From what I’ve heard with the current drama surrounding her I’m shocked. Did anyone’s opinions of her change?

ps this isn’t a bashing thread

There’s so much of it!
it’s fascinating and cringey how the director is literally massaging his leading actresses ego all the way.
so much sucking up!
its a weird dynamic.
hollywood eh?!

Thought she was a cute girl, average actress. Was very empathetic when I heard she's been treated badly by Justin whatshisface.

U-turn when I saw the video clips and messages exchanged. She's a bitch. I tend to root for the women but in this case I feel sorry for the man.

Where are the video clips and messages

Oh but to answer question, I was shocked watching a video where she said “I like your bump (too)” in response to the Journalist commenting on BL’s baby bump.

Also thought the Baldoni tests were next level full of themselves but not just BL and her fire breathing and pet Taylor swift dragon, but all of them, even Ryan. I had no idea Hollywood people carry on and talk such utter nonsense. They really were just all massaging each others but holes by text and now they’re clogging up the courts with it.

Where can we see the text messages?

DeeDeeFuzzbot · 06/02/2025 19:07

I think so too.
Nothing is black and white.
I also think once one of them went public, the other really had no choice.
The genie was out of the bottle.

Collette78 · 06/02/2025 18:08

I think they should have settled it privately in court. This press coverage and leaks to the media etc doesn’t do either of them any good in my opinion.

They each will have a side of the story to tell and somewhere in the middle is the truth.

DeeDeeFuzzbot · 06/02/2025 17:52

What do I think of Blake Lively?
Goodness.
Not too much until It Ends With Us started promotion.
I just knew her as someone married to a more famous actor. I felt kinda vanilla about her acting in the one film I saw.
Then, I saw the video interview released by Swedish journalist Kjersty Flaa, where she congratulated BL’s “Little (baby) bump”.

Which was less of a comment on BL’s female body (as suggested on a previous post) and more of a celebration on Blake’s growing a little human being.
BL then congratulated Flaa on “her little bump”. Note: Flaa has issues with fertility and it is pretty clear she was not pregnant herself. Nor can she ever be.
Bad look complaining when you have announced you are pregnant and people congratulate you.
Then BL insinuated Kjersty was sexist when she asked her question about clothes.
The film had a first class wardrobe by all accounts. Woody Allen really wanted an authentic look.
And with her fellow co star BL, hijacked the remainder of the interview with simply awful behaviour. Check it out yourself. It’s pretty short but brutal. BL Woman bashing basically.

people start wondering…is there more of this behaviour….hmmmm?
Thats how you start to get a “bad name” huh?

The promotion of the current film was a little tone deaf which a lot of people noted, promoting hair care business and alcohol business. alcohol and DV ?!!!
BL was Segregated from or by his costars in the promo and in the premier. While appearing to be addressing the serious message of the film and praising BL.

It all looked really odd.

I thought she came across as lightweight, self centred and literally self promoting and , well preening. Not a crime mind you.
He. More serious and responsible. And focused on victims of DV.

then
BL files a lawsuit AND publishes her accusations in the NY Times for all to see.
Baldoni looked real bad and I felt bad for Lively.
Poor lass.
He’s disgusting if that is all true!

But since then…
Accusations have been refuted with footage and full messages (not the edited versions BL put out).
IF you take JB’s timeline and all the receipts as presented truthfully and not edited
(Jeeze there’s a lot of them)
you can see how the reasons for all the promo confusion came from BL’s actions and deliberate choices to insert herself into areas of the movie she
A) was not hired to do
and B) other people were already hired to do.

Plus, she ordered that Baldoni not be present. Despite his requests to be included.
So she added to the online speculation about the very real bad blood all by herself.

BL did not hand over a list of grievances mid filming, they were demands.
Which is an interesting distinction. I can easily agree to demands if they had never happened and would never happen, right? To keep the movie going? If the “talent” is refusing to return to a half shot film?
I keep that in mind.

Then those demands were used as leverage to gain access to editing and producer credits. JB’s edit of the film canned. They used BL’s! She shows her own edit early against the wishes of SONY.
After taking over costume department.
After rewriting scenes. With her husband. Without the script departments knowledge! In a writers strike! Eeesh!
Freaking out Sony.
Removing the original composer annd his completed score and replacing him with the composer on her husband’s film. Asking the new composer to complete in 1 week. To rescore a whole movie! (He managed to squeeze it into a month.)
Replacing Marketing/promotions with her husbands company. Haircare and booze anyone?! Flower arranging and cookie baking with the cast?
All of the above at the studios cost (not her own).
The film went over budget.

BL say JB’s team tried to slur her online. But what I saw came out of her own mouth. And Kjersty Flaa has gone on the record with her own reasons for releasing her video that had nothing to do with a director she says she never took payment from or even met?!

