I was washing my hands at my mums, a bit of water went on the stainless steel bit where the pots dry. She got annoyed saying she’d spent time doing it today. It was only a bit of water. So threw. A piece of cutlery at my hands whilst they were still under the tap and said I was selfish. Haven’t done anything wrong I don’t feel

but then nothing excuses provocation either

This was not provocation.

Not to anyone sane and reasonable.

Her mother is not sane or reasonable, and I'll leave you to draw conclusions re. a person who believes the mother is sane or reasonable.

When you are alone in your opinions ...... You need to wonder why. It's probably not because you are superior to everyone else.

You feel sorry for all the posters who disagree with you, what do you think we feel for you.

Hit a nerve have I?

A sink has taps, used to dispense water, is that correct? Is it by nature going to get wet?

Soup tureens on the other hand….

Likewise, one doesn't have to walk across a floor in muddy boots, one can remove the boots

One can't use a sink for ots purpose without getting it wet. And it's very likely to get wet in indirect places too.

And again, getting a sink wet doesn't dirty it

But all this is crazy BS of the highest order.

I think we need to stop indulging this poster.

Justalittlehandhold · 10/02/2025 18:27

She strikes me as someone who is never wrong…… even when everyone says she is!

Oh thank you. If I don't know something, I keep my mouth shut.

Bambiisasillybilly · 10/02/2025 18:42

Lou989 · 07/02/2025 17:34

She’s trying to play it down saying she meant to throw it in the sink but that’s not true as she threw it directly at my hand and she knew my hand was there

Don't return I would go low contact. You deserve to be treated better.

Justalittlehandhold · 10/02/2025 18:42

llizzie · 10/02/2025 18:41

Have you indeed! did it make the floor cleaner to throw something at them? My children had horses, and believe me, you wouldn't want straw and pony nuts dropping off their clothes every time they came in, and I bet you don't know what a muddy field is.

Once you lose your temper you lose any dignity you may have had. Life is too short. I have almost lost mine too many times to throw it all away in a huff.

You lose an argument too, once you resort to insults.

Nothing excuses violence, but then nothing excuses provocation either, does it?

Now why aren’t I surprised you lose your temper often 🤔!

llizzie · 10/02/2025 18:41

Justalittlehandhold · 10/02/2025 18:22

Yep and I’ve never thrown objects at my children for walking across them in muddy boots……

You clearly would lose your shit at that, like it can’t be rectified.

You’re someone who excuses physical violence, because of droplets of water or a bit of mud.

llizzie · 10/02/2025 18:36

and I think you are wrong. There are too many people in the world who judge too quickly.

Violence is always wrong, but so is provocation, and when two people have known each other for 32 years, one doesn't turn on the other for nothing.

And I think you’re

An abuser yourself, you’re divorced and I’m guessing this could’ve been part of it. I mean reading between the lines, as you have that is probably the cause. You condone violence for not even minor misdemeanours, but complete non issues.

You argue incessantly, no matter what is said and justified to you.

So, I’ll bid you farewell and I’m off to wash my hands lavishly in the sink, splashing water everywhere, then cooking dinner and dirtying the hob, all that my DH cleaned today! I hope he’s aim at throwing knives at me is not good today!

StrawberryDream24 · 10/02/2025 18:36

Lizzie - kindly, you're coming across as someone who should get off online forums.

llizzie · 10/02/2025 18:36

Or all three!

When have I ever said violence is justified? Nowhere have I said that.

I am trying to look at the situation from both sides, rather than accept one side only. I want to know why a DM would attack her DD over this issue and wonder what provoked her.

I think you know it’s because the mother is a violent abuser, surely?

Justalittlehandhold · 10/02/2025 18:34

llizzie · 10/02/2025 18:33

Unnecessarily silly comment.

You're not going to find that out by insulting the OP and saying they're both "as bad as each other".

If you don't understand domestic abuse, there are plenty of places for you to learn.

llizzie · 10/02/2025 18:33

Justalittlehandhold · 10/02/2025 18:14

Getting a sink wet is not wrong, it’s kinda like what it’s made for. That’s the reason it has taps.

If she’d wash her hands in the soup tureen you may have a slight point, but still no reason for physical violence.

Unnecessarily silly comment.

MagicalMystical · 10/02/2025 18:32

Your mum needs professional help for overwhelm/stress/whatever is going on in her organism and you need to know it’s not ok for her to physically (or for that matter verbally) abuse you.

llizzie · 10/02/2025 18:32

Justalittlehandhold · 10/02/2025 18:12

Perhaps it wasn’t the last straw and she’s nasty and physically abusive.

you have condoned violence by saying it was justified, because the shiny sink got wet.

Dotto · 10/02/2025 18:31

*Knife. When you throw a knife at someone, people need not turn themselves inside out wondering how it could have possibly been the victim's fault.

Justalittlehandhold · 10/02/2025 18:30

llizzie · 10/02/2025 18:28

I didn't expect you to agree with me. Why would you?

I said I just like to see both sides of an argument. I think there is more to it than is stated in the post.

A woman gets angry and without any provocation or cause, throws a fork at her DD and doesn't miss. It causes an injury resembling a burn.

The DM had hit the OP once before, so immediately she must be menopausal, crazy, need locking up, prosecuting, you name it, posters have recommended it.

She should be arrested and prosecuted. She is like a dangerous animal and should be contained somewhere safe and the OP can live in peace and safety.

If that is what you all think, fine. I just know that things are more complicated than that, and they don't just lock people up for throwing a fork.

You’re making up a story that suits your narrative, it was a knife and not a fork. You’re not trying to say that the injury isn’t caused by the knife.

Why not just scroll on by, if you think it’s not real?

llizzie · 10/02/2025 18:28

Dotto · 10/02/2025 18:05

Yes we've all read what you have written, dear. Not a single person agrees with you, so I'm not sure why you're continuing to post the same misinformed nonsense over and over.

@llizzie your repeated assertions that OP deliberately tried to annoy or provoke her mother by washing her hands are getting ridiculous. Where are you getting this from?
OP clearly states that it was only after she'd washed her hands that her mother screamed about washing the sink.

She strikes me as someone who is never wrong…… even when everyone says she is!

You need to read more carefully before you judge.

There isn't a lot of difference in that and walking across a clean floor in muddy wellies. After all, a floor is for walking on, isn't it?

llizzie · 10/02/2025 18:21

Justalittlehandhold · 10/02/2025 17:38

You actually think getting a sink wet is provocation? It’s not like she threw paint up the wall.

You need to have a serious word with yourself, because if you think those two things are equal!

You need to read more carefully before you judge.

Think about your comment. The mother is wrong to have done what she did. We do not know if there are any mitigating circumstances.

She should report her mother to the police. They may well prosecute her.

I think there is more to it, that's all.
