...murders.... that the reason these things happen is because people / immigrants are not being helped to integrate in our society and feel alienated. On Laura K show. Dear lord I'm sorry but that's ludicrous ... if I've misunderstood please help me out. Its really angered me !

She also made it clear she was speaking from her lived experience. Yet some people on here will still shout racist at her.

Oh bloody hell, someones 'lived experience', oh well then better not question or challenge it at all.

You think Badenoch would be sued? By whom? She’s using the death of three little girls to stir up racial hatred for political advantage. I couldn’t despise her more.

Why would she want to that that? She is a second generation immigrant? Maybe she has more insight than we do.

And just to be clear, are you seriously calling a Black woman racist?

"I can spot racism a mile off".....

Yes she is racist. Any more questions?

I was responding to someone who said that Kemi was racist for raising a difficult subject. This poster can apparently "spot racism a mile off".

I would like to know how Kemi speaking about immigration is racist?

@username299 I beg to differ. There have been several acts of terrorism by incels who don't seem to do much but read misogyny online. They're renowned for being social misfits. From what I've read about mass shooters, they're often bullied and isolated.

Lots of people are socially isolated, but yet incel attacks are extremely rare. It also needs to be emphasised that the Southport killings were completely different from any incel attack. In incel attacks, there is a clear motive and a defined target- for example, Elliot Rodger planned to attack a sorority which had the most attractive women. Rudakubana had a history of violence with no clear motive, and no reason for attacking the people he did.

Second, while a loner or misfit can be dangerous, there are many extremely dangerous people who are sociable and charming. Many psychopaths and sociopaths appear to be very charming at first.

If you need evidence of how dangerous sociable and charming people can be, just go and read the "Relationships" board on this website.

Is the suggestion that a black woman cannot be racist ?

Is that in and of itself racist ?

I think people, the judge, politicians, are trying to present the narrative that his autism had nothing to do with it. I think thats unhelpful and disingenuous . Its very likely that without that disorder his difficulties may have manifest in a different way, or not raised so much risk.

Tbh I find this unhelpful. This is just speculation

DID YOU READ THE BIT ABOUT MY MOTHER NOT BEING BORN HERE?

I have not misunderstood anything. I can spot racism a mile off.

Where you are born does not predict your social or political views, and does not make you a murderer. Nor does it make you more or less "integrated". Only an idiot thinks there is such a thing as a defining British-ness that people may or may not measure up to, regardless of where you are born. Am I integrated? Are you? There is no bloody measure of this and only the simple-minded, wherever they are born, could think so.

There is not a shred of evidence that these murders were committed because Axel was born here, or not born here. Attempting to link a truly horrendous crime to the unrelated issue of immigration is hypocritical rubbish. Kemi Badenoch may represent your "Britishness". She does not represent mine.

A clear solution would be all the English that have taken over living in and ruining other countries come back here and all immigrants go back to their hone countries.

We are currently trying to get the swarm of English out of Spain, including tourists, they bring their backwards attitudes and behaviour and have no respect for the country. Everyone should stay in their own countries and not syphon off other countries either (but England would survive without stealing )

Aww, you really think you did something there.

You're advocating remigration?

It doesn’t matter how much you try and deflect by using individual examples as being unreasonable, the fact is that immigration is out of control. It’s too high and it’s bad for this country.

Trying to piss about around the edges with ‘yeah but, no but’ isn’t going to change the fact that it’s a huge problem.

The Southport murders and immigration are two entirely separate issues.

I find it very worrying that people are continuously attempting to conflate the two.

RedRosie · 26/01/2025 15:19

Like @Snorlaxo and (some of) the rest of you, I feel desperately sorry for his parents. Asking for help over and over, likely to have been both afraid of their son and for him.

Something is badly wrong with a society that doesn't support families in this position. Lets hope the enquiry surfaces what happened, what could have been foreseen, and what can be put in place to reduce the chances of it happening again.

ASD was a comorbidity and nothing more. He clearly had separate issues giving him urges to harm and kill.

It's not because we have too many people here that we're under resourced. It's because our wealth & resources are increasingly being concentrated in the hands of a minority.

It's a choice made by governments who represent the interests of that minority, who recognise the west is in decline and have decided they'll be fine as long as they can convince everyone else to pay for it.

