Yes the wretched Italian chef - not giving his name credence. https://www.itv.com/watch/news/the-latest-headlines-multiple-claims-of-inappropriate-behaviour-against-gino-dacampo/5wr9dh3

Hiding in plain sight.

There are others, I switch over on another popular "star" because of what he did to me and others when we were young.

AIBU to find this exhausting

In 1998, D'Acampo was convicted of burgling singer Paul Young's London home, and served two years in prison. D'Acampo has apologised to Young, who accepted and suggested that D'Acampo could invite him to dinner in his restaurant.[26]

that is awful

Edited

Yes, I read a more recent article where Paul talks about how he’s lost recordings of his wife’s voice that he’ll never be able to hear again. Reminder that the crime doesn’t just happen at the time, that the impact to the victim goes on and on.

He robbed Paul Young and destroyed irreplaceable music and photos of his wife. He got 2 years for it. He's scum, total scum.

Not just entertainment but hospitality as well is utterly rife with SA from men and women so it was almost a given that someone like him would be. If they didn't touch you up they screamed the place down if you breathed near them, you need a rhino hide to survive.

That entertainers who worked in hospitality can't keep their wretched hands to themselves is absolutely no surprise.

Yep.

I started waitressing at 15 in an upmarket restaurant and was getting passes made to me by chefs in their 30’s

JandamiHash · 06/02/2025 19:24

I once met Gino at a food event and he stuck his hand up my skirt. So pleased it’s coming to light now that hat he’s like

Zebedee999 · 06/02/2025 19:21

I find him very funny but have never liked him due to his burglary conviction. Yeah I know you're supposed to forgive but I've been burgled and lost sentimental irreplaceable stuff. I couldn't see past his conviction as that tells me all I need to know about him.

safetyfreak · 06/02/2025 19:20

Biggest surprise...NOT, this guy a convicted criminal and he gives creep vibes.

Never liked him.

This I absolutely agree with, Ah the rampant chefs with their sexy personas.

this is click bait
why on earth didnt you put his name

It's literally in the link anyway!

There's been rumours before. He comes across as creepy and misogynistic. Not surprised either.

Yes, another "beloved" presenter who is yet to be outed. I don't particularly want to be sued.

Obviously up to you - but it's highly unlikely you would have been the only person to have been on the receiving end of his predatory behaviour. So there would be no way of you being identified unless you gave specific details that made it impossible to be anybody else - and, sadly, he even remembers which one you were.

I have a feeling he will get out of any accusations unscathed because he can blame it on a 'cheeky' persona.

AlertBrickBear · 06/02/2025 19:08

But I thought he was meant to be such a good guy, and that we shouldn’t judge him for being a convicted burglar.

Samcro · 06/02/2025 19:08

He is hardly a beloved presenter.
also it’s no secret as it was on the news

Pebbles16 · 06/02/2025 19:07

I don't want to derail the thread by the un-named person.
I would rather a discussion on the horror of the large percentage of "men in power" abusing their position.
Mea culpa, I shouldn't have mentioned it, it just brought back a whole host of unhelpful thoughts.

Don't you only get sued for slander if it's not true?

No but they talked about it on a show after. Seems Gordon was pretty comfortable with him!

Oh wow, didn't see that

Fair enough then

In the bits I saw of it, it seemed like he was being cautious about how he came across

MugsyBalonz · 06/02/2025 18:57

The fact it seems to be endemic in the entertainment industry suggests that these men are abusing positions of power and exploiting the dynamics of being "the star" with all the bargaining power that entails. It also suggests that production companies, bosses, management teams are failing to safeguard other employees, particularly those in more junior positions, and are failing to act on allegations. These cases always follow the same MO of the "star" being untouchable, allegations being ignored or downplayed, and the abuse being an open secret. It needs to change but it seems like none of them possess the will to make it change.

ColinOfficeTrolley · 06/02/2025 18:56

Not surprised in the least. He is a cocky, horrid little turd.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 06/02/2025 18:56
