I envisage many in the 45 to 65 age group- mid height, a bit overweight but not enormous , mid length grown out bobs, professional jobs , but not 6 figures, married twice , like nice food, wine and a good book and holiday -politics varies depending on the subject . Lots of teachers, social workers, middle managers in commerce

we don’t know what she looks like because no one ever sees her. She hides behind the sofa sobbing and shaking all day, traumatised that someone rang the doorbell without giving written notice six months in advance.

Claims to earn six figures in a Very Important Job with management responsibilities but needs to ask Mumsnet how to do everything from fire an employee to boil an egg.

Always has to show her “DH” the thread, because she’s incapable of forming her own opinions or making decisions, despite afore-mentioned Very Important Job, with 6-figure salary.

Has a 6ft 4 husband, a hollow-legged rugby-playing teen son who is also over 6 ft, and a beautiful, willowy artistic daughter. Her children eat 67 punnets of berries every three minutes but she still only spends £2.87 a month on groceries at Waitrose. Cooks everything from scratch. Never heard of Eastenders. Goes to France in drapey cashmere pashminas in business class when she gets time off from her Very Important Job with a 6-figure salary.

Has an Aga that she “curls up next too” with her monthly allowance of chocolate - one square of “high quality dark chocolate”. Can’t possibly bear the thought of gaining a single ounce because her husband might start watching porn.

Oh, and did I mention she has a Very Important Job with a 6-figure salary?

But can’t figure out how much wine to take on a 7-day holiday.

Edited

Honest to God, this cracked me up so much I read it twice, and it still made me laugh just as much the second time! 🤣👏👏👏

with a (possibly) dishonest cleaner

FatAgain · 01/02/2025 23:41

Fat brunette with tats and a deepening hatred of the patriarchy.

I am possibly projecting.

lilytuckerpritchet · 01/02/2025 23:37

Business women, earns triple figures. Goes to the gym five times a week, juggles house 2 kids and useless dh who thinks himself to be god. Not many friends but a couple. Close to parents, hates mil.

Oblomov25 · 01/02/2025 23:33

And when I went to the London meet-ups for the Christmas party's, donkeys years ago, we were all so different. So glam. We scrub up well!

Oblomov25 · 01/02/2025 23:32

No such thing. Very varied, because threads on height, weight, how attractive you are, the clothes you wear, vary a lot. Then, some posters post a picture of their hairstyle, eyebrows, dress. And I am always surprised! Always!

Thegoatliesdownonbroadway · 01/02/2025 23:17

a gay son who is at Cambridge and on course for a first

Thegoatliesdownonbroadway · 01/02/2025 23:16

and a gay son

Guavafish1 · 01/02/2025 23:15

And men who normally uses prostitute websites

GingerLiberalFeminist · 01/02/2025 23:13

I should add, I reckon they all live in massive homes with a spare bedroom ensuite, a garden office, a rose garden and good china. With enough income plus successful hubby (although the number of disastrous relationship posts would indicate something different!)

Guavafish1 · 01/02/2025 23:13

Karen … white middle class privileged

TheOddSocks · 01/02/2025 23:11

I've met about 30 women in person I met through MN so no as we were all totally different.

MelisandeLongfield · 01/02/2025 23:08

Slim but pear body type; dark, thick, shoulder length hair with a slight wave, aged about 40, country-casual type dresser, always a scarf round her neck.

(I look nothing like that0.

GingerLiberalFeminist · 01/02/2025 23:07

Female. 40 something. That straight but swishy hair to the shoulders, highlighted professionally. Big eyes. Prominant cheekbones. Skinny upper arms and thighs. Shaped brows and neutral lippy. Size 10-12. 5'6". Wears those shift dresses with a notch at the top and sensible heels.

I, on the other hand, have wavy auburn hair in a bob because too long and it looks like a nest, home highlighted, chubby cheeks, fat thighs and arms and am a 14-16, my brows never get done and I dress in skinny jeans and baggy jumpers!

theykilledcassandrafirst · 01/02/2025 23:02

40s, tall and slim, sensible highlighted bob hairstyle.
Boring, sensible, fairly expensive clothes. Homeowner, quite well off.
Married with kids.

Busybody, eminently sensible, neurotic, very strait laced, got her shit together, always knows what to do in any situation.

Bit of a snob and a MC bore.

TheMarzipanDildo · 01/02/2025 22:43

Is that what you’re like then?

The question wasn’t what you look like , but what you think a typical mumsnetter looks like .

Shodan · 01/02/2025 22:57

There are three types:

a) A curly grey-haired woman with glasses, around 55, cigarette on the go and a whisky in a crystal tumbler. Has a razor sharp intelligence and a wicked sense of humour. Wears well-cut trousers and an oversized shirt. Has a least one dog, probably two. Would answer the door to strangers if she could be bothered, but she isn't.

b) Younger, swishy-haired blonde- around mid 30s. Successful in work and life, makes her own yoghurt, has gleaming surfaces throughout the house and wouldn't entertain the idea of a dog. May own a pedigree white-haired cat. Drives a Range Rover something-or-other OR a Mercedes. Whatever it is it'll likely be white, to match the cat. Will always answer the door.

c) A Man. Will be wearing a khaki jumper under a tweedy jacket with leather elbow patches. Will either ride a bicycle or play golf, possibly both. (not necessarily at the same time)

(Of course, then there's me, who is none of these things. I fondly imagine I am One Of A Kind, but am clearly delusional)

Thegoatliesdownonbroadway · 01/02/2025 22:54

Gen X mostly. Grey hair. BMI around 30. Either has a dog or detest dogs. Reads the Guardian, homeowner, shops Waitrose/MandS food. Went to UNI when it was free. Had sex with 2 or 3 men during lifetime. Drinks 2/3 glasses of wine per week. Once took a drag on a joint, didn't like it.

kiana2015 · 01/02/2025 22:52

Older, possibly late 40/50. Blonde short hair (think typical Karen) glasses. Lives in a very big home

creamsnugjumper · 01/02/2025 22:51

Chestnut hair, pretty face just started fat loss drugs so excited to be slimmer post baby size again. Positive outlook and friendly about 55.

3 older teenagers, a bit Sarah beeny like, outdoor type practical and feisty.

Great family, lots of dogs of the lab variety and happy in her own skin.

Wish's her DH would appreciate her a bit more and he's a bit of wet blanket.

Oh she's all a high earner in her past in finance and London but now doesn't have to work as much and enjoys life.

TheMarzipanDildo · 01/02/2025 22:48

That’s what I don’t get about these threads, some posters are so sneery, yet they’re here too!

I know - they just think they're better than the "average" Mumsnetter!

Pumpkincozynights · 01/02/2025 22:50

40 years old slim, with 2 children.
Blond hair in a bob. Usually wears jeans and an expensive jumper with flat shoes.
Lives in the south and owns an expensive town house which is very old.
The house is full of old furniture, most of it passed down from her parents or in-laws.
Either earns a good salary or is a sham and her dh earns a good salary.
Her dh spends a lot of time doing his hobby which makes her resentful.

TheMarzipanDildo · 01/02/2025 22:48

LeticiaMorales · 01/02/2025 22:45

Is that a description of yourself, you're a Mumsnetter?