We need to wake up to the reality that we're a declining country and decide if we want to navigate it together or carry on as we have and let free market zealots plot that course.

The richest 1% in the UK own the same wealth as the poorest 80%, 5 families have more than the poorest 20% of the entire population. That's unsustainable.

That’s untrue. We do have too many people here. Even in the last 25 years the population has grown from 58m to 69m currently. An extra 11m people, even though birth rates have been in decline. Yet no additional investments in the NHS or housing to accommodate the extra people. Or should I say an attempt has been made to increase investment in NHS, but the upper tiers of the NHS have managed the finances poorly. We should focus on the quality of immigrants, and reduce the quantity.

Why don't politicians get proper briefing on this stuff.
The mn threads on this have been incredibly informative.
It was nothing to do with integration and everything to do with his autism and a lack of service that could tackle his issues.
The services where there but each one proved totally ineffective.

The threads on this forum have been mainly quite dignified, insightful, reflective, analytical, informative, factual

Its a parenting forum! And yet someone who was in government cant even achieve the minor modicum of sense to match those discussions. Its a disgrace.

hairbearbunches · 26/01/2025 15:06

The Home Office spent £4.7bn last year on aslyum support, resettlement and accommodation. What could that money have done elsewhere in the country? How much extra CAMHS support could have been had, for example?

FWIW, Rudakubana's parents are exactly the type of asylum seeker we should be offering safe haven to. They were fleeing genocide. They were not economic migrants who paid ££££ for a seat on a dinghy, having thrown away all identifying evidence of themselves. His parents are now in hiding. They sought help and were let down by the authorities. They are not to blame for their son's actions any more than anyone else whose child goes on to murder.

That said, multiculturalism has failed. We should have been stricter in how we allowed people to assimilate. It should have been non negotiable. If you're in England, you abide by English norms. You don't keep trying to bring over whatever customs, cultural and religious preferences you left behind and then demanding special privileges for this, that and the other. (I once had to step over a bloke in the gym who got his prayer mat out between the machines. Just fucking no!)

Badenoch is a band wagon jumping idiot. But unless we get a grip on the numbers coming into the country, both legally and illegally, expect to see Nigel Farage's gurning face standing in front of a lecturn outside No.10 some time during the summer of 2029.

Under funded public services and too many people have led us down a path not many of us willingly chose. Successive governments should hang their heads in shame, both Labour and Tories alike.

Scammersarescum · 26/01/2025 15:04

I can't speak of the young man in question as I don't know enough about him or the impact his background had on him. However I live in an area where immigration has caused huge social and cultural issues. Including the grooming gangs scandal. Where the incoming population clearly does not like or respect white British culture.

We are not unique, the effect of immigration communities pushing to change the liberal lifestyle in Holland led to the election of politician Pim Fortuyn. A gay Marxist supporting former university lecturer was labelled as right wing and then assassinated for wanting to protect existing cultural norms.

There's a stacey dooley documentary called my hometown fanatics which really shows some of the issues of unchecked chain migration and the lack of integration of some immigrant communities.

Middle class Mumsnet won't like it at all but Ms Badenoch is completely correct to point out that unchecked immigration is going to cause issues. Though I suspect that this particular case has much more to do with mental health.

Lest we forget, many many people voted for Brexit due to immigration related fears. Out political elite were culpable for that 'collective act of self harm" just as much as those who voted for it. They failed to address immigration issues and it is not surprising that lower socio economic groups voted for Brexit in greater numbers as they are most affected by it.

I'd rather main stream politicians actually woman up and talk about these difficult issues so that the don't become the political football of extremists like Trump and Farage. Fingers crossed that Labour are brave enough to follow her lead so that we can get to a place of open and frank discussion. There's nothing wrong with well managed immigration but we absolutely do not have that here.

I can't find much online about him having autism though? If he did he was clearly even more vulnerable and a threat. Integration as he was born here isn't really a key solution (it would have been for his parents ) but then Nadin Z made a valid point that if you are living in this country you need to abide by its values etc. This isn't the drift Kemi was on. But WHY also did his parents not alarm police etc ?? He had to stop his son from going in a taxi to previous school with a knife ! Surely you DO SOMETHING if you see this ?! Baffling

The parents called police at least four times, it is all detailed here https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025/jan/25/axel-rudakubana-from-unassuming-schoolboy-to-notorious-southport-killer
