I used to enjoy her posts but haven’t seen her around for a while. Does anyone know whether she is still on MN?

I agree. @billy1966 gave such calm and measured advice to so many women who were struggling in their relationship. She also had a distinctive posting style.

No she was too extreme in her thinking. I started a thread once about my relationship and mentioned having sex with my husband when I wasn’t in the mood and she posted that I had been raped and I need to leave my husband…

I've often wondered what happened to @Nocapes who seemed to live her life on here and then disappeared

Phthia · 20/01/2025 09:11

I still wonder about @bertrandrussell! Always liked her posts and no idea what happened to her. Is she under a new name or did she get banned?

I think she simply made a decision to withdraw from MN.

All I remember about Bluntness was her not remembering my username between threads, and alternately telling me I must be an awful person or a lovely woman according to whether or not she agreed with me in the moment.

😂

maxplanck · 20/01/2025 09:21

Wasn’t Anyfucker the one who went on about going to her holiday home in
lockdown ?

Polecat07 · 20/01/2025 09:22

I only remember her being actively horrible to women already in really bad situations.

Just seemed unnecessarily nasty to me, coming along to put the boot in all the time.

I saw negative or retaliatory posts in reply to her too, surprised anyone was cheering this behaviour or missing its absence?

I agree. Could never understand why some posters fawned over her. I'm sure I remember her saying she lived in a 'gentlemans residence' and that piece of information now lives rent free in my head Grin.

I think BernardRussell had an imposter - somebody who created an almost identical username (with a capital "i" replacing one of the "l"s iirc) and posted lots of controversial posts with views that were diametrically opposed to those of the real BernardRussell. The imposter was banned once this was discovered, but BernardRussell herself also disappeared - either changed her username or left the site completely.

Agree totally. She could be very cruel to those already in pain.

Yes, but it was ok because she was a nurse apparently.

Is Bluntness the poster who offered legal advice because her daughter was a trainee solicitor?

TruthThatsHardAsSteel · 20/01/2025 13:23

murphys · 20/01/2025 06:41

Didn't she get her arse handed to her over the going to the second home thing over Covid? I don't think I have seen her since then. Unless she is back under another name with a completely different posting style.

So many ascerbic posters here, it's hard to tell 😁

I think that might have been Tizerorfizz but there have been a few over the years..

Sparklingbrook had a calming effect on threads.

Sparklingbrook. Ah she helped me so much, and she probably doesn't even know it.

I went through a very difficult time, and she just always gave solid helpful advice.

Fair play to Bluntness, she was upfront about who she was! But I found her too harsh a lot of the time.

She was worse than harsh a lot of the time, and what was even worse was the posters who would fawn over her. Can't say I miss her.
