To think bums should be covered in a public pool?

I may be being unreasonable and I’m just old and out of touch… took my kids swimming today at our local public pool and there was a lady wearing one of those swimming costumes that is basically a thong at the back? I saw lots of them in the beach during the summer which I kind of understand as it helps you get a very high cut tan/eliminates tan lines but I felt a bit weird seeing one in an indoor pool? Not sure where boundaries lie…? Happy to be told IABU but wondered what others think?

I don’t like the look of them but not sure there’s a hygiene issue in pools.

Every part of every body in the pool is getting washed into the water, whatever swimwear is covering it!

I remember someone pointing out on a thread ages ago that swim nappies are just designed to hold a poo in place. If a baby pees it’s straight through into the water.

Period swimwear is also increasingly common.

Swimming pools are just pretty gross, it’s best not to think about it! 😅

Yes the ones we are talking about are the string thongs and not the small brief types. There is a world of difference. They look so sore.

Was it an actual thong though?? I haven't seen an actual thong in years on someone or for sale. Are you sure it wasn't just a high cut costume?? Did it actually sit in between the bum cheeks??

Yes, haven’t you seen the thong bikinis that are everywhere now? They are (not in some cases, unfortunately) very firmly between the bum cheeks.

Do you realise that you are not supposed to stay glued to your sunbed?! That you’re literally incapacitating yourself as you can’t even pick anything up. Those around you are feeling nauseous with your bum crack is out, because apparently everything else is uncomfortable ( I don’t believe that for an instant )

What happens to discharge?!
It’s just minging.

What are you on about glued to my sunbed? Also, my bum crack isn't out. Neither is my vuvla. There's actually quite a substantial amount of material at the back, it is much wider than a thong underwear. The front is as covered as a normal swimsuit, just slightly higher at the top of my leg which is what I find most comfortable about them (I don't care if you don't believe what I feel comfortable in on MY body!).

I think there's one person who's weird here, and it's not the person wearing a perfectly normal bikini but the one who's nauseous over a few inches of bumcheek and thinking about other people's discharge...

I couldn't give a fuck to be honest. I find them comfortable! As I said, I take approximately 7 steps and then I'm in the pool. Once I'm in the pool nobody can clearly see what bottoms I've got on!

Is it okay for men to do it? I've never seen anyone test that theory.

We should let them, it's just bum.cheeks.?

I also don’t sit on loos - ours at home, where I probably don’t swish the dettol as often as I could - at work, out in public, etc., with my arm. Whereas I do with my bum. Come on - we all know the bum isn’t particularly clean and whereas it’s all going in the pool anyway (and that’s what the chlorine is for), let’s not pretend bum skin doesn’t have a lot more bacterial culture on it than other parts of the body. And yes a thong is getting in there churning it all up right at the anus where there’s plenty of poo crumbs etc. so it can all work its way out into the pool 🤣 Plenty of people also have poor faecal hygiene, skin infections in the arse crack and so on. Lovely.

Pool water isn’t that clean anyway, but honestly, don’t tell me that the arse crack is just another bit of the body exactly like your arm. What a disingenuous load of rubbish! You’d be pretty horrified if John from accounts at work came over to your chair and sat on it with his bare bum, no? Rather less so if he brushed it with his hand or sat on it fully clothed. And we all know, as other posters have said, that you wouldn’t put a child in a thong bikini on the grounds that it was just an ordinary bit of body, no big deal. So please give up on the pretending that the bum (especially in the current porny culture of twerking and normalising anal sex) isn’t also to do with sex as much as bodily functions.

If doesn't bother me about the body germs, I just don't want to see it. It's too much body. And one day bikinis were too much as well.

How would you know, unless you've got all seeing buttocks

You presume I wear thong bikinis? No, I don't, but I have zero issue with people who do. When I'm at the pool, I'm supervising my DC, swimming, and minding my own business. Unlike you, who is apparently occupied with staring at the arses of strangers.

Some people are there with their KIDS, eh? First time we saw a young girl wearing one of these items my then 7 y o DD exclaimed loudly “that lady’s BUM is on show”. Are we all supposed to pretend we can’t see your arse when we can? Exactly why is it that you want to show your arse at the public pool anyway?

Where do you live? At 60, I have never seen a man in a UK public swimming pool wearing a thong.
Tbh, if I did I’d probably think they were dodgy.

When are they seeing my arse to do all this laughing and making faces? The walk from the changing room to the pool at my swimming pool is approximately 7 steps! I walk out, get in the pool and swim. I'm not doing laps walking around the pool before I get in to make sure everyone present has gotten a good view! More fool them if they are spending more time looking at and judging people rather than swimming after paying to attend the pool. Fuck em!

Good on that woman. Sounds like she felt good about her body and was enjoying watching her children without a single fuck given to anyone judging her.

Sounds to me like she gave a lot of fucks about what people thought 😂

You’re absolutely kidding yourself if you think they aren’t. They’re pretending not to notice but they’re making faces at each other behind your back 😆 Been in enough hotel pools with everyone else making faces to think it’s not going unnoticed!

Did you just say developed young girls " parade " around in front of their fathers?

Do you know how gross that sounds?

Does walking about in front of their father with their bum out sound better. I wouldn't dream of it 😳
