Winning the Lottery

LottoWinner · 29/01/2025 17:01

I'm winning the double rollover tonight - got my ticket and feeling spectacularly lucky. Previous tickets I've hoped to win haven't come through, so I'm going into tonight with confidence and seeing if that makes a difference.

Planned out my winnings which covers the 5 mil ~ dream house purchase, enough to invest and draw on for a decent style of living for the rest of my life, helping family/friends clear their mortgages/debt. Buying a Birkin 😎

AIBU to ask what I'd be sending you with some of the rest? I have about £400,000 to play with, though want to spread it around a bit. Only overly indulgent gifts you'd never buy yourself but secretly really, really want are allowed.

The first time I got an email it said "Important News About your ticket" and I logged in shaking so much I could hardly type or remember my password to find it was £2.40 or something!! They seemed to stop that nonsense quite quickly, it was ridiculous!

User14March · 30/01/2025 19:39

@RosaMoline I heard an email says something about a ‘higher tier’ win.

RosaMoline · 30/01/2025 16:39

I woke up to an email on Wednesday morning telling me I’d won. Was £6.80.
I saw a thread on here that said it’s different wording on the email if you’ve won a significant amount.
The standard one (I had) is titled ‘good news! You’ve won a prize’
and then, of course, it’s just a couple of quid.
You can get palpitations if you receive an email that says: ‘we have exciting news about your ticket…’
Apparently!

Seems like I'm the only one who wants a Lamborghini! Black, with gull wing doors, like in The Cannonball Run film ❤️

Or a month off work unpaid 😀

There were 133 Lotto jackpot winners on Sat 14 Jan 95 - 16.2 million ish jackpot & all got 122k each.

16 Sept 95 8 jackpot winners shared 21 million getting about 2.6 each.

10 jackpot winners shared abt 9 million on 23 Sept getting approx 936k each.

18th Nov 1995 20 jackpot winners shared 8.5 million getting 425k each approx.

Jackpot won consistently 94-95 & shared by multiples.

User14March · 30/01/2025 12:37

I know of a syndicate who won the jackpot & 5 plus bonus around 1994. They had a system that meant the odds were massively in their favour & syndicate was big. Ten extra numbers were later added to prevent this sort of thing I think (?) There’s a USA movie on a similar theme.

Manifesting doesn't ever seem to work for me but congratulations in advance on your win op! You've had a lot of regrets so I won't be greedy
I'd just like a couple of hundred to be able to live a little please 😌 the cost of living is really piling up and I'm going without things to put my children first so just a couple of hundred please 🙏 🩷

Which National Lottery game has best odds?

Set for Life?
Thunderball?

They say avoid numbers 1-31 as calendar dates, birthdays, anniversaries etc. Any other tips?

Honestly no idea. But yes I'd assume the lower jackpots have slightly better odds!

Oh great so glad the plan is still on track OP thanks so much for confirming I'll let the builders know to hold off a couple of months

It will happen! Eventually 😂

Ooh can I please have a sofa bed for my front room so that I can have friends over to stay? You could also use it to crash while you're touring the UK distributing gifts like a particularly glamorous Santa! I also want to know which Birkin you've chosen!

Sounds lovely! We'll get lots of squishy pillows too.

Here's my dream Birkin... https://www.vestiairecollective.com/women-bags/handbags/hermes/birkin-35/?productid=51276567&setLocale=4.en.GBP&authfee=false&utmmsource=google&utmmedium=cpc&utmmcampaign=21838701820&gadsource=1&gbraid=0AAAAADSZTnLp9xvlW-AP1IZKXe-4GTSFp&gclid=Cj0KCQiA4-y8BhC3ARIsAHmjCCFzoa2hpTJeMAX-CMjQx2xppOYswBzdfJaOftOZJHhk5c0d-PuI3f4aAiSDEALwwcB ~ could not spend that sort of ridiculous money on a plain bag 😂

A rabbit mansion for my pampered pets. Walk in encloser and shed with some heat so that I can sit out with them and not freeze. Pretty please 😇

Ohhh this sounds incredible! Hard yes to the rabbit mansion 😍

I won! A lucky dip for Saturday. For matching two numbers, which I didn’t know was a thing. Better than nothing I suppose.

Newname101 · 30/01/2025 09:44

Yay to keeping the dream alive

My (nowhere near driving age) DS would like a grey Audi A3 if that’s okay? Thanks

My (also nowhere near driving age) DS is also desperate for an Audi, maybe we get them matching ones? Plus a huge empty, padded car park to drive them in 😂

A pair of Siamese chocolate point kittens please, with blue eyes. One male and one female. I already have the names - Roman & Minnie Cats-evet (Rosemary’s Baby fan!)

SO FREAKING CUTE! Will definitely be involved in the personal delivery of those 🤞

New teeth, I'll bite whoever you want me to, wherever you want me to and dress up in novelty costumes while doing it, for the rest of your life.

I wouldn't hold your teeth hostage forever, but maybe you can come on the trip to intimidate @CleansUpButWouldPreferNotTo horrible neighbours into moving, and then we don't have to give them cash to do so!

Alright so update: We won! .... a free lucky dip for Saturday. Howeverrrr the jackpot for Saturday is £15 mil which ups our budget (I'll still be happy with the 5, so 10 to play with 😉)

Obviously leaning into this being some master plan to ensure my winning vibes cover everything on this thread as we're definitely over £400,000 now 😂

You know what, this is my best friends dream trip - not mine (sorry) ~ but if I give you a load of 'fun spending money' with strict instructions to spend it all maybe you could take her with you? She's pretty frugal and I know she will not buy all the cool cowboy stuff she finds and lusts over, and need someone to chaperone and make sure she comes away with the goods 😉

Perfect. Your friend is my friend 😁
