Would you go ahead with birthday party today ? DD vomited

It's my DD 5th bday party today.

Huge party- 30 kids. It's at a venue with entertainers etc.

Last night she threw up at around 6pm and then again at 10pm. No fever and has been sleeping soundly since.

Would you cancel the party ?

I'm thinking to see how the morning goes, as the party isn't until 2 and then, go from there.

So again, why you posting on here if you know your child is sick because of something she eat and your guests still want to attend?

I think this is a wind up.

Begby6789 · 01/02/2025 06:29

Let the party go ahead, keep your daughter at home

Calmhappyandhealthy · 01/02/2025 06:28

Why post ? I have my own reasons, which I don't need to share

You have secret reasons for posting about your child vomiting?

My dd vomited profusely one evening age 3.
Found out that Dm had given her ice cream plus fresh cream x 2.
She was fine next day.

It happens. It's happened to my DD before too.

Especially after eating at a restaurant.

She was sick twice, 4 hours apart, hours after eating her lunch. Please don’t infect her whole class with a sickness bug.

But seeing as you’re so set in your ways, at least tell everyone who’s invited the truth so they can skip the party. And by truth I mean ‘DD was sick twice in the night’ not ‘DD had a large lunch and was sick afterwards’

Even the smallest bug would hospitalise my daughter and wipe her out for 1-2weeks.

When all the kids vomit 18-24 hours after your party, and your daughter innocently pitches up to tell them all that she was sick before her party, your name will be mud. 😂

Dreammouse · 01/02/2025 06:26

Some children are only sick once or twice with a bug. Honestly I wonder whether people like you are just stupid or selfish (or hoth), but either way of course you should cancel.

Slobberchops1 · 01/02/2025 06:25

This reminds me of professor Quirrell in the philosophers stone - you know the bit where he runs into the great hall shouting “ troooioollll in the dungeon , thought you ought to know “

It’s not normal to throw up in the evening because of a big meal, no. Especially not twice. It sounds like you’re going to go ahead with the party anyway. Just make sure you tell people in advance so they can choose to come or not, and hope no one gets seriously ill.

She won't tell them, the party will look crap in her Instagram pictures if nobody turns up...

Cappuccinowithonesugarplease · 01/02/2025 06:25

Sorry op but it sounds like your in denial.
Is it possible to postpone the party by a week or 2?

ThejoyofNC · 01/02/2025 06:24

cameheredor · 01/02/2025 06:22

Something she ate didn't agree with her.

If she is ill again, then I will cancel. Let's see.

No you won't. It's pretty clear you value your "huge party" as more important than the health of 30+ families.

Children don't vomit twice from lunch and a cupcake.

You are so selfish.

Oh dear. She had a big lunch that sat in her stomach ( from a restaurant ) cupcake after.

I think that's the cause, not a bug.

Why are you asking then?
Vomiting twice just cause you had a big lunch and a cupcake isn't normal but you do you

CallMeDaphne · 01/02/2025 06:23

Well, I suppose when she pukes up over the other kids at the party, at least you will have a great anecdote for the future.

Megaaan23 · 01/02/2025 06:23

My nephew vomited twice last week, I visited him a couple days later as planned, 12 hours later myself, DH and PIL all had D&V and it floored me for 3-4 days.
My colleagues with children have also said their LO’s class sizes have been halved the past couple weeks due to a bug going around. I would cancel personally, I’m sure everyone would rather have plans rearranged than deal with a stomach bug for days.

Is it normal for a 5yo to vomit because of a big meal?
DS has never been particularly sicky, but I can’t imagine it is.

Please tell anyone who might be coming about the vomiting at the very least. You have no idea who is immunocompromised in the lives of the children who are attending. Please at least have a bit of a sense of responsibility if you're not doing to do what you should and cancel.

This.

If you’re going to go ahead then you at least let everyone know that she’s been sick and they can make their own judgement.

BarbieGirlInABarbieWorld · 01/02/2025 06:20

I mean, this is a wind up right?
No one would be so thoughtless to go ahead without AT LEAST letting the invitees know so they can make their own informed decision…

smileyplant · 01/02/2025 06:20

Absolutely cancel - don't be that family.

Strawberryorangejuice · 01/02/2025 06:20

yes, sorry op. I would cancel.

I have a child who always vomits with every illness. The rest of us won't - just her. It seems to be her body's way of dealing with infection or something. But I always keep her off as those are the rules.

cameheredor · 01/02/2025 06:19

MrsJamin · 01/02/2025 06:18

Yeah you don't vomit as a reaction to lunch at 10pm. Why go on AIBU if you've already made up your mind?

You can - if it's a late lunch and the first vomit didn't get everything out.

Why post ? I have my own reasons, which I don't need to share.