There’ll be an “electronic” paper trail to prove or disprove all the orchestrated online smear campaign accusations. Which we haven’t seen yet.
the smoking gun email, turned out to be edited which spurred the mega release of unedited footage, email, voice mail and texts messages.
we’ve never seen such raw information dropped like this before a law suit.

What we do have - right now - are the facts of who did what job on the film and who got what credits. They show that JB was squeezed out of the film.
The guy has been slurred IF it is proven he didn’t S harass BL. Then the motive for all this action will be quite clear. Theft.
if he did. BL was a victim and she wanted to annihilate the man who did this to her in the name of justice and vengeance.
There will be more facts for sure.
They always affect my opinion of a person I don’t know.
i dislike liars, predators, bullies and thieves.

Someone is lying or deluded. Will make for a fascinating psychological profile later.

This trial by media is awful.
It’s my (not) secret vice this whole thing. Shhhhhh!
dont tell!

dottiehens · 06/02/2025 16:54

I do not have an opinion but never got the joke about Kate Middleton. BL and her husband always seem to apologise very quickly so a product of this bullshit times. Therefore, they must be having a dreadful time.

When she was promoting It Ends with Us, I was extremely frustrated, but I don’t know if that frustration is fair to her or if she was acting on studio instructions.

I saw the trailer for the movie and something felt off about it. It looked like a rom-com. It was advertised as a rom-com. The title didn’t match and I just had this nagging feeling. I had also read one book by the author and it was incredibly, wonderfully dark. I knew what I was getting into with the book.

I looked up the movie and that is when I found out it was about domestic abuse. As a survivor, If I had gone into a movie expecting a rom-com and ended up with that instead, I would have been a mess. the marketing for that movie was offensive.

so if Blake lively drove the marketing for that movie, then she is awful. If she capitulated to a powerful studio and met her contractual obligations to toe the company line, then I understand being in a difficult position. I don’t really have enough information to divine the truth.

as for the dispute between Lively and Baldoni, he certainly comes across the better of the two. He marketed the film as a film about domestic violence. He presented himself as a serious artist addressing a serious subject. Was it all PR? Entirely possible.

neither of these people is doing themselves any favors by continuing this dispute. Both Lively and Baldoni will probably be considered toxic in Hollywood. Neither of them is talented enough or a big enough box office draw to be able to get through this.

The real question is how much damage is Ryan Reynolds going to take in the process. He isn’t invincible. If I were his advisor and would have told him to nip this thing in the bud with a quiet settlement months ago.

Actors don’t “drive” publicity for movies. That’s the job of the marketing teams/ media planners. They prepare the budget, identify the audience, identify cultural nuances in different countries, plan the schedule etc, create the vision for the ad campaigns, posters, trailers etc. They tell the actors when to show up at what talk show and which interview and which press junket to promote the movie. She may have requested to promote her own brands at the same time, tho it’s possible she was asked if she wanted to to draw in her fan base.

Marinade · 05/02/2025 19:40

She did not sign her contract and had considerable leverage over the production of the film as a result. She threatened not to do the marketing if she did not get her way with the editing, knowing full well that she would not be in breach of contract. She played everyone like a fiddle and thought she would get away with it. Her behaviour was callous, duplicitous and morally bereft.

Other than not being a good actress, I do think she's hot,

I think it’s important to remember that the reporter was not speaking in her first language when she congratulated BL on her ‘little bump’. I agree it was slightly jarring because it’s a comment on her body, and it would have been better to say “congratulations on your pregnancy/ news”. I do think BL was rude to her though.

It seems like a PR war more than anything else. It does seem that she used her higher status to bully him into doing things her way. Re sexual harrassment, he does seem to have a lot of receipts but we don’t know everything yet I’m sure. The Taylor Swift dragon thing was quite cringy, I would be raging if I was her!

Whatever her star power an actress under legal contract does not have the power that posters here are implying. JB is the director as well as lead actor and co-chair of the studio with his mate and billionaire studio owner Steve Sarowitz, he’s also close friends with Jamie Heath the producer. That is a powerful trio. Which I think is why BL cringily referenced Khaleesi’s dragons as she knows she’s outgunned.

If she were in control she would not be bounced into scenes where JB is kissing her unscripted and she’s trying to talk him out of it on camera.

Where her status does comes into play, however, is getting hold of the rushes and paying for her own edit, which Sony then chose over the alternative.

But power wars on film sets - rewrites, arguments over edits, with sexual harassment thrown in - is par for the course in Hollywood.

hjfoau · 05/02/2025 19:28

He lost his case against the Sun - there was no discovery of evidence against Amber as she was not a party to the case. This was the critical factor to his win in the USA as all the pertinent evidence showing Amber's lies were presented to the jury who found her to be a malicious liar by virtue of their verdict. Unfortunately the Sun relied on Amber's lies with their salacious and untrue story which now Dan Wooten (the reporter) has apologised for.

