others. It isn’t a jolly jape - there is a purpose.

I wouldn't say it's inappropriate for them to attend altogether but feel that there has to be a lot more transparency for the public as to what is being discussed in these meetings, agreements reached, actions planned etc.

He said he preferred Davos as a location. That was the question. And he answered Davos because it gets things done and talk moves more quickly to action than Westminster. He wasn't in the least saying he's led by Davos or that he thinks Westminster should be subservient to Davos.

The purpose of the WEF is to enable to the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer, which fits in nicely with Sir Keir's world view.
