To say that prisons should be abolished altogether?

Rehabilitation and community justice models work better than locking people away. AIBU to think prisons are outdated and ineffective?

This would work fine, IF we brought back the death penalty for anyone dangerous. I.e. rapists, killers and nonces as none of those can be rehabilitated.

It's not just about rehabilitation. It's about keeping these people away from society to keep the rest of us safe.

I'm the other way. I would throw most murderers, all rapists and all nonces on an island to fend for themselves.

Hardest YABU I’ve ever given. I want dangerous and violent criminals isolated from the public. I don’t want murderers, rapists, robbers, child molesters, arsonists etc. roaming about.

There's certainly an argument to be made regarding women in prison. We need to invest more in rehabilitation and keeping men out of prison.

Rehabilitation needs to be front and centre in the justice system but some people simply aren’t safe to be in public. Prison is the punishment/public protection but once in prison the focus should be on rehabilitation

I think there is an argument for more rehabilitation / restorative justice but that’s doesn’t work for all offenders or all types of offences.