You are aware that Amber was arrested in an airport years earlier for assaulting her then wife, Tasya Von Rees? And she accused the police officer of being prejudiced against a lesbian couple - unfortunately for her, the police officer was a lesbian herself... She saw Amber assault Tasya, this is a fact. Amber is an abuser.

The Sun relied on her lies and even the judgement portrays such a lie - that she donated her divorce settlement to charity as evidence of her moral character. As was concluded in the US trial, she did not donate her settlement and it showed her to be the massive liar she is.

Please do not perpetuate mistruths about Amber Heard and seek to present her and Blake Lively as victims. It is a gross misrepresentation.

He said he head butted her accidentally whilst restraining her. I would not place much stall on the texts between him and Paul Bettany - this was a man that had been put through hell and it was an exchange full of hyperbole, someone who had been beaten down mentally and physically. Was it pleasant - no - but it is not evidence of physical abuse.

Whereas he was admitted to hospital with a severe finger injury due to Amber's violence when she threw a bottle at him. There are pictures of their honeymoon where he has a swollen eye which he claimed was due to her abuse. He referred to himself as having a 'monster' inside him when he drank but this never translated to physical violence despite what the text says.

She doctored images for the trial, and his expert said that the metadata was so scrambled the images could not be relied on. The police officers who arrived at their flat after she said he had thrown a phone at her found no evidence of abuse. But the next day she appeared with a bruise (no swelling) on her face? The people at the building where she lived also testified that there was no injury to her face.

She is a manipulative liar.

You did a disservice to yourself calling me a "strange pumpkin".

Patronising other women and calling them names does take away the intelligence of your counter argument.

I recommend listening to the podcast Trolling Amber Heard, and keep in mind he lost his case in the UK when it was presented to judges. Yet he won in the US in front of jurors who had been inundated with his PR smear campaign. Those are relevant details, regardless of what you believe.

Do I think she was 100% innocent? No. But abused women in a massively power imbalanced relationship often act in ways people wouldnt like.

Edit: I would also like to reference some of the things that in my opinion show Depp's character.

His text exchanges with actor Paul Bettany about harming Heard, including a message where Depp wrote, "Let's drown her before we burn her!!!"

He admitted to headbutting her, this is recorded.

Another text message, for good measure. This is how he chatted to friends about a woman.

"I, of course, pounded and displayed ugly colors to Amber on a recent journey." He continued, "I am an insane person and not so fair-headed after too much of the drink."

Edited

So Amber's own admissions on a recorded tape that 'she did start a physical fight' and that Johnny should grow up and stop being such a baby when she was meting out her abuse were not relevant to the jury's deliberations?

The fact that she said she appeared on the James Corden show with a broken nose and black eyes and there is no evidence of this in the stills:

https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-10789317/Amber-Heard-said-use-super-heavy-makeup-hide-wounds-James-Corden-show.html

The fact that she said he raped her with a broken bottle but had no signs of injuries and did not visit the hospital?

But Johnny did have to vist the hospital when she cut off his finger by throwing a bottle at him?

What a strange pumpkin you are to disregard these facts.

This. Exactly this.

For someone who has spent his whole career performing like a seal about his feminism, he sure likes to surround himself with some pretty despicable representatives.

The smear campaign that they unleashed on Blake is exactly what happened to Amber Heard and is such a common tactic of abusers. Discredit the victim so no one believes their story.

Amber Heard 'used heavy makeup to hide wounds on James Corden show'

Heard said she thought she was going to die when Depp headbutted and tried to suffocate her in December 2015, the night before her appearance on the James Corden show.

All I seem to see about her everywhere is negative views, painting her as mean, rude etc, which actually makes me quite suspicious! It feels like a smear campaign and I wonder if the words used to describe her would be used for a man using the same behaviours. I obviously don’t know her though so she might well be awful.

YouDeserveBetterSoAskForIt · 05/02/2025 18:04

ColinOfficeTrolley · 05/02/2025 13:31

I don't and have never really thought anything of her. Used to like Gossip Girl back in the day, but beyond that, nothing.

I do believe some of the facts though

  1. Upon returning to filming after the writers strike, Justin Baldoni and his production company, signed a document that basically said there would be no MORE sexual harassment, acknowledging that there had been unacceptable behaviour in the past.
  1. JB hired the same company that Johnny Depp hired to trash amber herd, to start a smear campaign against her.
  1. JB has hired a lawyer who got a minor to settle out of court after being involved in a gang rape when he was a frat boy.

This. Exactly this.
