If you have not seen the first thread about it don’t reply you will get confused. I have called them up and they said we are going to put him in a children’s home but not until Wednesday so he will be staying at mine till then just thought I would let you know how it’s going.

maybe she's upset and didn't realize her post would be unclear and annoy you 😬

Ffs takes more than a vague thread on MN to annoy me 😂😂😂

Doggymummar · 10/02/2025 21:12

I was signed over into care when I was 15, it didn't seem to be a long process, but I only might have been told towards the end.

Because it was full ?

No it was 4 pages long

x2boys · 10/02/2025 21:11

Children's homes don't really exist anymore is he gong into to foster care ?

So why not update that thread rather than start a new one that most folk have no.clue about what's going on 🙄

Because it was full ?

Soggydog · 10/02/2025 21:10

OP Well done for getting it sorted x

Soggydog · 10/02/2025 21:09

Maybe you expect her to kidnap him and not tell him they are taking him to a foster placement? The parents can give S20 agreement for him to stay with her for a few days until they find an appropriate foster placement which is always preferable to emergency which could be anywhere, and often places like Kent for teenagers. Clearly they would obviously then have to speak to her to say when they will be picking him up.

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 10/02/2025 21:08

Good for you - that was the wisest thing to do.
he may not be in a children's home for long, Social Services will look into everything and yes maybe you will be able to foster him.

She is not a family member

The child is currently in her custody after his parents have fired him out.

Maray1967 · 10/02/2025 21:03

How is she a random person ?!!! The lad is staying with her!!!

She is not a family member

Disneytips4 · 10/02/2025 21:04

OKNerd · 10/02/2025 21:02

And you tell random people confidential information about other people’s children?

obviously a stranger ringing up asking confidential information about a random child is completely different to this.

but a child who has been kicked out of their home and is staying with another family- how do you think social services arrange to get this child to a placement without telling said family anything? Really?

LittleRedRidingHoody · 10/02/2025 21:04

@OKNerd so you'd expect to call up SS, tell them you have a child who's moved in with you that you're not comfortable being there - and for them to say what exactly? 'We'll pick him up at some point, but can't tell you when or where for GDPR reasons?'

Jen596 · 10/02/2025 21:03

Poor kid, how awful to be kicked out by your parents at 14. We know how poor outcomes are for looked after children - around half have a criminal conviction by early adulthood. Well done OP for trying to put something in place for this poor kid so they don't end up in an even worse position ie on the street.

OKNerd · 10/02/2025 20:59

Wrong. I doubt they would ever engage with anyone but a very strict list of people over this child. You REALLY think people can “call up social services” and access very confidential information over a legal process?

Disneytips4 · 10/02/2025 20:57

Yeah it’s not unusual for them to tell her that. Im sure they said something like- he can’t stay with you, we will find him a placement but it’ll be a few days

of course she would know what’s happening if he has been staying there and SS were then taking him to a foster placement. They’re hardly going to just wisk him again in the dead of night

yourmaw · 10/02/2025 20:55

Glad you updated. circumstances for him sound pretty grim at home. How is he with all this going on?

Disneytips4 · 10/02/2025 20:55

OKNerd · 10/02/2025 20:53

Seriously though I doubt SS tell any old rando about a vulnerable child’s situation

Maybe read the comment about not commenting unless you've seen the thread, before calling someone a liar?

Everyone has the right to comment on a thread. OP needs to update if she is starting a new thread. Or it's a thread about a thread.
